This was one of the most memorable nights of my life. The final performance for & Juliet Australia in Sydney (12/07/24). The audience this night was absolutely electric and the emotions were running so high.

I love her.
Funny that most Wicked fans would instantly think, "wow that was amazing....wait you can't do that, omg so amazing."
I first fell in love with Wicked 14 years ago during its first Australian tour, Sydney leg and 10 weeks ago, I saw it again. I literally sat, covered in goosebumps, jaw agape, as Sheridan belted out those breathtaking final notes. You'll never convince, me Sheridan is anything less than an angel plucked directly from heaven.
Courtney is fantastic!! I wish they'd release this cast recording

*YAY* a Musical director who *GETS* this song (aka *DOESN'T* steamroll through it) I've seen the show 11 x's and only twice, the Musical director has given the song the pacing it deserves.
I'm sorry I don't mean to be rude but I'm genuinely curious, what was the part that was supposed to be good/special? I mean she did a perfectly good job but it sounded the same as other Glindas to me? Was it the "on your own" part? ~:~

"Die alone" is the portion of note
She belted "die alone" instead of keeping it light like the rest of the lyrics. Though I see what you mean, she has a lot of volume already so it kinda sounds like she just sang louder, but she changed the technique

There's a video in Ryan Mccartan's channel with his ex-girlfriend where they react to a Glinda that did exactly the same in her last show. Ryan (who played Fyero on Broadway) says that Glinda is never supposed to belt, and that the production is extremely strict with that. She only did it in that show because it was her last one (he says that cast members usually play around a bit more in their last shows, even he did in As Long As You're Mine). Funny enough, she got to play Elphaba right after, and the belt may have landed the role for her. Maybe that is why Courtney stopped, which is a shame cause this is SO pretty.
Omg that's so interesting, thanks for sharing. Definitely a shame though! It's strange bc I swear Courtney was doing it pretty much every show for a while :( Maybe Sydney audiences got lucky. We'll have to see if she ends up doing it in Melbourne.. hopefully we get some recordings :')
@wickedgirlyy I agree!! The belt adds so much depth, especially because she says "dies alone" while talking about Elphaba.

I don't think this is entirely accurate. Kristen herself says that Glinda belts when she's telling the truth, hence why she belts in popular, belts during "Bridges you've crossed", and belts in For Good. Bearing that in mind, it does make sense for her to belt during "The Wicked Die Alone" because she's tormented over the loss of her best friend.
@mrbroadwaydork Yeah, it makes sense! I don't think, however, it makes sense for her to belt in the very first moment she appears? Even if it works for the character, we as an audience barely know anything about her at that point, so to break a pattern for emotional impact when that pattern hasn't even been created successfully in the audience's mind yet seems kind of weird to me. Idk how to explain it lol. Oh, the video is named Reacting to Our Favorite Broadway "Slime Tutorials" (Sam & Ryan), if you guys want to take a look. That's where I got all of this (for some reason I can't link the video here).

No unfortunately I don't :( I only have Jordan's first half as Glinda argh. My recording stopped for second half, same thing happened for my Emily show too :(

@@mathshascalculus725 Ahhh so amazing to experience. She's so great as Elphie. My fave thing about her is how much she smiles when she plays her! Makes Elphie so endearing. And then she comes and does something like this during Defying Gravity and I'm shook every time haha.
@@wickedgirlyy Right? One thing that Zoe does that I love is how she really leans into making Elphaba's voice so nerdy during Act 1. Like she's the know-it-all in class who's socially awkward because no one liked to spend time around her. I think the Aussie Elphies we have right now all perfectly characterise how Elphaba's upbringing affects her now cause Sheridan really leans into Elphie's insecurity aswell and I just love both of them for it (I've never seen Jessica as Elphie and there are no known recordings so I wouldn't know about her 😞)

It's not every day from my experience. I saw the show around 20 times during the Sydney run and some days she would some days she wouldn't :') But omg when she does it is just insaneeeee!!!
I think she stopped doing it around the 18th or 19th of Jan cause every time I’ve seen her since then she’s sung this part softer as per the score but she still sings the “it just shows *when* you’re wicked” the same
@@mathshascalculus725 Yess agreed! Last time I heard it was def the 17th and then after that don't think I heard it again. Well glad we got to experience it regardless + at least we have some recordings :P It's gonna be interesting to see if she does it during the Melbourne run though! And ahh I just realised about the "it just shows when you're wicked" part!! I'm lowkey falling in love with that lil section now too!!!
@@wickedgirlyy just saw the show in Melb tonight and saw it last week during the day; can that she did do it in the matinee show last week but not when i went tonight, so I’m guessing its either an on or off thing or just whenever her voice feels comfortable

I noticed this too!! I think she might have stopped doing it sadly :( From my recordings I noticed that after the 17th of Jan, the next bunch I saw she chose not to. The best one I have is from the 17th, I'll upload it for you <3 <3
