The deepest it gets is around 8 feet, with an average at about 3-1/2 feet. Mermet is a no wake lake for motors over 10 hp. I raise my motor to about 1/2 trim to access most of my fishing spots. Those crappie were caught in 2 feet of water. Thanks for watching our channel.

Thanks! It was sure a surprise in these trout waters. I've only seen 12" largemouth in this river. I once caught a 2 1/2 lb smallmouth several years ago. I did lose my PB rainbow trout yesterday about 5' from the dipnet. I guess that's why they call it fishing instead of catching.

Thanks! It was fun on my 7' ultralight rod. It sure was a surprise in those cold trout waters. We've only caught them 12" and smaller, previously. We catch more smallies than we do largemouth and spots.

Yeah, Bill had me at a disadvantage. I don't have a lot of experience in catfishing in the lake. My main experience is in tailwater fishing below the dams. He took me to school on this trip, but I gained a lot of good information from him. I have since bought some lighter catfishing rods and reels.I'll be a little more prepared on the next outing. I actually caught a nice fourteen inch trout at the dam number three pool on the cone head streamer the morning I left. Hope to see you again in the upper pool.

Tenkara is a Japanese flyfishing technique using a long rod with a fixed line attached to the tip, similar to a cane pole, but using a casting technique. It is simple, challenging, and fun. Thanks for reaching out and thanks for watching.

The furled leader that I use is a Moonlight Tenkara Nodachi nymphing line that is 20' in length. Nodachi has 3 sections with a sighter section and the tip section is constructed of florocarbon, which helps it sink. The tippet that I use is #4 Berkley Vanish florocarbon. My tippet is anywhere from 4' - 8' long, depending on the depth of water that I'm fishing. I use the long furled leader because most of my Tenkara fishing is done on river sections, where I need the extra reach. If I fished smaller streams, I would fish a leader closer to the length of my rod. Once again, thanks for watching and contacting me. By the way, I order my Tenkara supplies from DragonTail Tenkara. I've bought all of my Tenkara rods from them as well. I once splintered a section of my new rod while setting the hook on a fish. They replaced those sections, free of charge, within a week of contacting them.

My favorite rod is my Nirvana 370Z. It's light in the hand with plenty of backbone. It is very responsive. I am a nymph fisherman at heart and I love the sensitivity of the Nirvana. Tenkara is my favorite style of fishing. I don't use the traditional Tenkara Kabari flies, I'm a nymph and wet fly fisherman. I tie my own flies and my favorite fly on the Spring River is a #6 Golden Stonefly. Thanks for your comment and for watching our channel.

@@papabearoutdoors2393 With bream/bass, I've mostly had luck on black wooly buggers. The two trout I caught were on black kebari-style flies (after trying a lot of different stuff with no luck). I tied them myself. I'm trying to learn to tie the Utah Killer Bug, but the Golden Stonefly is another one I've looked at.
