External Brick Slip Installation - Brick Slip Backer Board and Direct Masonry Application
You can install our brick slips directly onto masonry, but where the masonry is not stable or level or if it's a large area you may find it better to use our brick slip backer boards.
The backing boards can be screwed into timber frames, ICF or any other stable substrate to help you make a fantastic transformation with your choice of brick slip.
This is how you can clad that horrible breeze block wall, create a nice retaining wall, clad your garage or outbuilding, or reclad your entire home.

We'd recommend using our brick slip sealant too to help with cleaning up.

      Yes, in an ideal world you would- many installers though just add the adhesive to the back of the slip and place it with a slight twist as it's quicker and more efficient, but you're right the perfect way is to get adhesive on both.

      We'd never want to tell someone with as much experience as you what the best way to do it is. It is a subjective issue and there's no one way to do it, however using a mortar gun is much easier for a DIYer, we do agree though that the frustration point is refilling it.

    Is it possible to do a barrel vault ceiling with brick slips?

    • @thebricktileco
      @thebricktileco 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, so there's 2 considerations- one is being on a ceiling, so you'll need to make sure the adhesive is suitable for it, highest strength that bonds to brick (and also a suitable solid substrate). The other thing is then the curvature, so depending on your laying pattern, you'll want to minimise the brick length on that curve- i.e have the shortest end on the bigger curve) hope that makes sense!

    • @thebricktileco
      @thebricktileco 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are based in the UK so we don't really have that issue, you can use a brick sealant to make sure any moisture doesn't get into the brickwork though, the only issue there is that it will seal any moisture in, so it has to be bone dry when applying it.
