Camping & Hiking at Grayson Highlands State Park

We camp at Grayson Highlands State Park and hike the Rhododendron trail and find the wild Ponies. We also hike the twin Pinnacles trail to Little Pinnacle and Big Pinnacle. The views are fantastic #Hiking #tentcamping #mountains #scenicviews

I had been craving a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich for a while. Tomato’s are getting ripe now so I make one, ok two, for lunch.
Camping at Linville Gorge and Roan Mountain trip - Carver’s Gap - Rhododendron Festival

We camp at the Linville Gorge off Old NC 105 and visit the Linville Caverns. We then head to Roan Mountain to attend the 77th Annual rhododendron festival at Roan Mountain State Park. After the festival we hike to the top of Round Bald at Carver’s Gap. #tentcamping

Great Video!!! You found a great spot as well! Gonna take my 7 & 3 year old in a few weeks. How do you hold you spot while you go out sight seeing? Also would love to know where you found this sight?
I use a ground tent so I set that up to hold the spot. It’s hard to get a spot with a view on the weekends but you can typically get a spot. If you enter Old 105 from the north, the Wiseman’s View turn off is about 4 miles in. The site we were in during this video is about another mile or so past that. Thank you for watching !

Those tent pads look really small, Doesn't look like my 10x14 family tent would fit.
Some are bigger than others. The tent I was using is 8x8. I feel like you could move the picnic table and set up there and have plenty of space at most of the sites.

There are some food vendors there. Also, there are a few restaurants 4 or 5 miles away in Denton. They give you a wristband so you can come in and out.

My maiden name was Land just wondering about your background. My Dad was from southern Illinois.
Several generations of my dad’s family was from Georgia.

Oh I smelled it ! Just didn’t get it on video. I learned about the smell test from an old guy I sold a rug to years ago.

The Two Handles on your mystery item, is throwing me off. , at first I thought it might’ve been a primitive horse tail / Mane comb brush.. but with the two handles it looks like it’s made to get more pressure on whatever it’s combing… if it’s even a comb, lol 👍👀👍? Thanks for a great video Gary!
After looking at it more, I think it was used to scrap something. It’s not a saw blade. May have to feature this on your “what is it ? Wednesday” video.
I think the plane that has the two handles on it is actually a cake dressing plane. What they used to dress cakes with for fancy people.
