I'm a 39 yr old man now. As a young boy, I did not appreciate scope or long lasting impact Batoto Yetu would have on me until much later in my life. Seeing the basement of Saint Mary's church where we use to practice and that U.N. performance in this video brought back so many memories. Good times. Julio Leitao is a great man.

I know I'm soooo late seeing this, but this is too cool. I wish these masks were available to use when I was in the troupe! The original puppets were an experience, lol. Happy to see the evolution. Great job!!!!

Lembro-me em 2007 , se da memoria nao foge-me , do grande show no cine atlantico onde eu fiz parte do mesmo e sem esquecer os demais colegas de dança , foi um prazer enorme dançar para todos aqueles que gostam dos batoto yetus em geral. I remember in 2007, if the memory does not escape me, the great show in the Atlantic cinema where I was part of it and without forgetting the other dance colleagues, it was a huge pleasure to dance for all those who like batoto yetus in general . His teachings went far beyond the contents of the curriculum. We had important learning for life. Your mission goes far beyond the mission of a teacher, you are a true teacher. Wow!!!!! I danced with Batoto Yetu from the age of 14 to 18 that was about 9 years ago. I can honestly say it was the best years of my life I learned so much and it has opened many doors for me. I would love to be apart of the company again. Thank you Julio for the experience and if you are ever in CT please let me know!!!!! God bless.

Vi a apresentação do Julio Leitão e seu grupo em 1998 em Belo Horizonte, quando convidado pelo Grupo Corpo, ministrou oficinas e fez uma montagem com crianças do Acaba Mundo, aglomerado na região sul de BH. Simplesmente lindo e tocante o trabalho dele com as crianças!
