What are you going to do about the City of Westland's EXTREME taxes? The taxes that residents are paying are 3-4 times MORE than nearby cities that are much nicer, newer, and more attractive to new businesses. We need a mayor that is brave and willing to make DRASTIC changes. I'm talking, ~50% taxes cuts or more. Difficult decisions need to be made, but a brave and courageous mayor should be able to do that for the benefit of the Westland community. If other cities can keep taxes to a reasonable level, why can't Westland? If you want to improve the lives and well-being of the citizens, then be brave and do the necessary things of slashing the over-taxation of the Westland citizens. Not only will that provide financial stability for the citizens, but it will also be attractive to businesses. If you don't do that, why would I, or anyone else, stay in this city? Why stay here when there are nice, newer, and growing cities a couple miles away that we could move to and pay 67-75% less taxes? Why would I bring my business here when it would be taxed exceedingly and the surrounding citizens have less disposable income in their pockets to support my business?

Tradition matters! I am disappointed that at this council meeting the students were not greeted as in the past with an opportunity to be presented recognition certificates, publically by the Mayor, City Clerk, and Council President. Shame on you Council President! This is your meeting and you failed these kids. Were the certificates even made? Unacceptable regardless of who failed!
