Can't be too much wrong with that, they do generally misfire a bit at idle, though the idle sounds a bit high, they should tick over quite happily down to about 600rpm. How hot was the engine? They are know for suffering vapor locks on hot days, mine is terrible if I get stuck in traffic - fine once you get driving and air flow cools the carb. Have you driven it, how does it perform under load? It does sound a bit more lumpy than normal, most fueling problems are actually ignition problems - I'd be giving the distributor a good going over first. Look for cracks in the cap, burnt points and a damaged rotor. It's common for the rotors to fail and short to earth down the pin. Condensers re always worth replacing if the points look a little burnt. Also check the earth strap between body and advance plate in the distributor, they are well known for failing and causing daft misfires, it seemed to get worse after you opened the throttle, the advance plate would have moved so that could be your issue.
