True that! But the area near Lulea might be an option with it's dynamics of frost/thawing. salt/sea ice etc... Very interesting and comprehensive area. We'll see I am not going if there is no prospect of skateable ice. There is a good webcam to the Fjardhusfjorden near Pitea.

Sure, the problem is that it will be with very short notice since you never know about ice..

This is halfway between Kaalasjarvi and Paatisjarvi to the west, ending at Nikoluokta.... can't remember these Lappish names and have to look them up each time. I think where this shot was taken belongs to the latter. The other 'blue' lakes are from small lakes on the way from Kiruna to Narvik. The 'Lappland sky is the limit' one is from the lake Njuotjamjaur which can only be reached walking across train rails.
