Lake County Car Crash Accident Statistics
Hey, what's happening? Scott Kuboff, a car crash lawyer from the law firm of Ibold & O'Brien. Sitting here in my home office and taking a look at the Ohio State Highway Patrol's crash dashboard. Really interesting, it is a whole bunch of statistics from 2017 to current - which is updated on Monday, December 19th, 2022. So about five years of crash data and you can search by county.
For this video, I am looking at Lake County which is just north of Geauga County where our main office is in Chardon. But with Lake County, we're talking about folks from Willowick, Willoughby, Mentor, Painesville, and Concord.
Taking a look at that five-year period of time, 25,723 crashes - an awful lot of crashes, but we are talking about a very populated area with some major highways running through it. So where are most of the crashes occurring? Not necessarily the most serious crashes, just the highest number of crashes is US Route 20. So we're talking about again Willoughby, Mentor, and Painesville. Route 20 continues out into Ashtabula County. So that is where the highest number of crashes occurred with over 4,000 during that time.
Taking a look at what is the issue in terms of violations; speed is not surprising with over 2,900 crashes in Lake County during that time period being speed-related. So that is going too fast for the conditions, that is going too fast that you cannot stop in time, that's assured clear distance, or as most people know it “rear-enders.” But it looks like the #1 issue with over 3,800 crashes is failure to yield. Rolling through stop signs, pulling out into traffic when it is unsafe to do so, or making a left-hand turn in front of other vehicles when it's unsafe to do so. That is failure to yield.
Taking a look at when these crashes occur, the same thing I've been saying all along it's between 6:00 AM and about 7:00 or 8:00 PM. But with Lake County, the biggest time period in which crashes occur roughly about 19% of the time is between 4:00 and 6:00 PM, so it's that evening rush hour and far and away the largest number of crashes occur on Friday.
Taking a step back as I have done in all my other videos, let's talk about age-related crashes. So teen and youth-related crashes are right at about 13,000 of the 25,000 crashes in that five-year period. So very, very high number of crashes in younger drivers. Not too far behind with 11,000 crashes are elderly or mature-related drivers.
If you're interested in taking a look at the Ohio State Highway Patrol crash database just check the link below in the description you could search your county and get some pretty interesting information.

    Scott I searched this today and you almost answer the question but not quite. If at a stop sign, and the car turning left arrives at the stop first, would it need to yield the right of way to the oncoming traffic also at a stop? And if there's several cars in line coming from the opposite direction, would the left turner need to wait for them as well? Finally, if both cars are turning left, and the intersection is smaller, I assume it's simply a first come first go scenario, correct? Whatever the case in terms of the law, the driving population is not clear on this very common scenario.

    I live in Canada. If my dentist assumed that my molar was in pain from bitting hard foods, such as tortilla chips, due to a high and low point, and decided to overconfidentally use a bitemark and grinder to bring down the filling without an xray and the pain gets worse thereafter the next day, could I sue to the dentist for assuming things without first doing an xray to find the underlying cause? What bothers me about most dentists is that many of them perform surgical procedures without even first identifying the problem using an x-ray. I wonder if there is a policy or some set of rules against dentists who perform surgerical procedures without even first using an x-ray?

    June 23rd 2024 To The Malpractice Lawyers And The Civil Rights Lawyers Office Staff I ask the Malpractice attorneys and the civil rights lawyers to file a lawsuit against a dentist employed at the BRIGHT DENTAL OFFICE located at 7866 Mineral Point Road Madison, Wisconsin 53717. On June 11th I went to the Bright Dental Office to get a teeth cleaning and to get 2 front teeth crowns that need to be replaced. I told the dentist at the Bright Dental Office that I wanted to get 2 crowns replaced when he unlawfully demanded that I not do so and that he was not going to do so. In his lies and disrespect he demanded me to have the stubs removed making up lies stating that my tooth stubs were bad he was and he is a lie my tooth stubs are good and there is no legitimate reason at all to remove any of my tooth stubs that already have crown teeth on them. This very evil, wicked so-called dentist, what he did to me is a criminal offense also. This bad dude do not have any business at all in a dentist office. Violently in disrespect shaking my teeth, unlawfully trying to force me to let him grind my teeth stubs off, grinding on old crown off and making up lies saying that he do not have any new crowns teeth at all to put on and leaving me with no crown at all is a civil rights violations, a malpractice violation and a criminal offense as well. I have never been treated that bad in a dentist office before. I ask to see an Indian dentist he acted like a very crazy mad foolish demanding out of control Mexican who should not have a license to be a dentist. This very nasty rude disrespectful sonofabitch was very nasty and very hateful to me he unlawfully demanded to grind off the stub that holds my back crown in on the right side in my mouth which he did grind my old off and he unlawfully made up a lie and told me that the dentist office staff did not have new crown teeth to put on the stub that he unlawfully demanded to grind off. This so called dentist and very nasty rude disrespectful dude pushed on my mouth and teeth so very hard that caused me a lot of pain he ruined my old crown teeth and he unlawfully made up a lie and he demanded to grind on several of my teeth when he made up a lie and said he had to grind on my teeth which was and is a lie. This very mad evil man dude pushed on my teeth and mouth so very hard he tried to damage my teeth and my mouth. This nasty rotten bad dude was and is brown and is a brown skin person. He was and is a Mexican or an Indian. I have never seen an Indian act that bad. He is probably Mexican. I have veterans dental insurance and veterans medical care insurance. I do not want the Veterans Administration to pay for this malpractice. I have not been able to get any dentist in 20 years or more. Now I need a good ligiminant dentist. I don't have the crown teeth on the stub that the mad man ruined. I have never seen such a very nasty, rude, rotten, disrespectful, trouble-making, no good and lying sonofabitch calling himself a dentist who unlawfully refused to indenificify himself. The Minority secretary at the front desk also unlawfully refused to tell me the name of that dude. I want the attorneys to file a lawsuit on my behalf against the BRIGHT DENTAL OFFICE dentist who committed a bad malpractice. That big fat nasty mad angry dude was very unprofessional, very ruff, very rotten. He was shaking and pulling on my teeth with his fingers trying to pull my teeth out with his fingers. He told me has been doing this for 10 years and that he knows what he is doing. What he did to me is a civil offense, a criminal offense and a malpractice violation. He acted like a very mad rotten Mexican who unlawfully demanded to harm and to violate. His minority front desk telephone answer stood up for him and would not tell me his name. She laughed about the abuse violation and harm he did to me. It was not funny to me. I want a malpractice lawsuit filed against that evil wicked mad man soon. My Veterans Administration Dental Insurance should not pay Bright Dental so called dentists for harm, malpractice, violation and excessive abuse. The Federal Government Veterans Administration should not be subjected to paying Federal Government Money for harn, abuse violations and excessive malpractice and my Veterans Administration Dental Insurance is not to pay any money at all for the malpractice that happens in this matter. Veterans should be able to go to Dentist offices and get good dental care and respect in all colors and ethnic groups but this has not been the case even the dentists who are employed in the Veteran Administration favor and disfavor by race, color, religious and political outlooks and will only pulled good teeth on African American Veterans who are not valued at all or who have very little value. The Veterans lawyers groups organization if any need to file a lawsuit in this matter and case as well. I want the lawyers to file a claim for monetary compensation in this matter and case soon. This is a case where I need to be paid several hundred thousand dollars in this case and this case needs to be referred to the appropriate staff for criminal prosecution. If there are cameras in that so-called dentist office the camera footage needs to be pulled soon. The Veterans Administration staff are paid very well who for the most part do not give a damn about veterans dental care and medical care they also just want to pull teeths that do not need to be pulled especially with African American Veterans and they do not want to provide any money to be paid to dentist outside the Veterans Administration. Mainly white ladies who never served in the military decide who gets dental and who does not get dental care and they have decided that African American Veterans get their teeth pulled and that is it no cleanings no dentures to replace the pulled teeth for veterans who are so stupid to get teeth pulled that do not need to be pulled. White ladies and bare gum African American veterans is what is taking place. That needs to change soon. Threats of calling the Veterans Administration police on African American Veterans from white female dentist employed in the Veterans Administration should not be happening but it has taken place. The Veterans Administration police do not have the legal rights or the legal authority to unlawfully force African American Veterans nor any Veterans to get their teeth pulled. The president, the senate and congress need to make sure all Veterans get good dental care without white ladies so called dentists making threats to call the veterans administration police to try to unlawfully force African American Veterans to get their teeth pulled is a race hate crime and a form of unlawfully terrorism that is very bad. Michael Young Post Office Box 1394 Fond du Lac, Wisconsin 54936-1394 Telephone Number area code 920-238-9011 the best time to call is at 8 am to 9 Am in the Morning Wisconsin Clock Watch Time

    Hi, i had a tooth extraction on 1-22-2024. Its been a nightmare ever since. My root was in my sinus cavity. Dentist never did an x-ray to see the anatomy of my roots and sinus. I could feel immense pressure on my sinus as he was rocking it back and forth to loosen it up. I had to stop and yell , "My sinus, my sinus!" Dentist stopped and looked frozen for a minute. He was then a bit more gentle with the extraction. He put stitches in and they dissolved within a couple days. Long story short, he never explained to me what happened, only said to not suck thru a straw because it would come out my nose. I went back in the following day because the massive air flow and pain was debilitating. Thats when he said i had a sinus perforation. He shrugged off and said it would close and heal within a couple weeks. That never happened. I went to a second dentist who said it was the largest perforation hed ever seen...and there were two of them, not one. There is also a piece of root left in there i was never informed about. Im still dealing with this open hole in my mouth to my sinus and its almost 3 1/2 months later. Im at a loss of what to do. Its been physically and emotionally taxing.

    Most dental claims for bone or tooth fragments are not worth the time and money. Most fragments will naturally pass and the dentist can take care of the problem if necessary without litigation.

    I'm in New Mexico. The other day, I went to go see a new dentist to see about repairing a cavity and two upper teeth. He said that 2 come back in 2 weeks to get my cavity repaired. I went back 2 weeks later, but the front desk lost my medical history packet that I had JUST filled out the first day I came 2 weeks ago. Then I went back to see a different doctor than the one who examined me for my first time there. He started applying the Lidocaine or Novocaine anesthetic, for my cavity. But instead of waiting for a few minutes for the anesthetic to take affect, HE JUST STARTS DRILLING RIGHT THEN AND THERE! Since it was a deep cavity, it went to the nerve. But since he told me that he couldn't get the nerve to properly numb up, and I couldn't properly relax, since this was a new dentist to me and he didn't wait for the Novocaine to properly take effect, he just gave me a temporary filling and told me that that tooth, along with the other two on my upper row, needed to be extracted. Then he referred me to a different dentist location in a different town because I was told by a nurse that helped with my filling that if I tried to get extractions in my current town, it would be out of pocket, but somehow my insurance covers the extractions in a different town for some reason. And just 5-6 weeks later, my temporary filling JUST POPPED OUT. Now my nerve's been exposed, I'm in enough pain to make me cry if I accidentally hit my nerve the wrong way because my pain tolerance is so low, and it's a few weeks before I can get the dentist that I was referred to for extractions to examine me and see what should be done. Does that mean I might have nerve damage? I'm genuinely unsure about the amount of damage. And I'm worried about it potentially developing into an abscessed tooth, which could be life threatening. Because my old dentist in my hometown was MUCH more professional and understanding, at least to not lose my medical history paperwork after the first visit. Does this count as a case of Dental Malpractice?

    I need help i went to a local dentist to have implants put in. I had went to several other dentist first and had the basic idea of what was going to happen i knee what i wanted so when i found somebody local i was excited to get this done. He charged me 22k for the process. The first day he pulled all my teeth i didnt have a lot but charged me to pull more than i had. His handling of my mouth wad very poor. After he had my teeth out he put in these temporary teeth when he did he was jambing these things in my mouth and it hurt so bad. I didnt take anything for the pain i dont take pills at all so i took the pain but when he put that temporary set in i really felt it. The temporary teeth was so hard to get in cause he had them made wrong the teeth pointed to the left they were not set right from the start the center line pointed left big time and it was very noticeable. I asked him how long did i have to ware them crooked teeth over and over i finally got mad cause it embarrassing to smile and my teeth be crooked he was upset about it but went ahead and made me what i thought was temporary teeth later i find out that these where my permanent teeth that didnt make sence cause i was paying for implants not dentures he told me that he has always done teeth like this i need to back up a little when he was putting in the studs i cant tell what he was doing i was told by every dentist i went to that there should be a minimum of 3 studs on top and bottom all of these dentist said they always put 4 on top and 4 on bottom. I couldnt tell the day he did all of this what he was actually doing i was focusing on not letting the pain get to me. He only put 2 on top and 2 studs on bottom To make a long story short and leave out alot if details he has not given me implants im still without teeth and he has his money i have had one stud fall out because it was crooked and the other stud on the bottom broke into to pieces because i can not ware my bottom teeth with the top dentures in the top i still have to glue in everyday sometimes 2 and 3 times a day they dont fit right and are constantly fallibg out it very embarrassing to say tge least the last time i saw this dr was 4 months ago and he gives me a card telling me what to say to this other dentist and that he couldht do anything else for me I paid this man alot of money that took me a very long time to save up i wont ever get that money back i have to many other obligations i had one chance to get this done abd this guy robbed me of that. California Digital XRAYS can be used to criminally substitute a good tooth as needing extraction by taking photo after fraudulent drilling and pretending the new gap is decay. The dentist doubles profit when he extracts the correct tooth later. I have seen patients crying after being gouged on limited income for thousand $$ on WRONG TOOTH. Make them pay punitive damages $$$$.

    A doctor just refunded me the full amount for a crown that wasn’t the tooth giving me the pressure sensitivity sensations. Without explaining why I was being refunded. They did this after realizing the extreme sensations were on the tooth NEXT to the tooth he filed down and put the crown on. So I think I’m in the beginning stages of them trying to hide their mistake.

    Good afternoon sir. I came to this country in 1987 because of the American dream. I was living in New York, and back then We decided to move to New Jersey and bought a house in Matawan New Jersey in 1992. Both my mom's and my name is on the mortgage. When we moved to New Jersey in 1992 I was the one paying the mortgage all along because my Mom was not able to pay because she was a Home health aid worker making minimum wages even though she tried, and she was not in the very best of health all those years because she was not in the very best of health my Mom developed kidney disease, sometimes in the late 80s because she had very high and blood pressure, and in the late 90s it got worse, and then she went on dialysis for over 20 years sadly she passed away last year in August. Because her name is on the title along with mine Medicaid put a lien on the house for $300,000 and all my life's work and savings are gone for 31 years I paid the mortgage by myself and now I lost most of my life savings in this house My only child was born in 1992. 2 months after we moved here, and this is the only home she knows, her grandma raised her from birth She went to college got her degree and paid off the house last year and she was, She buried her grandma buy her headstone and my daughter spent thousands of dollars paying off the house and burying her grandma both she and I are disinherited she got nothing. Now she is out of her mind, and she moved out and was in the hospital she does not speak to me anymore I only found out that she was In the hospital when she came out she did not take my calls or answer my texts I have diabetes and high blood pressure, and the stress is hurting me I cannot sleep sometimes. They violated my property rights they should charged us what we could afford and would pay it over the years My mom did get public assistance we are not denying that, but we believe that they should be more flexible with us They just will not listen to us so both my daughter, and we are denied our human rights thats what I believe, but as I am not a lawyer I cannot say too much because I don't know the laws if I sell this house I would walk away with less than half and at 65 years old I lost my life savings in this house my retirement money has been gone for 31 years I rebuilt this house, and now it needs a lot of work that I cannot afford I really would like your advice and how to go forward, I don't know how long I am going to live through this situation please I need help advice if I have rights or not

    I’m dealing with my own potential case of malpractice, my jaw was broken and I had to have a plate and five screws after having some teeth pulled by an oral surgeon. I told him I had Tourette’s and even took multiple trips to the ER after my surgery. I’m going to have to have either braces or more surgery to correct my bite. I have problems chewing and I’m scared that I will hear that i have no case. My X-rays look like I was in a bad accident. I’ve turned my the proper paperwork into my attorney but as a Christian I’m supposed to forgive, but my gut instinct tells me I’m right to do what I am doing. Am I wrong and if I am then please help me understand.

      It is not the type of case I would take on if it arose in Ohio. Its not uncommon for people to require root canals following that type of work; particularly if the cavity was closer to the pulp.

      Given the requirement of experts, the types of cases I consider typically require hospitalization or surgical repair.

      @Scott Kuboff thanks. I think leftover cement falls within normal realm of complications that can happen with crown/bridge work. And can be easily removed later on. A very minor complication and I would not consider that "malpractice". It's not like a broken jaw from an extraction. Or dropping an endo file down patient's throat by not using rubber dam.

    I am having a problem with affordable dentures in Jackson TN.. They have made a horrible denture crooked denture and really thin spot in the front that I had complained to them that they could break in that area ,and said they would make a new denture but meanwhile they worked with me on the one I have , they got to the point of putting in a soft liner and I called back later for them to do the rest. But should have made a new denture at this point! Now when I call I am routed to existing patient.. They obviously want to talk only to new customers and do not answer the calls for the existing patients ..We have to leave a message. When I called for another appointment after getting that nasty tasting soft liner put in they now just ignore me. I have called three times and left messages for another appointment but now I no response at all from them! Also I want to note that this office insists on payment before doing any work at all!

    I had a wisdom tooth removed back in 2020 and have been suffering from facial pain ever since, I've complained to my dentist who extracted the wisdom tooth so he tooth a x ray and said there was nothing wrong. I ended up coming back again and got referred to a oral specialist witch witch us all time consuming.. the specialist could see how horrible I looked at the time and basically said he doesn't have the technology and it sounds like I might have tmj and recommend doing jaw exercises, as time went on the pain got worse and so I eventually saw a surgeon again and got a mri scan and it came back saying nothing is wrong.. so i started getting physiotherapy on my jaw for awhile witch is all money and time consuming, time went on and pain has become worse even more and I can feel a lump so I have been going to different dentists to see what they think the problem is and they all say they can't see anything in the scans its out of their league go see a doctor, the doctor said I could have muscle damage and starts feeding me pain killers.. I just don't get why he would say that when the scans ain't showing anything "apparently"... there is clearly a lump growing.. been the worst 3 years of my life and I'm totally thinking about talking to a lawyer about where I stand with this issue because i totally feel like ive been over looked.. something isnt adding up... why can't they diagnose the issue? Is our technology that bad or are they trying to kill me? It's gotta be a cyst its just gotta be... I'm worried that is spreading or turned cancerous. There's bits and pieces I've left out but I've got alot of paper work to prove all this.

    • @scottkuboff
      @scottkuboff ปีที่แล้ว

      I am sorry to hear you still do not have an answer after 3 years. Where I practice (Ohio), the plaintiff must show what the doctor did wrong to cause a specific injury. Without a definitive diagnosis of whats going on, that would be a challenge for me. Reach out to a lawyer in your state for guidance on time limitations and your rights and, of course, follow up with your dentist for further eval and recommendations.

    Thank you for posting this information. I just had two dental assistants cement all the teeth in my upper mouth. I have already contacted the dental board. All the information online says that its almost impossible to sue a dentist and win. If the dental board can prove what they did to me maybe I will try to sue. I think we are turning into a third world country.

    • @scottkuboff
      @scottkuboff ปีที่แล้ว

      Kristi, do not wait for the dental board to take action before you decide what to do; keep in mind, the statute of limitations continues to run while the dental board reviews your complaint. Contact an attorney in your state to discuss the facts of your case and learn your options before its too late.

    I don't have dental insurance. My daughter needs her wisdom teeth removed. The oral surgeons office needed a referral from a general dentist. The general dentist insisted that he could perform the oral surgery without complications. I will insist that he carry malpractice insurance. Two weeks before the surgery, the office staff calls me and states that they will will need a 50% down payment and 50% on the day of surgery. Am I missing something? Does not having insurance playing a factor in my daughter's dental case?

    • @scottkuboff

      If you do not have insurance to cover the procedure, it is not unreasonable for the providers to request payment day of procedure.

      @@trevonstewart608 I feel your pain, mine was a back molar so, it was really hard to get to. And I did lose that job and had to completely drain my savings and even had to borrow some money. I probably could have kept the job but I was sort of embarrassed I guess because nobody seemed to understand why I needed a month off for a tooth extraction but let me tell you that it was one of the worst things I've been through. Thank you Scott for making this video. There is very little information offered regarding dental malpractice or how to contact the dental board and what are the exact issues they handle. Thank you for speaking clearly and slowly. I hope more attorneys begin to use media to let dental malpractice victims know that there are attorneys who handle dental issues. Many people who have dental malpractice issues do not even know they can make reports to a board or speak with an attorney. Please attorneys if you are reading this.....put your name out there. This area of health has more cases than one may think. I read how a punctured sinus or infection from a root canal is rare. It's not as rare as they think! It's just rarely being pursued bc victims have nowhere to turn. It's a major problem in my opinion. Even primary care doctors particularly young ones are not prepared to deal with the problem of endodontic mistakes or infections. Patients often will not get the proper referrals without major delays, suffering and complaints. The nightmare becomes the sick patients to figure out how to navigate the broken health care system. Which is separate from dental care. They should be one bc your mouth is the key to your overall health. People can become extremely sick and never be the same all bc failure to admit mistakes, apologize, and make appropriate referrals and plan of care in a timely manner and follow-up with patients until the very end. If they will not do that then they should not do risky procedures. And many dentists do not do them. But many greedy dentist do. Often without experience and often on Medicare and Medicaid patients. Individuals they feel who would not know where to turn to if the dentist did screw up. I am 100% against root canals. I also believe the laws should make sure the patient has full disclosure on every instance of every risk involved before they allow any dentist to perform these treatments in people's heads. It was also nice you gave individuals your phone number and email. Too bad you are in Ohio. I need an attorney who can practice in MA.
