A Walkthrough the Old Boston Garden 1997
มุมมอง 141K14 ปีที่แล้ว
This video was in a video camera I bought on ebay a few years ago. It appears to be a salvage crew going through the building before it's demolition in 1997.
I didn't move here until the early 90's. I used to smoke then - I just recall the smokers hanging out at the upper level hallway (is that a promendade?) between Bruins periods. Feels like three generations ago, not one 🤍
I sat in those old wooden seats with no divider in between always without fail there was a large person that would sit next to you and take up their seat in your seat at the same time
My showtime Lakers did some cooking in that building and got cooked in there also went both ways
The old Chicago Stadium was the nicest of the old arenas. Should have kept it - would have been a big tourist draw - but big time sports only thinks in the short term.
Thank you for posting this. Does anyone remember the Priest like guy that stood by the turn styles every game and said "Help The Homeless" endlessly? The yellow chairs brought me back.
So sensitive and sensual and erotic
It would have been nice if he knew how to use a video recorder ...
Jesus christ, who was filming this video, Stevie Wonder?
Greatest memories of my childhood were watching the Bruins in that glorious building
I grew up in that beautiful building!!
That’s places has some much history you couldn’t even bottle it if they tried
How did I not realize they quit using this place in the 90s? I mean, I'm sure I did when I saw Boston Celtics games and didn't see the crazy floor but dang. I guess I just forgot.
Why did they demolished it
Worked security there in the mid 80’s. After games I did the midnight to 8 shift walking around the entire bldg in the dark with a shitty flashlight. Actually skated on the ice after the parquet floor was pulled after a Celts game. The ice was dry, rutted and covered with popcorn boxes, cups and other things. Felt like the best ice I ever skated on!
Probably wiping or scratching... like the other guy said, nobody holds a phone with the opposing hand to ear.
I went to a ton of Boston Braves Hockey games ( Bruins farm team in the early 70s) at The Gahden. Saw My Dad graduate from Northeastern there too. He was the Old College Guy. I saw plenty of Bruins games too. Not to mention a million concerts. Nothing like a J. Geils show at the Garden. Best of all was seeing The Grateful Dead there. First row balcony rite above Jerry. Best seat in the house. Like being in Heaven during Terrapin Station. God I Miss that place. ( My feet definitely stuck to the floor )I was from Medford and I could walk there. I took My kids there and got a few blonde bricks out of the pile and a gold seat Bottom from the Balcony. Came with gum and everything. I miss that place. It’s videos like this that bring Me back. Thanks again.
I got to play 2 hockey games there🙌
Where's the Monkey that escaped from the circus who would steal peanuts during B's games?
Mmmmm beer apparatus. I remember getting so many beers there as a 10 to 16 year old. 2 beer limit? 2 beers per hand. "Here's a tray kid." - Sully, the beer venda
what was that chalkboard used for? Looks like something a sports psychologist would write one while talking to Bruins or Celtics players. Figure it was before one of their final games in the building in 1995 and just never got erased...and was still there in 1997. Weird but fascinating
Love that old promenade sign at 8:32 (barely clear)
3:51, ah yes, the old Bruins train horn recording came out of that puny speaker!
It was a old rat infested fire trap but it was our old rat infested firetrap.
They could've went the route the Canadiens took with the Forum and expanded it to create some space and more seats. That way the concourses would be bigger and you can have more bathrooms and concession stands.
The old way of living died the day The Garden was closed forever! Am I wrong?
He's clearly scratching his ear, who uses an arm to hold a cell phone on the other side of their head?
2:02 "Best cup next to Stanley's." LMMFAO!!!!
They should've kept it as a historical landmark just like the astrodome.
I still remember taking the train into a red Sox game with my dad, it must have been spring of 98. I remember walking by and seeing the new fleet center and the garden being demolished, half of it was down and you could see in and see the remaining seats still standing. Closest I ever got to entering the famous gahdennnn
legendary boston garden
Great video! Thanks!
Been in there many times.
This guy should be banned from buying or even touching another camera, good christ guy.
I'm dizzy
Shitty
Dude had a hardon at 4:51
I live in Peabody Mass about 20 minutes north of BostonI wanted to know how can I get my hands on a couple of literally between two and three of those Boston garden chairsif someone could please let me know I would appreciate it I would love to have those in my house most.......
Feels like a prison video
This Sucks ! ! !
Cold beer!! Peaaaanutss!!
BTW, this guy films like an asshole
The golden era rinks were great. Terrible views, nauseating restrooms and you've probably sat under a leaky section of the ceiling at one point or another. But, who would have it any other way?
The big Scoreboard is now in the eating area of the Arsenal Mall in Watertown, MA
No its not they just redid the mall and removed the score board some one purchased it in auction and he's deciding what to do with it
@@paullagasse5504 damn they did I haven't been there in years
The first time i ever saw a game there from out of state i couldn't believe how small and sauna hot it was.But it was magical being in there. The place had a real sense of being in somewhere beyond special with the loud and obnoxious (and drunk) Boston fans and the pop corn vendors and characters . Those days are long gone at sports venues
Too bad the Garden had no air conditioning;Would have helped the Lakers in the 84 finals
"Who's OSHA?"
How could you use a cell in 1930? No cell towers
he's from the future, maybe cel towers won't be needed.
Larry bird should have bought it
Someone needs to do this with Rexall Place
I love the people pissin and moanin about the video quality. It makes them ' uncomfortable' Well having worked there for close to 7 years the vid encapsulates how it felt being in that environment each day perfectly. Like being in a time machine for me and these whiners have to remember it wasnt made with the idea of it ever being saved for the youtube generation. Just some guy doing estimates on how much money they could make on the memorabilia left over in the building.
The old Boston GaHden ! Brings back so many memories.
