The song is 'Take A Little Time' from the 'Wild Frontier's album. The keyboardist and gutarist is Neil Carter and I think the bassist is Bob Paisley. Not sure who the drummer is.
Just came across this great video via a magazine article! I can not remember the program at all, Gary was one of the great players of his time, and all time! Versed in many styles of music and excellent at all of them, very much missed.
Great stuff. Was lucky enough to see Gary play a few times in the eighties. Awesome player. Kirk Hammett has had the audacity to carve his initials into 'Greeny'. Twat.
One of my best influences love him.
8:57 Good ol Zorg..! xD Damn, I love The Fifth Element - watched it so many times at my local Odeon, that I've got the script memorised! Thanks for sharing this wonderful time capsule, it's cool to see the installation of all the screens, seating and 35mm equipment and sound racks. Love the platter shots! :P All the best! :) - Elle
The film is so scratchy
Neil Carter....the multitask man😊
Hilarious
Did this cinema close down?😮
Yes, but it was taken over by Irish chain Omniplex earlier this year and reopened in July 2024.
Greeny on display
I like the way he said at the end "this was freds dream " it wasn't it was his nightmare a greedy little turd taking selling & striping all of his property & belongings for his own profit. With alf his side kick that didn't even know fred for long . It showed in his made up storys people paid to hear . Sad ! All very sad .
I went a few first dates here (terminator 2, mrs doubtfire) 😂 went to see rocky 4 with a bunch of friends from school as a kid., good child memories watching goonies, One time me and my mates in our early teens went and thought we were really cool as we got some cigs and sat at the top smoking. The seats all had little ash trays on the back , we though we were the coolest people in the world 😂😂
Oh! My beautiful hometown, what happened to you?❤ My heart is bleeding.
I can never understand his hairdo's. Who did that to his stage hair, and why ?
Loved this
WATCHED ROCKY 4 THERE....GREAT MEMORIES😂
Amazing video. Thank God for the people who help make these videos for us all to enjoy a look back at the past. I am a Bury girl. However I had many happy times visiting Bolton with my Mum.
I watched Ghostbusters & ET in here. I was also told the story of the Demon that sat on the back row, not sure which screen room it was supposed to have been.
ALL GONE wigan has no money
❤❤❤
funniest part are the little kids getting their ears blown out standing in front of Garys amps!! He always played so loud, thats suicide!!!
Amazing
Brilliant Fred was a very clever man I loved watching his programmes he was a proper man I liked your video it was a shame about the annoying music tho oh by the way alf Fred's mate is a great bloke aswell 👍
Hi Glibunit, Loved the Video. I used to live not far from Wigan, so I was often in Wigan. A very nice cinema. It's a shame she has now gone, Just one observation (not a criticism), Someone calls the automation in the Projection "Cinemation". I'ts not "Cinemation" its " Gretten Ward" automation. It was the automaton of choice for most, if not all old ABC Cinemas. Thank you for sharing. Spoolbox.
Man even his early 80s rock phase is underrated in my opinion, what a creative dude
hes turned out to be a sexual predator
hes turned out to be a sexual pest
Shows how little it changed from opening to sadly its close this year
Reopening this summer as an Omniplex. The Irish-based cinema chain have bought the cinema and have pledged to spend £3.5 million on refurbishing the cinema with electric recliner seats as standard, sofa beds in some screens, an OmniplexMAXX screen (judging by the pictures of other MAXX screens and the descriptions in the media they're like the Superscreen at Cineworld Warrington - massive screen and Dolby Atmos 3D sound - but with electric recliner seats) and increased food and drink choices.
RIP fred dibnah LEGEND ❤
watched loads of films there , a bridge too far and jaws etc , it was 5p to join the tufty club too haha , a sad end to a great place to be
now kirk own that guitar
The most inspirational British man of recent times doesn't deserve a heritage centre and his workshop preserved for the people who admire him to visit. Apparently, according to Bolton Council...???
Excellent and well narated
🤟🤟🤟
Phill Addis is this this video
I was senior projectionist there from 1973 up to the closure in 1983. When it reopened as the Ritz Film Centre, my old boss went back, (I had a different job by then), but I worked on Sunday evenings to give him some time off. It was a job I actually really enjoyed.
I watched the Herbie films, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Star Wars, Superman and most of the Bond films here. Tragic shame it ceased being a cinema.
The Compton organ was saved in 1968 and is in Christ Church Walmsley, albeit stripped of its. percussion, alas.
This building must have provided people with many happy memories since 1938. 📽🎞👍
Discusting , typical of this country no apreshation for mid- 20th century architecture
Gary had become friends with the late great EVH, (late70’s) I can only imagine the sounds they were creating!
This bloke is a clown
I was looking through old Liverpool Echo newspapers from 1989 and there was an ad for Showcase Cinemas in Liverpool which had newly opened in December that month. Those cinemas are still named Showcase 33 years later. I wonder how it has remained that name for so long when nearly every other cinema chain has changed names dozens of times over the years (Robin Park included)?. Must be one of the most successful (and know doubt lucky) cinemas in the UK.
Showcase Cinemas have never been taken over. They're owned by American conglomerate National Amusements, and they're the primary shareholders of Paramount Global (and Paramount Pictures by extension).
Was great to see his place being preserved in his honour & memory especially the mine in working order that he did'nt get to finish. Now i hear its lying derelict, absolute shame & disgrace by the new owner who did nothing to preserve this unique place for a future generation to see in a tribute to an amazing man, taken to soon
iam sure he played 2 songs ??
Its criminal whats happened to wigan town centre. Saw some great films here so many memories.
Magnificent!!!
I would love to know who sold off all his equipment and tools.
No one played with more intensity than Moore, imho.
No. Fred wanted a nice chimney stack for his gravestone. Anyone remember?
Yep and he never got it.
