Great stuff, but how sturdy is it compared to standardt-formex? by the way: Are you planning a review for the new Ocoee? Unfortunely there isn't much 1st Hand info about the boat. Thank you!
I know nothinh about this so I wonder: Why do you want a symetrical boat? Isn't that a compromise in both ends?
A lot of popular shapes are symmetrical. Best advantage is the boat feels good paddling solo from the bow seat facing back. Some good asym boats out there but not very common in whitewater

Thanks for the video. I would like to see the P15 in T-Formex Lite.
I picked up a used Avalon at the beginning of this past summer and have loved it. I am now looking forward to next spring and I'm trying to decide on a second, more versatile, canoe. I am interested in feedback on the differences between the Canyon and the Prospector Sport (in regular T-Formex) as I think one of these two models would serve as a fantastic complement to my Avalon. I would love to hear opinions on the two models.
The sport is more versatile while the canyon is more dedicated to moving river tripping. On a lake they both will not track as well as the Avalon but the sport will be better than a canyon. Canyon is king if you intend to do a bunch of rivers
Thank you for the information@@Paddle_ca! My instinct tells me that the Prospector Sport would be the smartest addition to the Avalon as we have not done a lot of moving water yet. Our current experience is on mostly flat water with some rapids up to Class II. That said, the small taste of rapids that we did have this past summer was very enticing. I guess I do not want to buy a new canoe and feel like I have limited myself in what I can do and how I can grow in my canoeing experience. I appreciate your help and your comments.

Hey man! We came in and just barely caught you a few months ago. Looked at the used yellow 18' but ended up with the red prospecteur 17'. It was myself, my wife and kids. Anyways. Canoes been great. First coupla paddles were more like drifting and spinning. But we got it now. It was awesome talking to somebody who liked what they did. I appreciated that. Down the line i could see a second boat, for a single person to probably be a good idea. Id buy from you again in a second. Hope its going well!

Thanks for the video. I just picked up this exact canoe, in orange. (unfortunately I didn't purchase it from you since you're too far away from me). I've only had it out for about an hour so far, but I think I'm going to love it. I see one last trip for me before it gets too cold.

Esquif is not currently making that one. You might want to look at the Huron 15 Lite

Shallow arch. P-sport from esquif is slightly rounder than the p15 or p16

I think they are starting with the most popular models and would expand from there. Echo at 45 pounds is not too bad right now - fairly easy to shoulde

I’m debating between the Adirondack and the echo, will be a fishing,hunting and backcountry solo boat. Lots of time in Algonquin and southern rivers of Ontario. Already own a tandem canoe looking specifically at a solo
For speed and maneuverability the echo. For primary stability the Adirondack. For lots of gear, the prospecteur 15 or Huron 15. Personally I really love the echo. I would probably take it in olive with vinyl trim for hunting to save on maintenance and look sleek in the woods. Come try them side by side if you come to the Ottawa area.
@@Paddle_ca how hard is it to get a removable yoke for the echo? Definitely a boat that will be doing some big portages
@@Paddle_ca also I read a Reddit post I think from you actually about the keel of the Adirondack getting worn to the hull before a scratch on the bottom of the hull, would one of the Kevlar keel protection kits help with that?
@@Nerdthan2 it’s fairly easy to add a yoke to either boats and skid plates would help the Adirondack a bit.

I think you meant to say the dunoine from lake Benoit! 😅 happens to all of us! I loved my p17 in tformex lite. Got it banged up against rocks in rapids and the material did great! I don’t see any difference then the regular material for toughness so far so I’m sold!!!!

I love my Prospecteur Sport. One of the best boats on the market if someone could only own one canoe but want to do everything possible. With a kneeling thwart, it’s super fun solo in whitewater. Good model for the lite offering too. I would foresee oil canning being an issue on some of their other offerings, but not this one with the round bottom.
I feel the same way, the prospecteur sport would be my boat if I could only have one. …but I have a few more that my wife knows about 😝
What’s oil canning? I’m in Australia and I have a Prospecteur 15 on the way
@@syntropia_regenerator happens on flatter bottom canoes commonly and it’s when the force of the water pushing up on bottom of the canoe causes it to push inward. Similar to pushing on the bottom of a paint can. Canoe company’s counter this by making the bottom thicker, adding ribs, foam core imbedded in the laminates or by using a rounder hull shape.
Can you confirm that this model does in fact not oil can with the t formex lite? I heard the new Huron 17 with the "lite", oil cans a little bit, but I unfortunately missed being able to demo it.

I have the 16 and have been been out tripping with it for a few years. Its a tough stable canoe and I love it. The one issue is, its pretty heavy so I wouldn't recommend it if you are doing long portages. I guess that's the price you have to pay for the white water durability. Thanks for the video.
