Same issue with mine did anybody ever locate the culprit?
Mine did this also. The darn wires to the coils were in the wrong position. It's weird. The shortest wire goes to spark plug 6 instead of 4. It looks like his wires are in the wrong place. Question does anyone know the EGR Valve and Solenoid hose diagram? Is there 1 hose with 2 heads? A few of my hoses were hooked up wrong by well intention mechanics. Just curious.
Same deal with mine. I had my check engine light on with codes p0455 and p0457. Thought it was the purge valve, changed the purge valve. Changed out several vacuum hoses and still get it hissing. Sounds like it is coming from under the manifold or in the lower back of the engine bay.
Same issue with mine did you ever locate the culprit?
@@samuelm5140 have to check all the vacuum lines to eliminate them as an issue, but mine ended up being the air idle control valve. Never would have guessed. Changed it and it fixed the problem. I recommend covering the vacuum line ends with a little silicone to ensure the lines are sealed
@@5000go2 Dang. I don't have any codes showing up but it's still making this hissing noise with rough idle. I changed my MAF, IAC, and PCV valve and it's still hissing.
@@samuelm5140 intresting, I would be concerned with the lines. You hit the main areas of automatic vacuum control regulators. Personally, I would take pictures of the vacuum lines and remove them all. Loss in air pressure is definitely concerning. How does it idle? Does it fluctuate, or studder? Or does it stay at a constant level?
@@5000go2 Thanks for the replies. OEM lines so they're definitely not in the best shape (almost 20 years old). Idle fluctuates with the hissing noises. Drops down to ~500 before it recovers to ~800. Steady at 700 between the hisses. Hasn't stalled yet but it the shudders at 500rpm make me worried.
There is an ENTIRE vacuum hose missing here. It goes right next to the hose that runs across the top of the intake manifold, into a wire that is connected to the throttle body.
Go Marina! Love to see fellow lady mechanics!
Intake gasket I just found my problem just like that
Did you ever figure this out? Mine is doing the exact same thing. Any help would be appreciated
