I don't know the book being promoted, but this talk certainly doesn't help at all to really understand the phenomenon of theism nor that of Christianity in particular. The talk consists, to put it bluntly, of rationalizations that some Christians need to tell themselves. When I was a teenager I couldn't understand how it was even possible for my friends to really believe in gods and other invisible beings with magical powers (my parents never indoctrinated me in any particular religion) so I decided to read the Bible, since most of them were Christians, only to end up discovering that I was the only one of them who had read it. That was the first important lesson I learned on the subject.

Hi! I got to this a bit late! Tonight what really stuck out to me was: The works of His hands are truth and justice; all His instructions are trustworthy. Psalms 111:7 HCSB I love the picture of His hands being Truth and Justice! And that does make Him trustworthy and makes me feel so secure! I love knowing in this crazy world where we are not sure what tomorrow will bring, that God does and He is in control! Isaiah 14:24 New International Version The LORD Almighty has sworn, "Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.

For so many it seems that we struggle with unworthiness in our heads about turning constantly to God because we judge that we are too weak and need too much of God's time and attention to get through the trials and worries of our lives. We set such high expectations of needing to be independent which are unrealistic and rob us of HIS abundant grace and help.

Thank you Zach for sharing this morning a beautiful message of the hope we have in Jesus.

Thank you all for putting this together! Loved "How powerful will the glory be that we see when Jesus comes back that it will drown out all of our current sufferings."

Thank you. This was JUST what an almost 70 year old lady who hurts everywhere needs! My form was terrible but it stretched things that definitely needed stretching. It's okay Blythe--my cat likes to cry out to the Lord when I try to pray too and they are also very sensitive to the additional burdens and anxieties we are dealing with and praying over!

I was drawn to 25 :4-5. I am asking Him to help me hear Him and His direction for me. Also vs 12 I see as a promise. We do our part...we honor Him, we worship Him, we are obedient and He will instruct us in the way He has chosen for us.

This set of Psalms were cool today. God showed me an interesting thing in 23 and 143. Both of those Psalms use the phrase “for your name’s sake”. Those are in 23:3 and 143:11. His protection, provision, or rescue of us is definitely for us, but more than that it is for his name’s sake. If he provides friends, or toilet paper, or sanity, work, or sleep, or food, or whatever he does, it is for our provision but also to glorify him and make him famous. I was challenged with realization of whether or not I am making his name famous because of the great things he as done.
