Completely changed my music focus in 1979 upon hearing them. I was and still am affected.
Yeah you´re there, momma with great sound!
such amazing musician and the band was truly great
incredible trio, amazing work they did
Champ was great, he is so missed
Love this song, written by Champ during the waning months of the Contenders, slimmed to a quartet known as four desperate men. Don Dixon produced the track in early summer of 1978. Champ and I appear on twin guitars, Runkle and I warble background vocals, and Rev. JB pounds the kanaka drums. And, no, the word "volcano" does not appear.
Yes I admit 🎶 "I got a Ball&Stuart problem....i.e. *"thinking problem"......
Crazy about these guys. I was living in Austin in their heyday.
I believe the whole album is available Nov 1?
Fabulous, from lyrics to melody to chord changes to guitar soloing. No group was more creative.
Notice how he admires the waitress before he starts singing..
Smile
Yes yes yes
These guys were so well suited for Austin the seventies and eighties. The band to see in so many ways. I feel sonl lucky to have seen them at places like the Armadillo and Waterloo.
I think I was there for this. I remember being yelled at for my loud coffee cup and saucer noise.
Lucky are we to have Walter Hyatt.
My favorite
You know these guys are worse then the Beatles when it comes to that ... how can you pick one !!!
So love this! One of my all time favorites.
Hello David ,Nice presentation, well worthy of a thumbs up. = 27 Very good Music my Friend keep it going, Good luck, Regards Mick.
Wow, great surprise! New video to me!
💙🎶⛵⛱️
I loved them then and still do. My children now know the words by heart.
I fell head over heels for them when I was just out of highschool in Austin, Texas about 1977-8?
Just saw Lyle Lovett and heard him talking about Uncle Walt.
Love this music. Thanks for sharing guys. BTW, a a muso’ myself, I always love to know who’s playing what… David Ball - voc & gtr (?) Hood - fiddle (?) - voc & gtr (?) - bull fiddle (?) - drums
Ahhhhhhh, that was SO good! David's voice just the same as I remember in UWB. So much fun, maybe they can do it again somewhere.
Absolutely love this song
Thank you greetings from Hiroshima, Japan!
Thanks for sharing! This was a real treat!
this is awesome Rick! You sound great! and I love her voice!
Favorite band of all time
I was eleven when Walter perished in a plane crash.
Jesus I miss these guys.
well that was beutiful!
I've always loved this song but this is too cool. Awesome. UWB on fire here
One of their best...
like honey from the comb...
Remember Larry from the Gentrys great guitar and vocal musician. A lot of talent came out of Memphis Tn back in those days.
Beautiful version! Wow! Nice recording, also. Any more gems? Thanks.
I love this! Keep em coming!
Great stuff
Well. So good to hear another heartfelt tribute to Uncle Walt's Band. I went to see them every chance I got when they (and I) were situated in Nashville. That was a long time ago, but my admiration of what they were able to accomplish has never waned. For some reason they came back to mind a few months ago, and wouldn't you know, I find myself proselytizing their music all over again, like some televangelist. Right now I am wondering whether I'll ever get my CD copy of "Blame it on the BossaNova" back from the neighbor down the street. It's an emotional topic for me, all tied into the college years and my own small attempts at making music. These three fellows did something very special. It may not have greatly enriched them, but it sure enriched me.
Great to hear this different later version
Lovin’ UWB! Just discovered these guys. And I’m having a ball getting into them. Love stuff like this. I’ve got their first two albums, and another two (Live & Anthology) on order. Such great music. And things like this, with material not to be heard elsewhere? Fabulous. Walt, Champ, David, love you forever.
St.Louis company that I had audited a few years before caused the plane crash in Florida.
Great
that guitar sounds like a nickelodeon..change the strings or the pickup or something..lol
I was in and around Dallas and stumbled across Willis Alan for the first time those early '70s in Austin, He did this song and I thought, Wow, his 2nd Album can't be far off-!!
I miss these guys so much! Their arrangements, musicality and gorgeous harmonies influenced my own music career. Such joy listening to them live for so many years.
Grateful for this. Such magic.
