This video was exactly what I was looking for in my research. I love how you showed the actual view of leaving the train station and seeing the grand canal. I have no experience in Venice and this is what I needed to visualize my steps.
Amazing- thank you for this info
❤
❤
For "C" what do the 4.1 and 5.1 mean?
Hi, thank you for your comment. 4.1 and 5.1 are two vaporetto lines, just like line 1 or 2.
Thank you for your time making these informative posts. Can you share info about public restrooms in Venice, Italy.
Hello, thank you for your comment. Check out the interactive restroom map here: wctoilettevenezia.com/mappa-bagni/?lang=en Just make sure to have some change on you, as they often only accept coins!
This vdo very help me😊
Your video was great, it helped us a great deal, but be warned if you want to use the Vapor Etta, we had to wait for sometimes, the 2nd or 3rd ferry, as it was totally full to the point of a human crush. Some people were getting very distressed. It’s not a comfortable ride, but Morano was lovely and not crushed, so go there
Thank you so much !
We are going to Venice in October. Really like your series.
Wow , that was really helpful !
HI GUYS YOU ARE AMAZING BOTH OF YOU THANKS FOR YOUR DETAILED EXPLANATIONS VERY HELPFUL WARM REGARDS FROM GEORGIA
there are not discounts for children, all have one price?
As far as we know, children up to 6 years old travel for free, but 6 and older pay the regular price.
Excellent! Thank you.
Be aware of Venice public transport authority sponsored rip off. Venice is a beautiful city but it has a ugly soul Mar 2023 We got to Venice on Friday and purchased two tickets for Vaporetto in the train station. We asked the ticket office and another staff on the ground where to go and they pointed us to the line going to San Marco. None of the staff told us we need to validate our ticket. We got on the boat and a few stops 4 inspectors got on the boat and they came directly to us and another couple with suite cases. The boat was full of people but they targeted passengers with suite case. One inspector asked for our ticket and after checking it told us it is not valid and we need to pay 59 Euros fine each. Another 3 inspectors surrounded us and it was a pretty intimating situation. He asked for cash first and then said we can pay with credit card. I told him what if I have no credit card and he said we will take you off the board and we will call the authorities until you pay. This was clearly a government sponsored scam and they make money from it. Do not be afraid of pickpockets or scammers in Italy because the Venician government finds a way to rip you off legally. The inspectors can clearly check the time and date of your ticket. Based on when you bough your ticket they can give a warning, they can validate your ticket immediately of asked you get off the boat and validate it. It was a horrible experience and we regret spending two weeks in Italy and spending our hard earned money in this corrupt country.
We're sorry this was your experience, with our videos we try and help future visitors to avoid negative experiences that might ruin their holidays and memories of Venice.
Hello. Thank you for the video, very informative. I will be going to Venice from Florence by train then fly to France in September. I will be staying at hotel near to Santa Lucia train station. What is the best way for me to go to Marco Polo airport from train station. Thank you.
Hello, thank you for your comment. Check out our video "Arriving in Venice", where you'll find information about traveling to and from the airport. In your case, it's probably best to check the routes and schedules for Alilaguna, or walk to Piazzale Roma and get the Aerobus from there.
Hello, thanks for the good information. What do you think about lido beach, is it safe to use the beach?
Hello, yes absolutely! It can get very crowded, so we recommend having someone keep an eye on your belongings if one of your party wants to go swimming or buy something at the bar. There are also parts of the beach where you can rent umbrellas and sunbeds, so there are different options available!
my favorite video of Venice ever! Thank you for sharing ❤
Hello guys, love your videos, very informative. I noticed the hotel you entered, Hotel Aurora is located on the mainland in Mestre. I thought the exemption was possible only if your hotel was located on the islands themselves. Please advise if the exemption is applicable also for hotels located on the mainland. Thank you ❤
Hi, thank you for your comment. The exemption involves any accommodation in the metropolitan city of Venice, which includes Marghera, Mestre, and Favaro.
Thank you for your demo. I put in my dates in June 1 to 3 to register my exemption as I’m staying at a hotel. However it does not let me go further after entering the dates. Do you know why that is?
Hi, thank you for your comment. June 1-3 the access fee is not required, so you don't have to worry about it.
Still need the QR code even if staying at a hotel correct? Just don’t have to pay correct? But site does not recognize and no email to send to rectify
My wife and me are going to travel from Rome to Venice between June the 9th and 11th . We' ll be staying in a hotel two nights . Thank you so much for your very clear video , it was so useful for me . I made the register , for me and my wife .We already have our code numbers . It was easy to follow the different steps to fill out the form. The novelty with respect to what you say in your video is that it is not necessary to make any phone call , since it gives you the opportunity to choose between making the call or using my email , which I have done and immediately the codes have been sent to my email .We already have the codes printed and also on my mobile . We are a Spanish couple and I want to thank you again not only for this important thing but for other videos that I have seen and listened to with great attention.Thank you and my best wishes from Spain
Hello Antonio, thank you for your comment and for the update about the email, that's great to hear! Esperamos que disfruten de Venecia y ¡que sus vacaciones aquí sean inolvidables! ¡Hasta pronto!
Thank you very much! Your content is so helpful 🤗 Me and my husband are going from 30 th May to 2 June, it seems there is no fee on those days. Does that mean we don't have to register? 🤔
Hi, thank you for your comment. Exactly, you don't have to worry about the entry ticket on those days!
What a great video. Thank you
Hello! Thank you so much for this video. I have the question: is the 1 day vaporetto ticket only useful for the day that it is bought or is it a full 24 hours from the moment it is scanned?
Hello, thank you for your comment. The 24 hours start with the first scan!
Perfect! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
I'm wondering if there are public restrooms available as you are walking around.
Indeed there are, check out the interactive map here: wctoilettevenezia.com/mappa-bagni/?lang=en Just make sure to have some change on you, as they only accept coins!
Hmm, I still feel confused. I may have to watch this a few times. We're leaving for Venice in 8 days!
So helpful ☺️ I’ve been twice to Venice and never used this way to travel. I look forward now to giving it a go 😀
So going to Venice for 2 nights on weekdays weds to friday means I dont need to do anything??
Yep, that's correct!
@@NomadCitello thank you.😊
Excellent video and so helpful, visiting in July so thank you both for this!!
I will be coming on June to Venice
I just have one other question about the Train Station in Santa Lucia - there is a luggage storage option there, correct? I think it's best for us to stow our largest bags from our cruise and just take our "carry-on" bags for the couple of days we stay in Venice. Then we can retrieve them before going to the airport. Is it easy to do that?
There isn't a storage at the station itself, but if you look up "luggage storage" on the map, you'll get plenty of results close to the station.
This is super helpful! It expalins everything very thoroughly!! Thank you so much!!!
I have just applied for the Venice Exemption Pass as I am stay 4 nights. However one of the weirdest things when you put in your details is they want your Date of Birth. However you can't just type in your birth date you have to use the calender to put in the date. As I was born in 1962 you have to spend a long time pushing the back button to get back to that date. Could the authorities rectify this point.
I'm not sure, but I think you can click on the year and go back by decades? I can't remember exactly. I wouldn't hold my breath for authorities to fix that any time soon 😬
My husband and I absolutely love your videos! Last night we had baccala & polenta for the first time. Also, spaghetti of black squid and spaghetti with clams. I would never have tried any of those without your knowledge and encouragement. Thank you so much!
How to be sure that the ticket has been validated after scanning it?
Hi, the scanner has different color lights, so it will turn green when the ticket is correctly validated (and it will say so on the screen). Plus, of course, if the stop has gates, they'll only open when the ticket is validated.
Hi, do you have any recommendations for where to get Tiramisu without alcohol in Venice?
Hi, that's a tough one! I (Luna) had one at "1000 coffee" near Campo de la Maddalena, but generally I always ask in advance to be 100% sure!
@@NomadCitello Thank you! What do you say in Italian to inquire if the food has alcohol? I want to be sure that there's no alcohol in mine if I decide to buy something.
Same here (I'm allergic!); You'd say "c'è alcol qui?" where the c'è is pronounced like the "che" in "cherry" and qui like "quit" without the t. Make sure you ask about any item on the menu besides pizza: wine is often used in pasta sauces and also in meat/fish entrees.
@@NomadCitello thank you so much! I appreciate your help. <3
Thank you for a very informative video.
Hello, Me again. If I wanted to get to San Marco from Santa Lucia what is the difference in taking A or B? They both say they go to San Marco. Additionally, what do the brown circles with a white digit indicate please?
Hi there! A and B (Arancio and Blu, respectively) are Alilaguna lines that connect the airport to the city; you can take either for the route train station-San Marco, but you need to get the specific Alilaguna ticket, which is different from regular vaporetto tickets. In general, there are several different routes to choose from to go from a main landmark to another, it's just a matter of choosing which timetable/speed/itinerary you prefer. As for the brown circles, we're not sure what you're referring to: do you remember where you saw them, and what digits were in them?
@@NomadCitello Thank you for your reply. On the map of waterbus stops at 2 minutes of your video, on line B next to Rialto, there are two brown circles. One has a white figure 2 and the other has 2/. What do these signify please?
Oh, that! 2 and 2/ are just a vaporetto line. Each line has a number in a different color circle (line 1 is in a white circle, for example). Similar to subway lines in other cities.
@@NomadCitello Thank you. I shall give a big Hello to Venice for you when we get there. Keep up your excellent video guides. They are are a great help. Molte grazie. Ciao.
I’ve just booked to go to Venice for my silver wedding anniversary and this is really helpful, thank you!
Very cool video, but actually about nothing. Venice is Disneyland! I was in Venice in February this year, and I paid for: Transport from Treviso airport to Treviso Station 4 euros per person + train ticket from Treviso to Venice Santa Lucia, for accommodation in a private apartment + for 3 days of stay 54 euros of tax! + entrance tickets to St. Mark's Basilica + to see the golden altar + for touring the roof + for visiting the bell tower + for Vaporetto + for visiting the church + for touring the Doge's Palace - huge amounts - and in the evening Venice is a ghost town, nobody lives here, it gets scary. I sincerely do not recommend this place to visit. After the introduction of the tickets mentioned in the film, it will become a real Italian mess. Grrr.
We're sorry this was your experience. That's why we encourage our viewers to plan well in advance (and hopefully, our videos facilitate just that) in order to save money with advance tickets and museum passes, but also in order to be prepared for what the costs will be. As for Venice by night, we love to walk around when the city is deserted (we show that in our "Venice on foot" video) because it happens to be one of the safest places to walk, especially at night.
Thank you for the video. Well shot and clearly narrated.
Love you guys and the channel! I do have an unrelated question for you, Nick. What’s up with the overalls?
How much is the fee !?
5€ per person
Hi - great to have this information in the one place!! I'm arriving in Venice on 19 May, staying till the 24th May. So my day of arrival on the 19th is one of the test days but none of my other days. My train doesn't get to Venice till 4:15pm on the 19th so I assume because I arrive after 4pm that I don't need to register? Is that your understanding? cheers, Geoff
Hi Geoff, thank you for your comment! That's an accurate assessment, however, if you want to be 100% sure, you could go through the procedure and get an exemption voucher just in case.
How can we know whether we have arrived at our destination stop? Say, in case location marking on the phone is lagging due to bad connection
In that case, we recommend staying by the exit (in the middle of the boat) and keeping an eye on the stops: the name of the stop is written in bold black letters on yellow background, on each side of the stop. The attendant usually announces the stop, too - or you can ask them when they're getting ready to dock.
@@NomadCitello superbb thank you!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! This just took all the stress of how to get from the train station to where we want to go in Venice. This is the best, straight forward video to watch. You are my rock stars.
Very helpful indeed. Thank you for the straightforward instructions.
Very helpful. Thank you for the information
