    Love it! The best part is the baling and loading up the hay from the field! That's the job I wish I could do!

    I used to drive a feed truck For Dekalb feeds both when they were just DeKalb feeds and after Huber bought them. I’m racking my brain trying to remember if I ever delivered to your farm

    *How frequently does this malfunction occur, and what causes it to release the load of bales after the last one is loaded?*

    • @farminginnorthernillinois
      @farminginnorthernillinois 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When the last bale comes down there is a trigger that the bale hits and it triggers the gate. It hardly malfunctions.

    Sure not the same way I did it when I was a teenager, 50 years ago. It took about 8 to 10 people to do the same job, mostly teens. Tech Rules! Great video.

    • @farminginnorthernillinois
      @farminginnorthernillinois ปีที่แล้ว

      The ears were pretty decent, and our first couple of loads were wet testing about 23 percent, so we picked throughout the month and most of our loads tested about 17 percent about where it should be. And we are feeding the corn to cattle.

    Good to see you back. Your video reminds me when I was a kid in the early 1970's my friend lived on a farm and after they finished with picking ear corn his dad would let us use an old dodge 1\4-ton pickup and we would go pick up dropped ears out of the field. 4 or 5 of us kids would fill that truck up 2 to 3 times in a day and take it to the elevator and sell it. Usually, we would get about 100 dollars for the day to split between us and we thought that was pretty easy money for just one day's work. I am glad to see you learning how to work that old equipment and fix it when it needs it. That will stay with you all your life no matter what you choose to do. Problem solving is hard to teach, you just have to do it.

    Funny how soon hay season starts after plowing, no breaks for fun times yet. My family had a small farm in southern Illinois, and we also had a small wheat crop and oats to harvest in the summer too. I lived in a little town and would go help with work when I got out of school. Hay time was when I made some real money working on a hay crew, 5 crew members would do 800 bales in a long day. Those bales weighed about 65 to 75 lbs. each and we threw them on a wagon and then up into the loft of the barn. I think I would have preferred the big round bales everyone does now. Made good money for a teenager with the little bales but there is always work on a farm I could have been paid for. Find your fun where you can in the day, it's there if you look.

    Hey buddy, how are you doing, hopefully AWESOME, just had some ideas for you to try if your interested, in growing a bigger audience in the future, for example, in this episode, instead of jumping back and forth from looking back at the cutter and not saying anything about what is going on, you might wanna talk about what kind of tractor you are using plus the cutter or creeper whichever you call it. Also, if you keep your hay or sell it to other people or keep and sell half and what kind of hay your bailing and if you have more than ONE field and how BIG the field or fields are, and how many cuttings you normally get during a season, just things like that, people are interested in hearing about what you think and know about your farm and farming equipment also experience, keeps them coming back to see what you are doing on the next video, ALWAYS guessing, just trying to help GROW your channel, I like it so far, just have to try things that will grow, like the CROPS on a FARM 😆😆 CYA SOON on your next video 😷🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🌞😎

      Something else to help you out with that is watching channels like , BORDERVIEW FARMS, Brian's Farming, and SONNE FARMS might give you some relaxing tips and tricks how to SMOOTHLY get through the WORRY feeling about talking on camera, have to remember ONE IMPORTANT THING, it's your channel, people cannot touch you through the video 😆 keep that in mind and it will help you out EXTREMELY QUICK, I cannot afford to do anything like what YOUR doing but anytime you need me to talk to I'm here for you, I really like farming equipment and in general, my cousin had a chance to be a farmer and didn't and I couldn't, so anytime I get a chance to help someone I do it, CYA SOON 😎

    The farmer needs to be comfortable with long days of making circles and keeping his mind actively engaged in the process otherwise Murphy's law will kick in. Good to see you making hay, it reminds me of my summers when I was a teenager 50 yrs. ago.
