She had such a beautiful voice!!! So sad that, well, according what I have read, she never felt loved by her mother. When the therapist asked her mother if she could tell her daughter she loved her, her cold response was "Call me Mrs. Carpenter". Oh my gosh!!!! So so sad!!

This isn’t an official edit? Someone has simply edited the beginning back onto the end of the original recording (before Tony Peluso starts his DJ chat) then faded it out.
Definitely not official. The original was used from the Readers' Digest Carpenters collection. It has all the oldies songs without Tony Peluso's voice.
I like that this is an extended version of original song from the Now & Then album. The chorus ("...I'm in heaven...") is repeated, and I liked that. I think it would have been best if the song just faded out starting around the 2:00 mark till about 2:07. I'm not particularly a fan of ending the song with a repeat of the introduction...
Karen had the best female voice in my opinion. Such a shame that she passed away early.

I read somewhere -- Shelley didn't want to do it in the first place. She thought, in her teenage naitvety, that if she just said no, she wouldn't have to. The adults in the room informed her otherwise.

I’ve never heard the reprise of “Yesterday Once More” done like this. One difference I noticed was that this remix of the “Yesterday Once More reprise starts with the intro to the 1985 remix of “Yesterday Once More” and segues directly into the vocal used for the reprise, while still maintaining the same piano line. This is something that apparently was never heard on the original album mix nor on remixes done by Richard Carpenter. Another difference I noticed was that there are backing vocals tagged onto the end of the song just before Karen and Richard Carpenter’s original backing vocals fade out. Who sang these backing vocals.
Karen was the angel here. In the intro of the song she is singing "Johnny Angel" in 4 separate and distinct octaves. I could be wrong but I don't think Richard backed her up vocally, even on the harmonies, which Karen's voice was multi-tracked. Thanks for posting.

Yes, it was a huge hit on the American radio waves in 1962. It went to #1. She was not the very first to record it but had by far the most successful version, and so she is most associated with it.
