Commuter traffic on A13 near Barking and Dagenham, East London, UK
Barking is a town and area in East London, England, within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. It is 9.3 miles (15 km) east of Charing Cross. The total population of Barking was 59,068 at the 2011 census. In addition to an extensive and fairly low-density residential area, the town centre forms a large retail and commercial district, currently a focus for regeneration. The former industrial lands to the south are being redeveloped as Barking Riverside.
Boat building has a long history, being used for the repair of some royal ships of Henry VIII. In 1848, 5 shipwrights, 4 rope- and line-makers, 6 sail-makers and 4 mast-, pump-, and block-makers are listed in a local trade directory. Hewett & Co continued in boat building and repair until 1899. Other industries replaced the nautical trades, including jute spinning, paint and chemicals manufacture. By 1878 Daniel de Pass had opened the Barking Guano Works (later de Pass Fertilisers Ltd, part of Fisons) at Creekmouth. Creekmouth was also the site of the major Barking Power Station from 1925 until the 1970s, burning coal shipped in by river; the current station known as Barking is further east near Dagenham Dock. In the 20th century new industrial estates were established, and many local residents came to be employed in the car plant at Dagenham.

See Mottingham, A Journey outside of ULEZ London, UK
I lived in Mottingham 1976 until 1995 , Happy memories . few Pubs no longer remain , Porcupine , King and Queen , Chinbrook .
The last 4mins is technically Bengeo, a village just outside of Hertford.
I have lived in Harlesden for over 35 years in Springwell Avenue off Park Parade; it's a shame you never went down our avenue and onto Roundwood Park and surrounding roads.
I saw an elderly person I know who always sends me birthday cards 😀
Great videos, lived in Catford 'till I was 18, sixty years ago. Unfortunately I didn't recognise any street or area!! Can you perhaps briefly screen the name of a street when your vehicle first turns into it.? It would really help us old duffers.
Looking for tour of shooters hill inc The Big plate cafe and fox on the hill
Fox under the hill !
turnpike lane to cambridge rounderbout is not a tour around edmonton
Lived her for 9 years in late 80s and 90s. Quiet place. Sad to see the Porcupine has gone.
6:28 That's Crofton Park Train Station .. but it isn't technically "Crofton Park". You would have to turn left at either one of the two roads immediately after the station and travel for about a quarter of a mile to actually be in the suburb of CroftonPark. Yours pedantically Me
I was born and raised on the Cherry Orchard estate. I've not been to the UK for 8 years now. Nice to see my old neighbourhood some big changes since I was last there. Good video thank you.
Yep about 4am in summer probably..
These areas suck. They stink of crime and labour mismanagment.
Did that trip daily for 6 years when I was a kid back in the 60s on my way to school in Streatham. Lived in Sydenham for over 20 years. Love it every time I go back.
Thanks for this, not been there for years but what a difference to the main high street, the roadway is so very narrow now and huge wide pavements. No wonder people say that drivers are not wanted in towns! Great music too.
Oh no Smokers Paradise has gone 😆
It’s now the paper shop
I lived there with my mother in 1941 till I was fostered out to Mrs Berry a close friend of my mother. who lived in Forest Hill SE 23.
The Oval,Kennington to Dog Kennel Hill .This is the correct Destinations.
The person who posted this hasn’t a clue
So, after 2 thirds into the film we finally arrive at Crofton Park.
so so so beautiful...I LOVE IT
Quite a long road Portland road heading towards telegraph hill
I always enjoy these drive arounds! I've subscribed!
Thanks for this video, a trip down memory lane. I lived in Barnet on Warwick road.
I grew up off of shooters hill road in fact you past my street,it made me quite emotional.I live abroad now.Have you been along the old kent road & new cross way?
thank you for taking the time out to make the video, all the best from Ireland
Born there and lived in Kent until 11yrs of age then moved to Canada.
North West LDN, you flopped already
Haven't been here for years.
Dunno
got it wrong, chatham is a wreck,Rochester is the MAIN shopping area😂
I visit my daughter who lives in Loughton. It's a great place. Has lovely Cafes/restaurants, nice independant clothes shops. A few supermarkets. Quite a lot of Churches that are good for reasonable teas and coffees. + [todler activity areas] Sport Centre and library. a wide variety of independant shops. Quite fantastic for a relatively small population.and of course the Tube which you can access popular London tourists destinations.
Surprised it wasn’t included in Greater London as Romford is further out than Loughton. Technically Loughton could be north east London, maybe snobbish residents stopped that happening i.e Chigwell
@@alexanderpostings7208 Iv'e no idea, but it's located, amid Epping Forest/countryside ..it would be difficult to argue it suffered from polluted air.?.I wouldn't say it's a posh posh place, there are monied people around 'thank God' or you wouldn't have the lovely shops and Cafe etc. That said there are plenty of Council housing around and about., and plenty of WORKING Class. in a working town. It's a very good mix.{I don't recall seeing any beggars or drug addicts speed-walking around the town. Feels safe
Yes true, it kind of feels a mix, but yes Loughton is nice, I’ve never lived there but have visited a lot and it’s like you say affluent but not posh posh but kind of moneyed. It’s a nice area, you do get more of an Essex vibe so it would be hard to see it in Greater London
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽
It's in North London not West
I am from Acton W3 …I live IN AMERICA 🇺🇸 Thank you so very much .
1994 October 11th passed my Marine engineering exam in Orpington DOT examination center. Love this place. Thanks Referral. 💞💞💞💞💞♥♥
Always referred to Orpington as Kent ,also Bexleyheath and welling, but I think they have all been gathered into Greater London. Orpington still looks like a country town.Nice video, not been there for years .Thanks😊
Most of this video isn't even in Edmonton, let alone within the Enfield borough.
Lived in forest gate ,Windsor rd. 1967. Roller skating was a good Saturday night, when I was 15 .
And it has a nice tube station, take you right into Oxford St for the mass shoplifting and anarchy😊
That's not the Loughton I grew up in.
I agree. I was there from 1943 to 1965 and what I see on this video is largely unrecognisable. Sadly.
Agreed 1979-1996 for me. It's like Ilford and Romford now!
Born there in 1939 and lived there till 1956. I didn't recognise any of it.
its quicker to walk than drive!
A ABSOLUTE DIRTY DANGEROUS DUMP...Stabbings, attacks, murders.....at night..its the hub of north west London for drugs.....
This was NOT chatham town it was Churchill avnue.
MOTTIMGHAM is one of the quietest places like fr
More like a suburban high street, than a town centre
Quite ❤
As Leyton is in the East End of London, Leyton is definitely a diverse suburb, with a very large Asian population, with white and black being the minorities.
Lol when I drive this route with no cars in front of me, i am extremely quicker. Safe of course 😅
Turnpike lane to the Great Cambridge roundabout is hardly an afternoon in Edmonton. Nice to see Woodgreen, Turnpike lane, Lordship lane and the A10 nostalgically. Good road trip.
