Ren is quite simply, a gift. This song , this performance ( it’s so much more than that) was most of our introductions to Ren. It made ME ( and judging from the comments section many many others) feel seen, heard, understood- in a profound and deeply personal way. This was a buoy. I could give you his story or journey but I could never do it justice. For that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND going to his second channel “ RenMakesStuff” and watching The Chapters ( 1-8) which culminated in his song TROUBLES. The chapters are deeply personal and I, personally don’t think it’s something to react to; but after watching them react to Troubles.You will be bombarded with requests and suggestions by my fellow Renegades. Don’t feel overwhelmed, we are a VERY passionate but understanding community. Enjoy ❤

I'm just now catching this reaction - new sub, welcome to the Renegade family! I'll echo other recommendations to watch Sick Boi next, because this version won't be around for much longer. Ren will be redoing the audio, so you probably only have a few weeks with this version before it's gone.

Lovely reaction to this wonderful piece of art. This song is Ren's battle with his darker self or his subconscious as he states in the song. Ren has endured many years of physical and physiological pain as a result of contracting Lyme's disease in his late teens but being misdiagnosed in the subsequent 7 years as a variety of psychological disorders instead. As a result, not only was his disease allowed to run rampant throughout his body, but was treated with medicine for psychological disorders which only made the problem worse. He eventually got the right diagnosis (around the time of this video) but by then he felt at death's door and had developed a variety of autoimmune conditions as a result which led to some brain and nerve damage. Throughout, Ren's love of music get him through the hard times and wrote amazing pieces. Since diagnosis, Ren has had various treatments that have helped getting him into a much better state of health but he still endures some pain among other symptoms . Ren doesn't really have a genre and every song is a wonderful surprise so I encourage you to continue to check out his body of work, which is quite a lot at this point. You do you in reactions, but my only advice is to please stop and rewind if you want to make a comment on his songs. This is not a criticism but just helpful advice bc, unlike many other artists out there, Rens' songs can be packed full of rich lyricism or visuals that, if you miss may impact the overall meaning and enjoyment of the song. Looking forward to more. Ps. Rxpect a flood of Renegades to turn up. We are very devoted ❤😅

I've heard Ren a few times before and liked it a lot but I hadn't seen this. Amazing! I believe he is talking about the battle between the emotions and the intellect. What you feel as opposed to what you know. An extreme case admittedly. The following is the first time I've externalised this so I hope you'll forgive my self indulgence but if not, feel free to just scroll past it. I recently (well, not so recently now but it's been with me constantly) lost my dog (not the one that's my avatar, he's a different story) and it felt like my life had no meaning anymore. At 74 she had become my only companion. I'm an atheist so don't believe in any kind of afterlife but I stood before the picture of her beautiful face daily and felt strongly that she was there hearing me talk to her and keeping an eye on me. Events even seemed to bear that out. I was split between my belief and my feeling. I fought to get equilibrium and after quite a long time I finally realised I could acknowledge my feeling because it comforted me while realising intellectually why I was doing it. I eventually gave myself permission to feel that way as long as I reminded myself that those feelings did not negate my belief and that both emotion and reason could exist simultaneously, even when at odds, as long as I acknowledged what I was doing. Balance is tricky. I still do it but less often and it still comforts me. And I still also believe there will be no rainbow bridge.

Ren is special. This was performed in his friends basement in 1 take. I love watching people experience this for the first time. Please check out the tales of jenny and screech trilogy. Wont be disappointed. ❤❤❤

The story behind the song. Sam was dating someone but was in love with someone else. He knew that he needed to have that conversation with her. The song is basically burning a good thing with his girlfriend so he could go tell the other person he loved her. Sam was living in his van at the time trying to save money and the budget for this song was $53.
