Would love to see you make a video going over Th3Birdman, especially his Grifter video series. He used to be an entertaining content creator, making Everything Wrong With Cinemasins videos; critiquing and correcting Jeremy's incorrect "Sins" and review of the movies. But in recent years, he's been on a smear compaign to call TH-cam creators like Critical Drinker, Nerdrotic, EFAP, etc as Racists, Sexists, etc. And he even considers Bob and Actual Fandom as friends.

A lot of people got excited and carried away by Fallout coming to TV and also the great production value. But the plot is atrocious, just like everything these days from the states. Nothing is faithful to the source material. Just look at Halo. What a disaster. I not sure if I can even hate watch the second series.

It felt like I was watching a video in the middle of a Livestream, cause I had no idea wtf was going on 🤣. Seriously, your channel was on my feed and I saw the "interesting" title. Then it starts and you don't explain what is going on and why you're making a video on this creator. I guess it's on Organized Chaos, whoever that is, but wow just wow. Just terrible

As somebody that loves film. You’re all cancer. Organized chaos, mauler. You all have nothing interesting or insightful to say. And most people that care about film, are better off watching zero TH-camrs.

CORRECTION: Bob does not have a film degree. He went to college for film but did not graduate with a degree. He posted he went to college for film on his linkedin and I assumed he would only do that if he got a film degree, so that's my bad. Whenever I say "he has a degree in film" just know that while he went to college for film, he does not have a degree. I don't think it effects any of my arguments but I also don't want to spread a mistake.

1:03:23 Ah yes, the good old show don't tell issue. The issue here is that there are two levels of interpretation going on. There is the surface level, which Organized Chaos operates on, and there's the deeper level that EFAP are operating on. The surface level is that, in a visual medium, you ought to visually show things play out instead of tell the audience what happened. Makes sense. But the thing is, show versus tell also exists in books, a non-visual medium. How does that work? Well, this is where we get to the deeper level interpretation of text versus subtext. Don't have characters outright say what they really mean, have them imply what they really mean. And in this case, a memory store, though very visual, is actually just telling, especially in how it is portrayed. There is no interpretation to be had, this is exactly what happened, it is just text. And talk about lucky that Doctor Strange just happened to step on the thing to make it activate and it just happened to pull out the memory that the plot needed from him. But dialogue, despite it being non-visual and seemingly just telling, can actually show a lot about a character via subtext. How do they describe the event? What do they choose to tell and what do they omit? Are they a reliable narrator of their own past? Do they have a different perspective with hindsight or do they feel the same now as they did while living in the event? And it is something that characters must deliberately engage in, there is no luck in dialogue. I've heard an alternate saying for show don't tell that I think causes less of this confusion. Serve don't feed. The creator of the art is like a waiter at a restaurant. They present food to the audience. They can control how it is presented, but you ought to let the patrons eat the food themselves, engage with it on their own terms. You wouldn't want the waiter to pick up the food and force feed it to you.

25:12 "Claims [MauLer's] brain can become a robot for analyzing media." I'm convinced that anybody who brings up "the robot" does not understand the purpose of the robot. MauLer has never said that his brain "becomes the robot". The robot was a hypothetical that he used against Just Write, I believe. It's purpose is that it is a simple input-output system, it will point out a flaw regardless of what media the flaw was in, a simplified representation of the methodology that MauLer tries to use to critique media. This is because Just Write was being a hypocrite with his criticism for Game of Thrones and the lack thereof for The Last Jedi. They'd share flaws, but Just Write ignores the ones in TLJ yet points out those same flaws in GoT because he enjoyed TLJ and let that affect his critiques. But Just Write never engaged with the hypothetical and blanket said that the robot doesn't exist. It would be better to describe it as a standard with which one ought to hold yourself to for your criticism to be more objective, to separate yourself from biases that you may have and to simply analyze the quality of the work itself first and foremost. And MauLer himself has said that he regrets ever bringing up the robot, not because it's bad inherently but because idiots like Organized Chaos and Actual Fandom take it in bad faith and say that he's calling himself a robot just like this and not a standard with which he holds himself to.

The frustrating thing about "these people" is that they will engage in a behavior, when called out upon it they will deny it and then if you prove that they indeed engaged in said behavior they will act flippant and pretend like you're overreacting, that it doesn't even matter. Bob going through Maulers video to try and find homophobia should have been reason enough for him to ask himself whether he is being unreasonable but therein lies the absolute proof of how bad faith he is which, unsurprisingly, he doesn't care about because he thinks it's fine to be bad faith to those he consider bad. It's funny how someone can claim to be progressive and on the "good" side yet only spout hate without stopping for a second to reflect on whether he might be the bad guy after all. Good video!
