This is my group project for university and my first game. Lost Gods is a hoard style, third person shooter developed using Unreal engine 4 with mainly C . Did you know that they added support for proper rendering for orthographic cameras?
@@lennysmileyface yh I tried using it when I first started but I had problems with the quality of the shadows. It looked very pixelated. I tried playing with it for a bit but it didn't look too good

I feel you! I know that UE has its very well built Gameplay action system, but I love to challenge myself in doing my own action/ability system. Yes its time consuming, but i'm doing it for fun anyway ! Your game looks great rn, keep the good work and don't overscope ;) A solo dev's worst ennemy

You asked for status effects, well i'm a fountain of ideas. How about, when you're on fire, you can burn tall grass around you and when you created a certain pattern (displayed in the area) it spawns a high value reward. I found puzzles more fun than secrets! Hope this helps!

Is that game mechanic Devil may cry platform and god of war combat?
Arcilion Venuture Samagoar Gumich hi, it’s neither. I was inspired by darksiders combat system but there are some differences. The main one is that each weapon has its own fixed combo rather than the player choosing which combo to perform.

Arcilion Venuture Samagoar Gumich what I meant, is in my game each sword has a unique set of attack animations. Meaning the attack animation will play in the same order each time. Where as in other games you can change the next attack animation depending on different button press or when you press the button. My game is not as flexible

I won't have the time to create a course, however there are plenty of good UE4 udemy course that are very similar on how this game was built.

looks like grezgorz dynamic combat system put into use. very nice work
may want to work on your ragdoll physics, its not that hard to make a new ragdoll for a model. Cause the default mixamo ragdoll physics for there models suck. I made a new ragdoll for a model in 1 hour with no prior knowledge of how to do it.
At the time when we actually made the ragdoll model we didn't know what we was doing hahaha. They are really bad lol

Hi, so i think you need to watch this video: th-cam.com/video/C16vlfe3pXc/w-d-xo.html This explain how to use "slots" which allows to the play an animation while moving. If you need any more help look into in more detail and then msg me again. Hope that helps

Jordan Rashaun yeah I'm interested in a list of steps involved in a proper animation ( you know like step by step ) and what each step is for
Its very hard to give you a step by step on how to do animations(or anything in general) because its not a simple task and programming can be solved in different ways. You didn't specify exactly what part you needed help with or say whether you are using blueprint or not. No matter ill try my best to help you. This guide from Tom Looman really helped us to bring our game together(Its quite technical and involves c++) tinyurl.com/oeann83 This video series will show you how to create a third person game in blueprint and it will show you how to do the animations: tinyurl.com/y8mlalrz Character movement - For the main player we simply followed the ue4 guide found here tinyurl.com/qgh2h7c. This is a step by step guide that explains how to do everything to with movement Character weapon animations - This was more complicated to do and we did some parts in C++. For the reload we created a reload montage(montage setup: tinyurl.com/hbtj5vn), got the animation duration of the montage and used it for a timer so when it ended we reloaded the gun after the animation has finished playing For aiming in we had a boolean check to see if the player is pressing the aiming button, if the boolean is true, we blend in the animation in the anime graph. There is a lot detail i missing out because it will be way too long to explain. I really hope this helps, read/watch the first two links in this this post as they will help you the most.
