Secret ? It is mega touristy, it's top tier in all the guidebooks... You will have similar landscape and a lot fewer tourists in Tasmania, coz it's a bigger island. I have to say I was quite disappointed by Kangaroo Island. The koala park is quite bad because the trees are too tall to see them (compared to the Otways where they're much lower), the beach with all the seals you have to pay a premium to visit, rock formations are an instagram nightmare spot, and you have to pay a lot for accommodation, the ferry etc... Go to Tasmania, where everything is cheaper, bigger, more diverse, with smaller crowds.
