I admit I wasn’t aware how many Allied military vehicles are saved and put on display in Europe. I thought that by now the main places other than a few museums would be American Legion post where some are still displayed. Though it looks like even those are slowly being replaced by later year’s equipment

All people of today calling their generation the greatest generation. But you would, todays generations, rather cry for mama than go to a war. WW1, the absolute meat grinder of a war , was not long ago (17 years) and then they all had to go to a war again. America did not want to go to war again but was forced by the Japanese who attacked Pearl Harbor. Safe times bring weak generations, and tough ones bring tough generations. But many people of the so called greatest generation were terrified in the battles with a lot of dead soldiers around them.

На острове много было брошенных японских танков, самолётов с эмблемой камикадзе. Там был водный аэродром на озере битобе. Действующий аэродром в пос. Байково. В 1945г 2 сентября был подписан акт о безоговорочной капитуляции японской квантунской армии во втором курильском проливе. Мой отец тоже воевал с японцами. И мы каждый год отмечали конец войны 2 сентября. Отец прослужил 7лет и 8 месяцем. Немного не дожил до 80 лет.
