that Louie got 5 seasons of that TV show, even AFTER his first series flopped, says it all. do what you love.
any comedian who posts content that the algorithm likes, whose content falls in line with whatever's popular, is NOT a comedian that i would enjoy. if you are the kind of comedian who only does jokes about what's popular, and you DON'T use profanity, and you try to keep your content PG at worst, then Social Media might get you noticed.
5:38 hope it doesn’t happen to shane gillis. he’s already barely on his podcast anymore and when he is he clearly can’t wait to hit an hour so he can stop it. like that’s your fanbase dude, what are you doing
The algorithm is the new gate keeper 😊
Love this man's mind and his unwavering common sense.
Soy tu fan 😍
Bro easily explained how i been feeling for years
Louis is such a nerd. I love it
He has no clue what he is talking about in this case, though he is usually right about everything else.
...ja i always thought Louis should have study philosophy instead : he is a "lost" thinker!
Ojalá si le lleguen sus saludos al Rorro de centro histórico
Yellow itu bambang
But isn’t the algorithm the way to reach people?
Long story short. If you’re in it for the money, chase the trends. If you’re in it for the artistry, start at the bottom and work your way up the way you want to. Most comics today did it for the money and fame. Most comics from the 90’s did it for the art itself. The 90’s were a rough time for comedy. The 80’s had a comedic boom and it over saturated the industry. The comics who started in the 90’s like Bobby Lee, Joey Diaz, joe Rogan, Louie Ck , Norm Macdonald , etc, those are the ones that have long long careers that will one day support their grandchildren. When you build it from the very bottom, and STICK to your material no matter what, you build a cult fan base, and they will always be with you no matter what. Trends come and go, die hard fans stay forever.
Exactly, Louis still hits the nail on the haed all the time.
Louis CK is definitely my number one favorite comedian.I listen to comedy all day in my headphones while I work.I have been doing that for at least 7 years. And I most certainly like Louis ck #1
The algorithm is the new "powers that be". It's not about servicing it; it's about manipulating it to get your shot.
WORD
Same shit can be said about music. Fuck the All-god-rhythm
I once got a job to make art for a company. It was all going a head and the pay was gonna be good, then they asked how must followers I have on instagram. I was surprised they asked. It wasn't enough and I didn't get the job. I was flabbergasted.
Clips like this make me realize that Louis CK is really the closest thing we have as an heir apparent to George Carlin
Half agree half disagree. I agree, quality content always stands out, and censoring cuss words is cringey and pathetic, but the algorithm is just a design. And it works on a lot of platforms. I watch funny stuff, and i get served more funny stuff. Hence why we're all here, on this random video.
That's it! Listen up. The visceral truth
Freaking love Louie
stop staying yeah
Great Sit-Down special with the Louis C. K.!
it's funny because I'm watching this cause of the algorithm
I’m going to step back and not glaze Louie like everybody else is…name a newer comic that is highly successful that doesn’t post on social media? You absolutely have to post on SM to get any popularity
Posting what you want on SM is a different thing than posting what you think will get you the optimal views.
@@niteowl789 way to say something without saying anything. Louie got grandfathered in. Not posting on SM doesn’t hurt him like it would hurt a newer comic
@@IRLtrolls I'm not disagreeing that new comics have to play the game of SM, just agreeing with Louie that that's what's hurting comedy. Everybody trying to "get seen" posting the same predictable stuff that'll get them on the algorithm. It's why we have the Joe Rogan crowd and why someone as unfunny as Bert Kriesher or Brendan Shaub or Shultz can fill an arena. Because they get all these views, so they MUST be good.
in short, be yourself
Man you can't bait and switch fuck that guy
Is that the same dog? Same dog as what?
The box is the gatekeeper now. Basically a server farm is Mitzi.
The ending. 😂
His face in the last frame 😅
This can also be applied to the fine arts. As a painter I feel the same way.
real shit
de que hizo pop, hizo pop
The algorithm tbh is pretty fucking good. I get the stuff I like recommended. Certainly better than Hollywood gatekeepers.
The last joke was so dry and honest that Louis was genuinely happy. XD
People that are good enough... art, music, film, etc etc they don't need a lot of advertising. Some, sure. You have to put yourself out there. And show your work. But people come to you when you're that good. It's the hacks and the nobodies who incessantly advertise themselves. And some of those people succeed. Look at the Paul brothers. They sold a product of no value and stupid people buy it. Look at the Strokes in the early 2000's... they did very minimal advertising and some touring and blew up. They had a good product that didn't need much advertising. They did have to play shows and perfect their set. There's a fine line between putting your art out there, and pushing your art onto people who don't give a fuck.
Is he the one who scolded a SNL cast member for smoking weed but he has masturb***ng in front of women?
He's right, you dont have to. If you've got the talent, there'll be no stopping it.
Content these days are like pop up ads. I downvote and report most of them. It's so annoying
I didn't have a smartphone ever until like a month or two ago. I don't even use it. I don't even take it with me. If my car breaks down I fucking walk. Its something you should use to shave off some stress for an hour at the end of the day, at the most...like taking a shit... Its not great, If your thinking about social media you already fucked up.
Smartphones and social media are very different things....
The algorithm reacts to the response by a human correct? ie: If you make something that people spend more screen time on, you are still designing for humans by proxy right?
This is why podcasts make millions and tiktoks make pennies
The more you allow social media numbers drive your creations, the more you become merely a reflection of the interests of the social media corporation. Wanna become boring and irrelevant quickly? Chase that algorithm to the max. You’ll be gone like a fart in the wind.
"WHAT ARE YOU?!?! 'KING OF THE ALGORITHM' '? - What a brilliant insight by Louie? Great young comedic minds are being ruined right now by chasing fulfillment through winning the social media game. That's fine if a comedian looks at comedy as a career. But for non-careerist comedians who do it for the true art of being as funny as possible to what THEY consider funny? THAT is art. Norm Macdonald, Chapelle, Louis, Bill Burr, etc. You can tell all those guys do it for the art more than the pay.
"IT'S THE SAME ROAD"
4:54 tell us you didnt listen to what Louis was saying for 5 min, without actually telling us.
