The Murray River in Australia is the slowest flowing river on earth. This changed in November 2022 when the flood waters reached our town Mildura in the North west of Victoria, Australia.

The largest flower of the cactus family, "Selenicereus Grandiflorus" is 30 - 35cm wide. It opens just for one night, closes the next morning and wilts. It is a spectacular sight. Enjoy.

See the flower grow to an amazing 5.25m. The flowering started in mid November. By Christmas the final height of 5.25m was reached and at the first of January the first flowers opened. The flowering lasted till the end of January. The plant was 12 years old when it flowered. After flowering the plant dies. It puts all its energy into the one big event.

ETONA was in Mildura in 1997 . She was the " Runner-up " to the " Oscar " ........ But , in 1998. ( Her Centenary run to MILANG ( Where she was built in 1898 ) ... ETONA actually Flogged the OSCAR CERTAINLY . BY 4 LENGTHS . EASY . I am awaiting the Oscar to venture back to ECHUCA , to attempt to Challenge Me ( = Etona ) to regain the. "OSCAR-W CHALLENGE TROPHEY " , ( Which currently resides in my 'Steam Room ' . Ha !!!

@@MrCactusflower Jürgen! Wonderful to hear from you, this is very delightful. Marina's gone. She passed away a few years ago. The public trustee stole control of the Will, liquidated the estate and destroyed Marina's 28 years of cactus publishing, even secretly disposed of the plants in her two greenhouses without an accounting. I'm preparing to sue them, to get criminal charges. At the same time, I've been paying to recover lots of Marina's old journals from ebay and elsewhere. Long and hard job of scanning... to put her work back online. A month ago, an old contributor of hers came up with most of her PDF journals, over 70 documents including a couple of yours. So, I searched to see if you were still around and found Mr. Cactus Flower. I'm building an archive site for Marina's work, and trying to revive her project in her honour, but this time entirely digital in the form of a social club, The Cactophile Club. Just in the process of having the developer install the software now. Then it will take a lot of fixing up. It will be like a mini Facebook, but just for "cactus people". Free permanent membership to Marina's old friends and contributors. I'm hoping you'll sign up once the community software is online. How do I give you a url here... without YT deleting this message. Let me put it in a separate message, see if it sticks.

I want to see my my echinopsis bloom!!! How long do most cacti age before they bloom? I've had mine for a year now.
I have always dreamed of going to Tibet, I love the culture and traditions. As a teenager I loved to read, and my parents had several books by T Lobsang Rampa, a monk who had the most amazing life. Has anyone else heard of him, or am I the only one? The video of Tibet is wonderful, and the music fits it perfectly, greetings from Australia.
