I can respect that, although it's probably been too long since the Saints won one huh? But RE Daniels: it's his first year, and I'm not sure how useful stats are without context. The team slumped when he was dealing with the rib, and he also had the flu according to what may or may not be his uncle. His alleged youtube uncle, let's just say. But he played pretty good against both the Steelers and Ravens, although I was unhappy about his Eagles game and most of all his Dallas game, the only embarrassment so far. And the Bucs game was his first one in the pros. Gotta give the guy some time. PS: Also also he was personally responsible for busting his rib against Carolina in the first place, and one's tiny eyes are peeled for any more of that. I try not to pile on with undue requests, but fewer cartoonish accordion tackles across the middle as if you're Wile Y Coyote, please...Is that really too much to ask?

The Saints were lowkey a 2nd favorite team for me in the NFL after my Chargers but that's all history now, what with the dirtiest play in the history of my NFL watching these past many decades. WTF, bro. Shameful. Not even a penalty? Justin Herbert was recovering from a bad plantar fasciatis like thing in the off season and a high ankle sprain the previous weeks.

Big Saints fan of forty-five years here in Canada. I've never seen this podcast before and I'm wondering why it is called the 28-3 podcast. Clearly it is a reference to the Patriots/Falcons Super Bowl, but why? Are you just trolling Falcons fans? I'm curious and confused in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Of the QBs who played in the preseason rattler played the best football, against the same competition (carr struggled vs 2s and 3s as well), which is why national football ppl are intrigued. But he should only start games this year if DA/Carr do their usual thing and can't beat good teams and end up with 2/3 wins by week 9 or 10. the last 4 weeks against tanking teams last year really distort the view of carrs play, he was largely awful in all games that mattered, he has to prove he can be a + player, otherwise there is zero reason to play him going into next year. he has to prove he's worth 30+m a year. and on the AT play, it was underthrown bc the DT was literally on him, carr flatout cannot make that throw in that situation, if rattler is able to step into it its a walk-in td. if we're going to talk context, you have to look at it all. final Brian comment...the TE pass is not a hospital ball. those are throws that leave you with no chance to protect yourself, often forcing you out of frame catch wise. Rattler led him, he could catch and drop to protect himself. that is a common MOF throw to TEs. yes its a tight window throw, but those are not the same.

I'm convinced Sean was the brains of the operation, not Loomis. We need another coach with a strong personality down here to shake things up, take control, and give us a sense of direction. I don't think Loomis wants that to happen again. He'd rather maintain his control than win.

I think we're missing the forest for the trees. Ownership is checked out on this team, and has never really been serious about winning. Brees and Sean uniting here was an aberration. Picking Brees was actually a classic Saints franchise move: sign a cheap, hand-me-down QB. Judging by Payton's record in Denver now, Brees might have been the reason for most of his success. Even when those 15 years are put under a microscope, the neglect is evident. We wasted years not taking the defensive side of the ball seriously, failing to draft top receivers, and ignored searching for a successor to Brees when he was clearly entering his decline. We're too sentimental. We let players hang around too long, or worry too much about people's feelings instead of doing what's right for the team. We had opportunities to get Lamarr Jackson, trading up for Mahomes, and even passed up on signing Brady because we wanted to give Brees the final word even though he couldn't throw further than 15 yards. The organization is terrified of bringing in anyone from the outside that might rock the boat and demand change. The product they put on the field reflects that fear. The roster we have now is mostly locked in until 2026. There's a chance we can significantly improve next season with a good OC and some good OL picks in the draft, but we still won't be competitive enough to win a Superbowl with our current talent. Especially as some of them decline with age. We're going to keep treading water in mediocrity unless there is a fundamental change in philosophy at the top. The NFL is a boom or bust league. Being good enough to win a playoff game or two is a waste of time. You either want to be really bad or competing for a championship. Ownership is satifisfied staying stuck in the middle. We're trapped in football purgatory.

Great podcast. Looking forward to more episodes. I disagree that "one title" with an elite QB isn't a "failure." Winning a SB takes an insane amount of good luck. Did Brees deserve to be in more SBs? Absolutely. The fact is that organization failed him in a lot of ways and the league screwed us over once. Brees will never be in the top 10 only because he played in a small market.
