Some of the in-laws of my family came to the US to escape there horrors. Sadly, others died in refugee camps during the final tragedies of 1922. And yet, instead of giving tribute to the memory of this great film director for telling this story, so many here would rather debate about whether or not he should have named some communists in Hollywood. America, whatever you believe about the commies, do not miss this much more important story!

The genocides of the early twentieth century that were inflicted upon Greeks and Armenians by the Turks were the outrages that gave Hitler and the Germans the idea that they could also commit mass genocide and get away with it. Kazan told the story. Sadly, the world still does not want to hear of the dangers of the Turks, Many debate now about whether Kazan did right in naming certain communists that he had met in America. How bizarre it is, the trials of a few from Hollywood gets much comment now, while the genocide of millions is swept under the rug.

This story its the story of ancient greeks in motherland of Minor Asia..2000years rule the world and after 1000years became slaves...the greek christian heritage of this motherland we don t forget

What made this film so good?

Turks forced all Greeks and Armenians to be Muslim. Greeks and Armenians did not accept it. And this is how the genocide started.

As an Armenian that came to this country and having the same history of my great great grandparents being burnt in a church like shown in thos film, it resonates with me very deep.

This movie was really quite good. The only Hollywood movie of the classic period about Ottoman Empire and damn it represented it very truthfully. The movie is long, but keeps one always in suspense. Very good the main Greek youth protagonist made it all the way to get into the US despite all the obstacles.

After watching a lot of movies from the Classic Period of Hollywood 1930s-1960s it seems to me this was really a high point of Hollywood movies. Though, there were many average and boring movies at those time and many wonderful movies from 1970s up until now, still that period is just like classical music. They will never grow old and forgotten.

في مصر وفي أهم موارد الثقافة تعرفت علي السيد إيليا كازان ....عرف منذ الثلاثون عاما أنه غير معروف الأصل تركي أم يوناني ..وأعرف أنه يملك من حطام الدنيا شقة واحدة بلندن .يوم أن كان شوارزنيجر يملك بيفرلي هيلز كلها .وشاهدت عشرات الدراما من نوع هذا الفلم لكن هذا الفلم لوح توراتي لهذه النوعية لا اوراق انبياء .....هذا ال جاكيلاكيس ليس شهيدا ولا منتصرا ولا مهزوما هو كما يقال في هذه النوعية آيديال .هل نعرف له سببا للتمرد .هل تمرد ؟؟؟ هل تسجيل محضرا للعامة سببا لعودة المنقولات للبيت هل أهل البيت أصلا لديهم ما يثبت انهم يملكونها .دا غير الفضيحة الكوكبية اللي سببها للراجل الي خلاه محترم . إذن هو فعلا أتي بأهله واحدا تلو الاخر أو قل هزم أبيه ولم يهزم نفسه

أكيد أن ظلال التعسف التركي مع الارمن واضحة خلال الفلم لكن ما هو ايضا للروس ظلال للقهر لا ضد إثن معين ولكن ضد حدود معينة الم يجبروا المسلمين علي شرب الخمر حتي انهم وهم يحتفلون نهارا بزواج ابنائهم ((في رمضان يحتسون الخمر ...) أو انهم ينادون ابنائهم بإيتش فلا تعرف حارث من عزت اليست هذه إبادة جيو انسانية لا تتعلق بسبب مادي غير القوة والقهر الغير مستندين علي سبب معين
