Star Wars Philosophy: Good Is Just A Point of View?
I've always watched movies not just for entertainment, but to learn from them. Luke's unwavering perseverance, his refusal to lose faith in his father, reminds me that hope can pierce even the darkest of shadows. Aragorn's humility and quiet courage as a leader reveal the strength in gentleness, showing that true power lies not in force, but in guiding with heart. And Captain Miller, in Saving Private Ryan, embodies sacrifice and duty, teaching me that sometimes, the most noble acts are those that go unnoticed, done for the greater good, even when the cost is everything
beautifully put
A story is not only for escape your daily life struggle and duties. It should also have a lesson and teach something important in life or to surpass difficult struggle. Sometime the author of a story, movie, comic, etc.don't do this directly but at the same time it make a story that it identificated with us somehow and show us important things in life.like star wars and other fiction movie and book. I like to create a comic with a amazing story but at the same time a message of surpassing your limit and struggles. Seriously or not you take a story it should have a meaning and teaching and most important have a soul in every word. Keep up the great work you guys doing 👍
As fun as escapist entertainment can be, I find it harder and harder to watch movies and shows without them making me think of something in my own life or in the larger world. Maybe trying too hard to escape from reality only makes it have more control over your mind (oh, that's pretty Star Wars). And if you're going to watch the Star Wars movies over and over again, why not analyze them in different way? I love what you said about stories being a way to see the world through different pairs of glasses. Okay, long comment over.
long comments very welcome!
Thank you, we need more stuff like this. This is so very true.

Wow - there is so much wisdom in this video and of course in Star Wars as well. Thank you!
Honour… it’s as simple as that cause that encompasses all he mentioned
But honor is what killed Ned Stark, and you are no good to anyone dead. Devils advocate here.
@@GeekyStoics I’d argue naïveté was what got him killed, he thought he could trust others at their word when they lacked honour as men. I do agree though tbh
“What makes a good king” competance and worthiness, if you are incompetent, you cannot rule, and if you aren’t worthy, the people won’t let you rule, *NO MAN RULES ALONE* all your power lies in the people believing that you having it is in their best interest, you better make sure to maintain that image or illusion.
Good content man
Charles Dance performance is great but he is very charismatic and unfortunately why some people don't understand that Tywin's whole philosophy is flawed from the start. In the books, his pragmatic facade falls apart if you look closely: warsandpoliticsoficeandfire.wordpress.com/2014/09/04/the-lions-fury-tywin-lannister-and-the-psychology-of-brutality/
Actually one of the few characters that i think is better in the show, much because of Charles dance, book Tywin Kind of lives a lie and ultimately fails in his true objective, preserve his ego and “legacy”
Charles Dance makes him more charismatic and imposing which is good for a villain but I feel that it makes people think he is far more competent than he actually is.
The only laws I obey are the laws of physics.
Good luck with that
Well said
A scene that embodies Tywin Lannister! Charles Dance brought him to life. What 8s the music by chance?
At its best, the acting and writing of this show was superb, Such a shame that it was so off-handedly betrayed in the later seasons.
No one tells the cold hard truth like Tywin..... you can't help but respect how grounded and well spoken he is
Right??!
What cold hard truth?
He just lie. He Made a full parade after winning the battle.
@@bacon8891 Ya nah, Tywin was more even minded then most but he's full of shit in this scene because of his hate for his son
dump the music. quit hacking up good content. make your own.
There is always good and evil but it all about the people choices to do good or evil let’s face it no matter how flawed the Jedi was they were right for not trusting Palpatine he is a Sith Lord in the end of day needs to be stopped. Also best not take any words from the TLJ Luke seriously that version of him wasn’t in his right mind because balance of the force in the light side while the dark side is corrupted and the unbalance.
That person you seek to become has already happened my man. Know it because you are it.
Solid work. I was just explaining this logic to my friend and searched this quote to show him. Your in-depth video is beautifully executed.
From this video it seems the Jedi practice avoidance, and claim to know about everything from books but not from experience. That's fine and probably leads to a more stress free life. However, if you were struggling with addiction, for example, would you want a councilor that only knew about addiction from books and school, or would you want one that had experienced and successfully conquered addiction?
OK, I've been thinking about this for several days and just have to say it: Why is it so accepted to say that the Jedi are dogmatic? Is it due to conflating with real world institutions? (I think that's not where Lucas was going.) Or, is it, as you said, Palpatine said the Jedi are dogmatic' ? I mean, Palpatine said? Really? That's the trusted source for this theory? I know a lot of folk will jump all over this comment, but, I just don't see the Jedi that way.
Great videos! Thank you for doing what you do! Just ordered your book👍🏼

When you spoke about the old Alinsky tactic of accusing the opposition of that which one is guilty, and mention of political media work, I had to stop to think. Then, realizing that I'm dealing with a stoic, it became clear to me, confirmed by a few comments here :) I think I might subscribe, this is good stuff
Dude, you think, but you don't think enough. :) The problem is that the more you run and you deprive yourself of problems, the less you learn by overcoming. Jedi replace all necessities of life with intense Jedi training. They are monks. Jedi are Buddhists. Simply, if you want to be Jedi, go to Tibet or take another place of solitude or contemplation. Why did you decide that the Jedi value is applicable and real in our world, but the Sith are fictional? Jedi are Buddhists. Sith are gangsters. Both sides are completely real in our world and at the same time they are here in each of us: a good side and a bad side. Sacrifice and selfishness. Etc. Also you might be a hypocrite. :) Because you sound like you might want to be a Jedi, but a Jedi by force, because you think the Sith don't exist in real life and therefore you cannot be a Sith. But if they were real you would be a Sith. Am I right? You sound every bit a Jedi by compulsion, but a Sith at heart. Basically you are saying: Jedi are real, their values are the only option for our real world. While the Sith are unreal! Why? Is selfishness and lack of concern for others unrealistic for our world? Any gangster or unscrupulous, any serial killer could be a Sith. Yes, these are people who don't care.
We don't have to deliberately go beyond Star Wars to take this seriously. I believe that subconsciously everyone takes Star Wars seriously, because they know that Star Wars, or other art based on serious topics that are of serious importance ideas are serious. I think everyone, at least on a subconscious level, realizes this and they appreciate this, and this is the reason why some projects turn out to be profitable, while others that are flat and devoid of depth and purpose sink. At least in most cases it is. Other times a project remains underappreciated if it was too far ahead of its time and remained misunderstood by the public during the time that project was created and therefore that project has to wait for its time to come. A third reason is if this project covers a topic that is of little or no interest to most viewers, then this project receives support, or no support, from a very small number of people. This is also a reason for a project to remain in the shadows. And in all seriousness, we really have to give our respects to the Hellraiser Cenobites. I think that this soul went through Hell and she experienced Hell is extremely strong. In the same way as a person who has tried everything in life is very well prepared because he has gathered vital experience from his life. Another question is whether a person can pass Hell. And also what is left of that person's consciousness after they have experienced Hell. People who have gone through many life trials are often destroyed. Star Wars is based on Eastern martial teachings and Buddhism practices on the one hand (Jedi) against ordinary human behavior on the other hand (Sit). Can we not assume that neither is a solution and that a solution is the middle way? You take a little of one, you take a little of the other, while at the same time you try to free yourself also in the same time helping others, punishing the bad, realizing that you are also half good and half bad? More or less, this is how I see myself.
Mine is " Anakin skywalker was weak, I destroyed him"
Your over compatance is you weakness! "Your faith in friends is your...."
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me. Only true!!!
He couldn't care less - bloody stupid Americanism - sounds awful when British people say it
From what George Lucas has said about balance, the conclusion I draw is that balance is Light & Dark, but no dark side users. When the Jedi stopped listening to the Force, and listened to politics - that paved the way for the Sith to rise
It was a pleasure meeting you all at the Fairfax Con. Thanks for signing my book and the insightful newsletters. It looks like Star Wars is in a flux right now…honestly MCU is also in this same flux and I’m hoping we find a way to get out of this mess because these media aren’t just nostalgic reminders of our childhood, they’re also beautiful artistic renditions of the human condition. We still have some cool books and comics coming out but I hope the visual media gets out of this uncertain period we are in. Love the Episode I love and Shmi’s quote is absolute bars. We must always remain mindful of our dynamic world. To be static is to lose existence because even death is dynamic and an expression of change. Pleasure meeting you all again and may the force be with you all.
Well said, and it was great to meet you!

Change is important lesson in life Anakin failed to realize the lust for control of life,Padme life makes living have no meaning he be no better than the slavers who took him and his mother. If Anakin didn’t want Padme to die then he should let her live first and trust in the force to decide her own fate. In the end the day Anakin can’t control change, can’t control nature and can’t control people but he can control himself.

Some people's version of freedom is censoring what others say when they do not agree with it, and canceling them when they try to exorcising that freedom
from my perspective, both views are foolish. "deny all wanting and be free from the entire world" "take everything by force, your wants and desires are paramount chase them" real freedom is the ability to choose what you do/don't want and get rid of what you can't handle/don't need. real story, i picked up smoking for a bit to see how it would feel, liked it, but knew it would harm me and cost so much money, so i put it down for my own good, and never touched it again. i enjoy pleasures but don't let them control me. and i do not deny them out of fear. a bit of drink, but do not crave drunkenness. people are so weak willed and afraid they fall to their desires, or hide from them like nuns that will be murdered for indulging. i can choose, i chose to smoke a bit for a week or two and LOVED it, but put it down and to date i have not touched it since. choose, choose yes/no choose this/that. choose risk/reward. slave to holiness. slave to desires both are the same yet inverted. the middle ground where you can go left, or right, and then return without harming yourself is where true freedom lies. those who are weak willed fall to addiction those who are stupid and afraid deny all of the world out of fear of becoming bad people. both ways are wrong
I liked this video though
