Developer Sleirsgoevy is working on a Blu-Play port of Doom, using Cybil MIPS transpiler to turn C source into BD-J. The result is extremely impressive with its high framerate, here demonstrated running on a PlayStation 3 There's currently no audio in the game. The music was added afterwards. PS2 doesn't have a blu-ray player, so it won't work. PS3, PS4 and PS5 has a Blu-ray player, as well as X-box One and X-Box Series X. And then of course any standard player as well.
DVDs were so interactive back then..

This was clearly done to make up for the fact that the full Liar's Dice scene was shortened during editing and I love it for that.

Will this work on normal blu ray players?
Yes it will run, but a standard remote control only lets you press a single button at a time, so if you're only using the D-pad, you can't move while firing. However, if your remote has number buttons, then you can use those to move in 8 directions while firing at the same time. 2 will move up + fire 3 will move up+right + fire 4 will move right + fire and so on.

Amazing video!! Fairly atmospheric :) As if an episode or side-spot of the main movie series got opened up 👍👍 Are there some other hidden gem videos on the other episode Blu-Ray discs?
Most DVD and Blu-ray versions of movies come with bonus material, typically just additional videos like backstage footage and interviews etc., but sometimes also a game or two. In recent times, streaming services has finally begun including this bonus material with the movies too, but right now the games are too complex for the streaming platforms, so they remain exclusive to the Blu-ray and/or DVD version. I have uploaded a few Blu-ray games from other movies too here on my TH-cam channel, and recently discovered a game on Disney's "Snowwhite" as well, which I may make a video of in the near future too. :)

@@landymaui4465 I don't think so no. But what country is that? I was sure it would be included on the Blu-ray version of the movie in all countries. This does not include the DVD version though.
It's kinda sad how DVD games go so unnoticed, this was just uploaded 3 years ago and yet it has so little views. While some are just basic puzzles DVD extras like these are quit frankly amazing with a lot of dedication to them, I fear that some might become lost media now that DVDs aren't as popular thanks to streaming services.
Oh my gosh the fact that they bothered to do this just shows the dedication these actors have to their work.
They almost look and sound like old flash games, i rrmembered playing interactive remote on my disney dvds back in childhood, and it's cool that you can play actual video games on a physical film disc :D

To make everyone satisfied, any game should be stuffed with options for the player to decide everything. But even then, someone would still complain there are too many options. ;-)

@@machinarum No, it's a done project. :) If you're into nostalgia about the G7000 / Odyssey II, then you might find 8bitmemoirs.com interesting. It's a blu-ray disc ebook with my memoirs about those childhood memories. There is also a PDF and ePub3 version available, although those doesn't come with the 9 hours of supplemental video material and the 5 hours of music.
