God, I can't believe this was the only thing we had for regular trips to the ISS for decades. The whole thing, launch pad and all, looks so janky compared to what NASA has used since the 60's and what SpaceX uses today.

What people sometimes have identified as a mouse or insect are bits of insulation or frozen fuel that get caught on the pipes at the base of the second-stage engine and tend to move around during the powerful vibrations of the running engine. Most launches have bits of fluff moving around at the base of the vacuum engine. But there have been rumors, at least one old TH-cam video (apparently now deleted), and two recent comments on this channel about an actual mouse riding a Falcon 9. I just wanted to show people what it probably was. Sometimes the fluff looks even more mouse-like. Of course you could have an actual mouse but it would soon be dead and frozen, moving only in the way the fluff moves. Unless it had a tiny space suit... Hmm, I wonder what SpaceX would charge to include a mouse in a bubble attached to the base of the vacuum engine?

That landing shot is insane

There is no landing because the full power of the first stage booster was needed to put this payload into its medium-Earth orbit, leaving no fuel for a soft landing. Still, this booster has made 19 previous flights, so SpaceX has probably gotten their money's worth from it.

Watched it from exactly miles away! It was a last minute rendezvous with one of my best little buddies from waaaay back and is the very first launch I’ve ever seen from south of the pad. 40+ years I’ve been watching them go up from St. Augustine or Ponce Inlet. Yesterday was a special day. The SOUND… Amazing. The subharmonics propagate through your entire body so you can feel them, but you hear something entirely different. We WILL be going back for a night launch!
