    Whoever designs your thumbnails is a wicked, vile person. "most intence scenes" is indeed merely relative but what is NOT relative is my spit-laffed coffee on screen and keyboard. You jerk!! By the way, I use this film as my argument for filmmakers to ALWAYS cast too-old classic actors - just shoehorn them into the film, somewhere, somehow - because their presence along can make films rewatchable and 'study-able' for all future film fans. "Gee, I wonder what that actor did for his last X years?" Bela's got a much larger than bit role (thank you, Ed Wood) but there are so many thousands of films that offer ZERO research-motivations for future students. I wish more directors would become 'notorious' for planting 'screen litter' like a Hitchcock passing thru a scene, etc. Like Stan Lee was used. He never once 'saved' a film from a lower rating, but he gave all film students a reason to chase down ALL of his work, just for those few moments of giggles. Lugosi was far more than that, of course. Hollywood ruined his films by dumping so much manure on the audiences but if Johnny Depp ever did one good thing, it was elevating the film ED WOOD into a rewatchable study of an elder actor's stuggles. And thanks to Martin Landau for a great performance, top to bottom. For me, he and Barbara Bain's couple of seasons on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE are the only two worth re-watching.

If you haven't seen/heard of CADAVRA, this, my only caution is "You must be in the Correct Mood." But individual experiences vary. After a few rewatchings over these 20 years, I can say there are lines of dialog which I never EVER thought a human could think of, much less speak. AND with a straight face.

    Having talked with @DaimosZ (check out their channel for a lot of fun stuff) in this comment section, we would like to issue a correction in the comments here. Black Diamond was not intended to become Fangar in the Japanese version of the show, and the misconception originated due to imperfect translation technology. Our points about the show being rushed in a few areas with production issues (including creating the episodes out of order) stand, since Fangar subbed in for Black Diamond in the episode chronologically before his actual appearance, confusing the whole issue with this character. We were not necessarily precise though in attributing that to Black Diamond being Fangar. There is always more to learn about this wonderful franchise, and we are all in it together. In turn, Fangar not being a mutated Black Diamond leaves the room for Dangor to be a separate character, though pending correction we still do believe those to be the same since episode 17 was made so early on, and killing off Botanus makes the most sense in the episode that features a sort of replacement since Fangar follows in his footsteps as the main threat for a while. Within Voyage Into Space, Black Diamond and Dangor are treated very similarly as sidekicks to Botanus (which, again works well for the pacing of the film, as we argued), but this also raises the question of where the mutants fit into the hierarchy if Guillotine rules but Spider is in charge of all agents and both Spider's successor and mutant Dangor are beneath Botanus, whom Guillotine can kill with no great issues in chain of command following. One could make the case that the Gargoyle humans are terrorists as in the manga, possibly under the effects of sustained transmoculation since they have some similarities to Suzuki post transmoculation. However, the other mutants, especially Dr Snake and Professor Hydra do not seem to be human or alien and work as independent contractors in charge of Piranha's men. Because the show actually did account for the Black Diamond and Fangar stuff to the best of its ability despite production issues, there may actually be some answer waiting for us upon a full rewatch. However, this franchise also does not require us to look that deep for enjoyment. If anyone can weigh in on where the mutants fit into Guillotine's plan, we'll appreciate more information about this show, but if nobody here wants to find that out, all of our enjoyment of the mutant characters is still valid. Nothing really will or really should change the way we all felt when we watched Voyage Into Space for the first time or read the manga for the first time or watched out first episode or clip of the show.

      @@josephgibson5902 That was an error on the part of myself before I had access to the original Japanese version. In the Japanese version, Black Diamond died offscreen though he was supposed to appear in Episode 13 in place of Red Cobra/Fangar. Red Cobra was meant to debut in Episode 14 which is why that episode makes it seem like he is a new villain. He offhandedly mentions that his plan to take out Azuma will avenge Spider and Black Diamond. Google Translate used to poorly translate Japanese (worse than now) so when I was studying up on the original version via Japanese Wikipedia in 12th grade I read a mistranslated description of Red Cobra that claimed he was reborn from Black Diamond but that wasn't so. Yes my channel has the different OP's for the show, which was taken from the Soundcloud upload of the soundtrack.

    It took many rewatchings to 'get' all of the aspects (the LSD, for example; and teen-hearthrob transitioning into leading-young-man Darryl Hickman), much less Edith's superb work and the Blood Red scenes in a B&W film)... AND it's almost a murder mystery. But instead of a trying to figure out WhoDunIt, we KNOW who the killer is. Like COLUMBO scripts, "knowing" isn't so important - it's "can he get away with it?" For all the schlocky WmCastle aspects, it's really a well made film given the low-budget effects. And another film that clearly demonstrates that some filmmakers knew their audiences' tolerance levels VERY well, and providing entertainment was the Number One Goal. This film is a success.

    • @Cbcw76
      @Cbcw76 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some film debates devolve into "Is it Good or is it Important?" details - it's hard to claim THE TINGLER is 'important' but it was part of Wm Castle's "terror-arama" campaign. This of course wasn't so widespread and rumors would have it, but audiences acknowledged THEY could be physically victimized - just like rollercoasters and Halloween haunted houses. "Ya wanna git scared? Wanna have a thrill?" It's also a rather bizarre side-step for Vincent Price who, like his HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, has him playing a relative innocent among other bad characters in both stories, and he's not so innocent himself - he's ultimately pulling some strings (uh... or reeling them in. ahem). For me, this wins more Important Film points than quality of the film or the story.

    • @Cbcw76

    That was not scary, at all. It was terrible. Worst actress ever!! Worst direction ever!!

    • @josephgibson5902
      @josephgibson5902 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Technically, at the end of the day what is scary is subjective, so unless you're going to pull a dogmatic "only what I find scary counts as scary" position, then you have to admit our position of it being a worthwhile scary scene to analyze is valid, lest your negative opinion is also invalid. Now, what we are doing here is we are going through the scene's progression because there is a progression and there are techniques used here that are used to great effect in many scary scenes (music flow, increasing severity of scares from mundane to surreal and jump scares thrown in throughout). You are free to believe what you will believe but according to horror scare tropes, this scene emerges pretty well upon close inspection. Now I'm not sure you thought of this, but attacking the actress and director solely because you didn't like a scene they made is both uncouth and opens a pretty high burden of proof on your part. First of all, directors are responsible for envisioning scenes, especially the ones with the gimmicky money shot, so technically speaking most of the criticisms you would have (I must remind you, your comment here was so vague and exaggerative, I cannot in good faith even guess your actual criticisms) should fall on William Castle not the actress. To actually blame the actress on this short clip, what you are really saying is "the director is terrible at moving the camera but good enough at inspiring and capturing performances that it's her fault her performance is bad," which means by definition he cannot be the worst director since there are some that can't work with actors. Need I remind you we are not upholding this director as the best one; we have our own choice comments against him in the video. However, you are making the claim that he is the worst. I don't know what to do with that. I either have to not take you seriously and agree with your sentiment for different better expressed reasons or try to back up your halfbaked claim with evidence to reach your conclusion. As for the actress, I don't mean this to be unhelpful, but you really should try to play an anxious deaf mute ambiguously drugged woman getting scared to death by her husband who knows what buttons of hers to press before you judge this so unfavorably. I say that because you're not presenting evidence of poor acting. If you could point to a moment or two of her corpsing the camera, I could work with that, but you've given me nothing to address except opinion and hyperbolic personal attacks on the people involved We at Plan9Crunch appreciate these films enough to highlight the merits and flaws as we can see them and argue them efficiently. I don't want you speaking so negatively about the people we highlight unless you can give a reasoned argument as to why you're correct "Worst actress ever!! Worst direction ever!!" Anyone here at Plan9Crunch could walk you through this scene and point out what effective and less effective moments of horror, suspense and humor are occuring in these scenes to disprove that assessment. (We like Cult Films here, so we'll probably cover ones like Troll 2, not pretending they're masterpieces but bringing up the merits to give you something to think about). In four sentences you've given me far less to think about than this entire scene. Because of your hyperbolic attacks, you've conveyed any actual logic far worse than the deaf mute possibly drugged character in this scene. Is that cause for me to call you the worst commenter ever? It actually isn't, because that comes with a high burden of proof. Do you see now why you're not being constructive? You don't need to agree with us, just be more wise in how you disagree, and if you can help it don't attack the people who made these scenes we enjoy watching so much
