RC plane and quadcopter flying. We fly an assortment of planes and FPV quads and try to make a brief video every week.
West Michigan Parkflyers F22
Second day flying this cool little profile foamie with 2 motors and differential thrust. I was just starting to familiarize myself whit the weird aerobatics it can do with the twin motors, but unfortunately lost the plane in a garage fire.
I'll get another one!
PS: Yes, that is two different MIDI versions of Danger Zone!

Second flight of foamie profile Sbach which replaced my Dancing Wings Sbach. Mounted battery different from instructions and reinforced with light ply. It was breezy so I was careful, but this seems like a great flyer!

Lost orientation against a cloudy sky and dumb thumbed it in. The poor SBach has been crashed an repaired half a dozen times. I think it's done this time.

How is this possible. I live in Florida and you'd NEVER gain access to a Gym for this. If you apply for use of the building it's a $500 fee and Lots of paperwork plus Mega insurance costs! The county I live in has prohibited all flight in Parks and Public places.. Feels like Communist China.
Easy fix. Glue aileron back on with Aleens Tacky glue. Keep the glue line very thin so it can be flexed.
Thanks! This poor thing has been fixed so many times, the whole thing was flexing under any side loading. I've moved the parts over to a new profile SBach airframe by Red Eagle. It's different, but similar. I'll post a vid as soon as weather warms up!
No close fly bys with sound = zero subscribers
I do this for my friends and I, so I don't care 🍻
@@TheLostSquadron zero friends now. Do some fly bys with sound and get some friends.
@@meazy451Put some vids on your channel and let me know when to watch
The ho down music was a great cover for blocking out all sound of the sailplane people definitely don't want to hear. Frantic. Stressful. Minutes of m my life i can never reclaim.
Sailplane people wear white New Balances, suspenders and tuck their shirts into their pants. Definitely people I don't want around. 🤣
It made me nervous watching you mess with things (around 3 minutes in), considering the type of problem you were having, while the prop was still on. Otherwise, nice job trouble shooting the problem.
You are right, I should have been more careful. I suppose in my defense I could say I was messing with it a little off camera. Still could have got bit, that would have made a bad day real bad 😬
I just bought one of those. 🫣
I've only had mine a few weeks, it's a great plane I think you're going to love it!
Midi danger zone? Perfect music choice!
Thank you very much! 🍻
You shouldn't fly around hooligans.
So much truth!
You should switch to Spektrum
Not a bad idea. I'll have to save up for the white New Balances and black socks that go up over my knees. 😂
That was cool , I’d assume no damage to plane ?
No damage, fortunately chase drone has prop guards!
Cool vid , good views from drone , good music choice
this is so cool ordered the same plane waiting :)
Thanks! Still flying it, has been crunched and repaired at least 4 times. Very fun plane!
Про гирофлоу не слышали походу
Per the FAA, smaller craft need to yield to larger craft. We can clearly see who's to blame here.
cool
ohh i need to get a plane...
Nice maiden! Well, except for the first try. But turned out to be a real gem!
Can i install both the buzzer ANDD the thumb cam? if so, where? I want both the buzzer and the thumbcam on the baby ape but i cant find a place to solder both of them
Nice i like it🤟
Nice man🤟👍
Nice i like it👍👍
Sank my Tinyhawk II Freestyle with the runcam thumb some days ago now I'm waiting for the replacement: Baby Ape V2. Don't think I will go with the thumb again so. Never really liked it. Maybe Hawkeye V4 instead...
I never loved the video of the Thumb, but it works for the Ape because it's so light. I'll check out the Hawkeye V4! Thanks!
For the warranty, did you have to show proof of purchase ? I bought mine used
Hey Jon, I think I did show the repair guy my receipt because he had to request the parts from Peavey. It has been quite a few years so my memory is getting foggy! I may have taped the receipt to the inside of the cabinet, I will let you know what the part was if that's the case. He was an old tube amp guy and not thrilled to be working on solid state stuff!
Thanks!
Very good doctor!
Real nice indeed, we have subscribed 😎
Thanks! This is the first season I've flown indoors. Still can't wait for spring, but it's pretty fun!
What mount are you using? Both mounts that come with the thumb sit too far back for a 3s pack
That is the black mount that comes with the camera. The clear one is too fragile. Using it with 450 3s batteries and it has been fine through hundreds of flights. Merry Christmas!
Great video! I have a Kunai, it's great. But the motor burns out easily, it doesn't seem to be able to handle 20 amps for very long. Have you experienced that?
Thank you! I have purchased two of these, and the second one had a motor that was bad right out of the box. Great Planes support asked for a video and had a replacement out in a few days. I don't fly these super hard, usually just throttle to altitude then gliding around. If I had one of these die in flight, I'd probably look for an equivalent Sunny Sky. I don't think the stock motors are very high quality!
@@TheLostSquadron I had never heard of Sunny Sky until now. That is the solution for getting another motor should I need it. Thank you!
@@baerster No problem. They seem to be a tier above the stuff included in a lot of kits. If I bend motor shafts or anything on kits from Dancing Wings or other cheapies, I get the Sunny Sky motors for them. Good luck!
Not pilot fail,,,wing comes of.... bad system for the wing...
Thank you for the vote of confidence, I'll take it! 😄🍺 I don't want to place blame on the plastic wing clips though. I did notice a trait in the Ascent for the low throttle stall in tight turns. It was lazy flying on my part, if you keep it at 1/4 throttle this won't happen. I got in a bad habit of chopping the throttle from flying gliders with very light wing loading.
well done
Blaming me??? That craft was fully under control!
A mig maybe? Love the Airwolf theme song!🤩
That was as close as I can figure, since main clue was the Star. Looks like it's not a T-tail so must have been a later model. May try to get it down this winter, even though everything in it has to be shot by now.🍻
@@TheLostSquadron Wow a lost Mig from the Cold War era: Cool find! It’s worth the effort but don’t kill yourself getting it down!
My guess is it's one of your Radians.
I wish, mine disappeared forever!
Nice flying great views 👍
Nice documentary! Definitely brought back Speedy memories.
WRONG PROP.!!! 'squealer'
fantastic chase... one day ill enter the world of wing.. haha
Definitely do both! They're totally different experiences that compliment each other!
Whoever is flying those planes really has an amazing amount of skill! So fluid and precise. It's really amazing to watch that unknown pilot work his or her wonders in the air!
He's better left unknown, he'd probably be unbearable 🤣🍻
How difficult was it to add ELRS to the crocodile? I’m new to all this but been told ELRS is the way to go.
Very easy! Remove existing receiver, solder the ELRS receiver in its place (I flash bind them via WiFi before ever connecting them), and set your protocol to CRSF in Betaflight. The hardest part for someone new is probably soldering the tiny pads on receiver and flight controller. Make sure you have a hot iron and small tip!
Thanks! How many solder points were there as in not too good with soldering lol Also is this what you picked up? geprc.com/product/geprc-elrs-nano-receiver/
@@nickshanks4 Hey, I'm using HappyModel receivers. I don't even thing GEP was selling them when I converted the Crocodile. There will be 4 solder points on the receiver and 4 on the Croc flight controller. I guess the main "gotcha" to worry about is that you have to cross the Rx and Tx pads... Rx from the Receiver to Tx on the flight controller and vice-versa. They're opposite because one talks and the other listens! Good luck!
@@TheLostSquadron got it, cheers. Out of interest what controller you using and have you done any other mods to the crocodile?
@@nickshanks4 I'm using a Radiomaster TX16s with the Happymodel Pro ELRS transmitter in the JR bay. I think the only thing I've done to it since this video is adding a Runcam Thumb. I have hundreds of hours of flight time on this thing, let me know how you do with yours!
Nice Flight. Where is the CG on your Sbach and what is your all up weight with battery ? Mine seems to be tail heavy with the suggested CG.
I'm at work right now, I think it's pretty close to what the manual suggested. It does build a little bit tail heavy. I decided to use a 1500 3s battery pushed clear to the front of the battery bay. I also ditched the landing gear, even on smooth landings it will flex down and let your prop hit the ground!
Oh, I forgot to mention the ESC that came with the kit was bad. That problem with cutting out happened any time I went to high throttle quickly. I didn't realize it on this flight, but if I cut throttle and added it back slowly, it'd work. Totally went away with a new one.
@@TheLostSquadron Thanks for the reply... Good to know about the landing gear flex. I bought exactly the Motor, ESC and Servos that the Instruction Manual suggested. I'm even using a slightly heavier 2200 mAh Battery and I still need an extra 25 grams of lead weight at the nose to get the CG at 85mm.... Strange.
@@TheLostSquadron Yeah I've seen that same behaviour with some cheap Chinese ESCs...
Looks like u need more practice)
How install the beeper both?
I don't have a buzzer/beeper installed, but if you look at the flight controller instructions it says that its located on the back left of the board by where the LEDs are wired.
Soccer nets??? Ugh! That thing flew good. You should rebuild the nose on all your planes.
I wish a net would have caught it before it hit the dirt the first time! 😄🍻
Just a few things. I noticed you have measurements in english. I do not think you were far enough for RTH to work. If you are within the GPS distance from home parameter the copter will disarm and fall as designed. On the temp 192C Once you plug up the battery to your quadcopter it will start to heat immediately, best way to cool it to operating temp is to fly as soon as you get signals for GPS and receiver and VTX good to fly.
Thanks for suggestions. I had never received a temp warning, this was the hottest day of the Summer. The quad did have to sit a long time to acquire sats. I was able to get the RTH working successfully the following week. Not sure if the distance hand anything to do with it or not, but I was able to ascend and RTH from roughly the same spot. I'm almost ready to move this over to DJI, but want to make sure it's 100% reliable first.

Nice chase friend...
Thank you! 🍻
Good video and good clarification to be able to mount the camera, but could you tell me where you bougth the support?or where i could dowload the file to print it?thanks in advance
Both mounts were included in the kit.
oh no.. hope no damage to the quad
It didn't have a mark on it, didn't realize why until I watched the DVR footage, it did a perfect belly flop! I want this to be a long range cruiser with a DJI setup on it, but it does a lot of weird stuff!
