Yes, very scenic and dramatic. The "hairpin curve" area ranks up there for scenic vistas, and what a gorgeous day to drive that stretch. One thing that stood out from the beginning is that there are a lot of rock-faced bluffs on this stretch, big and small. So much interest throughout.
I had never been over this pass before, but it had been on my radar for a long time. As I was driving over it, I had the old C W McCall song in my head. "Wolf Creek Pass, Way up on the Great Divide, Truckin' on down the other side." I enjoyed the drive, and the Pagosa Springs area is surprisingly beautiful. I will likely have another video in a few weeks showing the opposite direction and back again under different sky conditions.
@@ASunnyAdventure I couldn't help but wonder what it would look like in the other direction heading toward the hairpin area (in video, not in Google street view, that is). Super. I look forward to seeing that one.
@@davidborrink137 Both directions are pretty neat. Google street view never looks better than the real thing.😀
Pretty pretty = pretty x 2
Thanks for watching.
Been there done that several times in a truck both ways, beautiful drive
This was my first time driving over this pass. It did not disappoint. Thanks for watching.
❤❤❤😘😘😘😘😘
Thank you.
Great video once again. I hope that more will be forth coming on top of what is posted. Travel locations that would bring back a lot of memories is ( Estes Park , Golden, @ Colorado Springs. ) Thanks.
Thanks. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I have several more videos from Colorado coming up. These videos were all filmed during the past summer. I don't have anything from the specific locations you mentioned, but there will be videos covering several mountain passes, small towns and remote roads, etc.
Wow super view, beautiful
Thank you for watching.
Great videos. With the music in the back round it makes the drive just as you ere doing it yourself. Thank you for the enjoyment.
Thanks for the nice comment. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos.
nice choice bud keep it up
Thanks. I'm glad you liked it.
Thanks for another state highway drive that seems its only purpose is "scenic drive". Some great vast valleys in this one. I especially like the last five minutes with the rugged range far off to the left with a big grand open feel to the whole scene. This is why you do this, isn't it? And this road at times made me think it was a thin-forest-canyon version of CO 141 the way it wound so much through those hills. Just a lot to like on this drive. Definitely worth it if you want open spaces and canyons all in one shot.
This is one of the roads I'd never heard of before I started planning my route. It was just an lonely grey line on the map. Sometimes those are the best. And yes, I do like the grand open spaces.
The music makes it enjoyable to watch. " Thanks "
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the feedback on the music.

Another one of the "I hope you do this" trips. I've seen this stretch in time-lapse versions and hoped to see your version and method. Such an interesting drive. US 50 really is a fabulous drive, especially in Colorado. There seems to be something to grab your attention around every turn.
It's great to hear that I marked another drive off your list. I hope to mark off a few more before I'm done. This was definitely an enjoyable drive to take. The pass was nice, and I especially liked how the landscape changed one we got out of the mountains. I'm with you. I love US 50.
@@ASunnyAdventure Yes, when the land changed to the more open fields and the hills with sparse trees, that was a pretty neat change.
❤❤❤😘😘💓💓💓💓💓
Thanks for watching.
Nice video. Brought back a lot of great memories driving this road. Highly recommend Hwy 6, and 722 in Nevada.
Thanks. I've been on parts of highway 6 before. I've also been across Highway 50 many times, but I never took the old 722 route over Carroll Summit. Now that I'm making videos, these roads are certainly on my to-do list, along with many others. I hope to get back up there someday and do some driving.
@@ASunnyAdventure 722 is one of the most beautiful drives I have been on.
@@jamesbruno2432 Good to know. I'll try to get there. Hopefully this year if I can.
I was hoping you'd start going in this direction. You did some trips into this general area last year and it was neat to see.
I pretty much went way south in Colorado and then came back north using different routes before going kind of south again. In other words, I covered quite a bit of ground. I didn't realize at the time just how many videos I'd get out of this trip, but the videos just seem to keep coming.

Thanks for watching.
Thanks for doing this "other direction" version of this stretch. I remember wondering how good the "back view" was on your recent Berthoud Pass video going eastward when the camera was pointing south by default. Now I know and that's quite a vista around the 49-50 minute mark. Awesome area.
It's a fact that sometimes the views behind are better than or equal to the views ahead. That's why I don't mind repeating trips going the opposite direction. There is always something new to see.
@@ASunnyAdventure I think you said you're backtracking the route across US-40 so it'll be neat to see all those neat locations but from the other way.
@@davidborrink137 Actually, I'll just be backtracking on 40 as far as Kremmling, and then heading south to Silverthorne/Frisco and beyond. I did the Kremmling to Silverthorne route last year, so that section will be somewhat of a repeat. After that, there will be many new roads and mountain passes that were new to me when I did them.
Great. Looking forward to those.
Really neat that you turn the camera !
I'm glad you liked that. It's actually a second camera, though, so I can capture the road ahead and the side view at the same time.

It looked like you had a lot of "washboard road" conditions on that gravel road. That's a testimonial to how good your camera's image stabilizer works. It made it look like you had a smooth drive.
Yes, there was quite a bit of "washboard." All was well, though. It was nice to get off the pavement for a while. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a 4-wheel drive vehicle and get on some really remote roads like I did in my dad's pickup truck when I was a kid in the wilds of Nevada. That's not happening any time soon, though. I'll mostly have to stick to the highway for now. Dream on.
Nice! Great camera you got
Thanks for watching.

Since you had a "normal" view on this drive in the last video, this one was "and now for something completely different". One wouldn't think of seeing snowfall on July 2, for sure. The Bear Lake Road drive is a special one. The weather made this a great experience.
It started snowing and the road kept going up and up with more snow. I was getting a little concerned there because I didn't know how bad it was going to get. Obviously it turned out okay, and it was a somewhat unique (though not really rare) weather event to have experienced in July. I'm glad I got to record it.
@@ASunnyAdventure I wondered if you were "on edge" up there, because if you're below freezing temperatures, then you're facing some potential slip-offs on ice, and that's not a place you want to go off the road. I had my doubts that they ever put down salt on those roads spontaneously if there suddenly is those conditions in summer.
@@davidborrink137 Luckily the road seemed to have retained some heat from the day before, so it didn't ice up. As you saw, it did get a little slushy in places, though. I was a little "on edge.". I doubt they would put salt down. The road totally shuts down in winter, so they don't have to worry about it then. As an aside, I sometimes wonder how much salt damages the vegetation along roadways. In various other places I notice conspicuous dead trees right along the edge of the road, and I wonder if this has anything to do with treating the road. If so, they wouldn't want this to happen in the national park. Just speculating.
😘😘😘♥️♥️ Good ❤❤
Thank you.
Nice video, but I didn't see any bats.
I would imagine this ranks up there as one of the best mountain drives anywhere. Great shots at the top facing west with the ranges and the stormy clouds approaching. The side shots when you went around the corner showing the panorama was great. The rainy skies in the distance during the downhill switchbacks were awesome.
I think you're right. It's hard to top this one. I wasn't sure what the highest point on this road was, so I just looked it up. It tops out at 12,183 feet. That's high enough for me.
Thank you for taking us with you on this drive trhough this gem of a region. Wonderful nature and what a scenery. I enjoyed the trip, thanks a lot.

Very nice! Thank you for the beautiful vids and peaceful music. Going there this winter.
Thank you for the nice comment. I hope you have a good time there. Winter is definitely the time to go.
This is another drive I was hoping you were going to do. How challenging it must have been to originally build those massive switchback setups over the mountains. That's a lot of blasting. But such a beautiful area.
Alright. We can check another one off your wish list. And just for giggles, after a few more videos, we'll drive much of this same route in the opposite direction. I agree that this road is truly a wonder. I thought about how much work went into building this road and others like it back in the day. It certainly took a lot of planning to get the route just right so they could scale the mountain and keep the grade just right. Anyhow, thanks for watching. Take care.
@@ASunnyAdventure That's neat because I'm sure there's just as much of an interesting view the other direction. Speaking of other direction, that's what you did on this one with the parkway. I know you did the other direction last year when you visited here.
@@davidborrink137 Yes, this road was interesting no matter which way I was going.
