Zuko and Iroh are two of my favorite characters in Avatar. It is funny how much my character changed just learning from those two and taking their lessons to heart.

I watched Avatar after reading some comments about how Uncle Iroh embodied a lot of the qualities described in the ancient Chinese text Tao Te Ching, the foundational text in the Taoist philosophy. And I'm glad I did! Loved the series, and Iroh's gentle approach to life and hardship ❤ Would have been great to have seen this as a kid.

This was one of my favorite shows when i was younger because of the action. This is one of my favorite shows still because of the wisdom that went over my head as a kid. Thanks Uncle Iroh!

Uncle iroh was initiated. He walked as the brightest flame in such a dark world. Hoping the little sparks around him would ignite and walk the path with him before being consumed by the darkness of others. All the darkness in the world can do nothing to one candle.

I dont know why there is so many bible quotes as i feel like this is more of a budist/shinto philosophy.

Uncle Iroh knew he couldn’t “fix” his nephew. You can’t fix anybody. You can only be there when they need someone. When they’re ready, they will change. And you have to ask yourself, how long you’re willing to stay, and what you’re going to do if it turns out they never will end up changing. At the end of the day the only choices you can control are yours alone. No amount of love or patience will force someone else to change, even if it’s for the better.

Iroh was the father that Zuko deserved. I’m sorry he lost his own son in his journey, but his loss, made him the man that we can all look up to…..his womanizing aside though 😂
