@@adamboron4522 it’s definitely a thinner material. Being in North Dakota there is the potential for it to be cold here during spring turkey season as well so I tend to wear jeans under mine. I use them more for concealment.

I was taught at a young age to let the fish play itself out so just a habit at this point. It was a blast, I can’t remember the last time I just set up tip ups for a whole day and didn’t use a rod but it might happen more often lol.

Open water is fun but ice fishing is my favorite by far!

It fit the German heritage and both our boys names start with a K and my other gwp is Dakota and we call him Kota for short lol glad to hear there is another Kaizer out there!

@@kratzfamilyoutdoors1693 yes it's German for emperor. Breeder named him and I got him at 11 months so I didn't change it.

Wish I could share pictures here I have a few of him with birds. He loves it and doing well for being just under 2yrs old

The water is kind of dirty in this location which would cause the ice to have that same appearance, yes it does. Northern pike are one of the apex predators in this area.

@@joeyk4909 I thought about it when I was looking to purchase this kit. The descriptions of the kit for the stapler kind of turned me away from it just based on some veterinarians not recommending the use of staples. Our vet recommended that tissue glue as an alternative though.

@@kratzfamilyoutdoors1693 totally get it maybe just a large bottle of liquid bandages of some sort like rapid seal. I only suggested a stapler when it’s a large wound like 2inch or so that’s a lot to try to glue in the field (obviously if it’s deep neither are going to do the job but will get them to the vet). Just had this happen to my pup on Sunday and I was roughing an hour from home. Of course it happened on Sunday so had to call my vet in on a Sunday. So cleaned it at the truck and packed it with triple antibiotic and flew to the vet.

@ I had a very similar situation on MN opener. Luckily the vet clinic back where I grew up has 24/7 on call so they got us in right away. Thankfully it was just his ear that got the worst of it. Aside from the field aid kit the other purchase that has already paid off is the Skidplate by Mendota. His chest would have been wrecked without that on.

@@kratzfamilyoutdoors1693 Unfortunately my pup did not have his skid plate on that day he has a MoMarsh skid plate and it was just too hot that day for it just too thick. He has a new thinner version on the way now. Got his chest pretty good but not too deep so thankful for that. He is out until at least Nov 7th when his stitches/staples get removed.
