a realy grait model ! . it was my first model ! and it was at the end wonderfull ! the build is good but tak it serious and carfull step by step and alweys dry test. and yes the wing textur at the end let your starter noob coloring looking damm good ! witout shadowing or wathering ! . the Airplain is realy Amazing ! i will buy it again for the with green skinn.

i dont like wats happening ihn ukrain since nanci pelossi was there 2014 . but i like the models and the countrys wonderfull land.

Airframe XR726 is described as 5 Sqn - Correct but the Sqn markings are 23 Sqn. Something gone wrong?

Lots of nice surface detail but I've seen some feedback on the Thunder & Lightnings website which is highly critical of the kits accuracy in shape.

That Hurricane is a beauty Bobby. Your build video stoke me with new fervor to get back into my modelling chair and get going again. Last April of 2023 I was finishing up a few 1/32 models for a model show and contest. I got a bit burnt out and have been working on other household projects, our boat and vehicle maintenance. In other words, I have no excuse for not modelling. I know I needed to watch one or two of your videos to get the modelling fire burning again. That Hurricane build of yours was beautiful and what the doctor ordered to spark my fire again. I need to get my tired bones back into the modelling chair again and not be so pedantic about every little thing. When I was getting ready for that contest, rather than being enjoyable, it was getting like work. I need to put it back into perspective and enjoy it again. From across the Atlantic in Alabama, this old surfer and California ex-pat says, Thank You!

😢Those inserts for the cockpit follow panel lines on the airframe and, if you are careful and use xtra thin cement, will be almost completely indistinguishable from other panel lines. Mine worked out that way... The inserts for the U/c can be temporarily fixed in place with blu tak then painted with the airframe. After dry, remove and add U/c part the fix cover in place.

Hey. I was wondering on picking this kit up. But I don’t know much about it (yes I used scalemates) Is there a gear up option or is it gear down only just like in the instructions? If it is gear down is it easily modifiable, or will that end up with me wasting money

I'd love to watch a video of you building the eduard and tamiya side by side, just to compare and hear which one you preferred

Hopefully this will be followed by a Mk.V - the previous 1993 tooled Mk.1 spawned a Mk.V (and Trop) just a year later. So a new Mk.V is overdue. The Eduard one is an old tooling too. The newest Mk.V seems to be from Airfix, released in 2014 - can anyone tell me what that's like to build?

The Canadian kit supplied markings are off a bit on font and flag. Gonna need aftermarket if the Canadian one is your thing.

I just built that recently. Good kit. I also built the F-4 and F-18 to round out the Jolly Rogers trio.

The Meng 1/48 kit is judged to be the 3rd best P51D on the market, just behind the Airfix 1/48 recent kit, which is just behind the Eduard kit. Tamiya's 27 year old Mustang sits at 4th, due to the inaccurate wheel wells and simplified cockpit. What makes the Meng kit so remarkable is that it is designed as a Snap-fit kit, no glue necessary. I recommend glueing it up, though.

You quote a price of £50 I paid £37 (pre order from Jadlam) still to build it but looking forward to doing so. I am sure most people will "shop around" for the best price

Not biased as I like Tamiya kits, but even in 1/48 for what is capable with IJM today those figurines look distinctly under par for a 2012 tool which I find unpalatable at the IL-2 kit's regular price point. I probably wouldn't pay a premium for the combo. Important to me, Zvezda did better with the figurines included in their 2015 tool 1/48 Pe-2, and Modelkasten's aftermarket Japanese figurines sculptures in their Rabaul Fighter and IJAAF/IJNAF sets illustrate what is possible in IJM in the scale. Disappointing. I haven't seen the Zvezda IL-2 kit to eval its figurines as the sanctions nonsense put paid to its availability in AU.

The Ilyushin "ILL" (NOT L.L.)-2m3 two seat is the famous"Sturmovik" (Storm Bird). The primary ground attack bomber of the V.V.S (Red Air Force. It is a very nice kit of the most produced aircraft of WW2 - over 40,000 made by 1947. Parts are devoid of some detail because a percentage was wood clad, like the Mosquito. Losses were heavy, unlike the Mosquito.

Thanks for sharing but you can only go so far until you've actually built both Meng and Takom kits. Show an actual side by side photo of parts instead of just an opinion. You didn't show/speak about decals. In all events, it's on the skill of the builder; you'll never get the perfect molding, and even if you do, you still have to assemble the kit. Anyone can open a box and show stuff, but we're waiting for hands on builds ( hopefully we can get some built, then we can talk) . At least you showed a little; don't forget to fill the screen with the subject/part so we can focus on it instead of distracting background. I'm not an expert builder, but if I can put something together that even looks close to what I want, that's good enough for me. it's all subjective, but unless you've been through the fire with both kits ( not to mention all the other manufacturers In the market) take opinions with a grain of salt. In the end, you gotta pay to play.

Making this kit at the moment, it's not bad but the decals are the wrong colours, the lettering should be grey not white and yellow is too bright.

Fun build. Just wrapping it up myself. BuNo 2106, which is the plane in the box art, is something of historic aircraft. It was the only plane to survive the attack at Pearl Harbor and participate in the Battle of Midway and make it through. Reports say it was perforated over 200+ times at Midway. Currently on display in Florida and during the restoration two panels showing the original prewar paint were preserved.
