I forgot to mention this, but also make sure to get a safe carrier, for taking the bird places, like to the vet. Also, things like non stick cookware, candles, air fresheners, cleaning products, perfumes, deodorants, certain plants, and certain metals cannot be safely used around birds. To safely clean the cage, use diluted white vinegar and paper towels.

Did you know that the stereotypical eagle scream doesn’t even come from an eagle? Seen here, Luca does not scream like a stereotypical eagle. This is because that scream actually comes from a red tailed hawk, which you can hear in my related video.

Did you know that mice are some of the smartest rodents out there? They can learn their names and many fun tricks, just like a dog! Training them what the clicker means, like I showed in the video is essential if you want to train them.

Did you know that mice actually don’t usually carry rabies? It can still happen, since they’re mammals but rabies is actually most common in raccoons, foxes, skunks, bats, unvaccinated stray dogs, and coyotes. Since most of these animals are significantly bigger than a little rodent, like a mouse, the rodent will usually just die during or after the attack. If they somehow survived, then they’d be a vector for rabies. If you’re bitten by any wild rodent, I still do encourage you to go through the vaccine series just in case. Since my mice are pets, I do not have to worry about rabies in the slightest.

Did you know that it may hurt more when a mouse bites than if something with sharp teeth bites you? This is because animals will duller teeth can inflict more pain, similar to a sharp vs. dull needle.

If your mouse (or any pet) has been poisoned by a toxic food (or anything really), call the animal poison control hotline at 1 (888) 426-4435, and tell them what the pet ingested and how much if possible. After this, take them to the emergency vet immediately.

Please also make sure you find a good vet that will see mice, in case they get injured or sick. Also make sure you have an emergency vet in case the normal vet is closed, or you can’t get an appointment soon enough. Make sure you also find a good breeder, rescue, or independent pet store to purchase the mice from. Don’t ever get them from a chain pet store or breeding mill.
