But we know that separation from Mom is traumatic for a baby. This is indisputable, and I think most people understand this - I've never met anyone who said they wish they'd been separated from their mother and their entire bio family. We also know that most adoptees suffer lifelong trauma and struggle with identity issues. We also know that not ALL adoptive parents are good people. Adoption does NOT mean a better life, only a different life. Are birth mothers told that their child will miss them and suffer greatly if relinquished? I would think that if Moms were told this, most would not choose adoption.

Hi, thank you for your wonderful story on your adoption & the information. I have finished foster care In Maryland 7 months. With All the mandated licencing-etc I want to adopt two 17 yr old sisters on the photo listing with Heart Gallery. They are in another state. Could you please direct me if I would need an agency and do All their requirements or a home study with agency towards adoption? Or your view would really be so welcomed and appreciated! Thank you & God Bless

Thank you for your great question, and congrats on completing the foster care licensing process, that is a very time-consuming task. You need to get a home study done either by your foster care licensing agency or a private child placement agency. You will need to find one who is willing to help you submit your home study to the Heart Gallery and be willing to attend a best-interest staffing on your behalf. Check with your foster care licensing agency first to see if they can help you with this process.

Great question! The hopeful adoptive families are generally not present for this (we were not present for our daughters). @@steffanyaye These statements maybe true, but it's not that easy in real life to smile, and give him the support he needed from me because it waa important to him , but we adopted our son at five month's, and he was a happy child. I during his childhood I would forget he was adopted, then when I did think about it I became very nervous. You see we are their mothers that went through all the ups and downs taking care of a child. They are our pride and joy, but some how the birth mother is what they have wanted see, wanted to find out about her family. I am going to say something I am not proud of, it seems to me that writers, media people glorify the birth mother, focus on their reunion and now the adoptee is full filled, now his life is completed . This is all he ever wanted. My job is done now he is with his real mother...but my heart is broke into pieces.
