I am a self taught drummer that has never received a single lesson outside of a friend showing me how to play a basic 4/4. I play by ear and by feel. I am mainly a guitarist that has received lessons, but I have many great inspirations on drums that have inspired me to play certain things my own way with my own approach. I find practicing techniques are important but not totally essential. Too much of that makes you sound like everyone else. It is also important to find yourself and do what you do and not what others are doing. Let others be an inspiration to give you the driving force and inspiration to create something amazing from your own unique capabilities. Find what you like to do and enjoy the most, and do it to the best of your ability with all your heart and soul.

Didn't know you were a drummer Mike. Now where's that knife ?
Lol, it's resting on the big China in the back. If you didn't see it, I show you the knife in the follow up short at the end of this short in the link th-cam.com/users/shorts43aHlY6kq18?si=gtZp7_MoHzorAZv3
Cool Mike can't wait. Your gonna start a good thing here. But do good chops ok , I mean on the drums not in the kitchen 😂 ✌
@saulhudson302 Definitely 👍
he’s killing something.
The look up before the breakdown 😂 good work! 🫡

Michael Myers is a good drummer
He never gets out of there.

The beat after approx 11 seconds switches to 11/8 - If you add one more snare beat before the splash (beat one) you'll be in 12/8 or 6/4, which should flow better in and out of the 4/4 parts you're playing before and after it. I was trying to think of songs in 11/8 and didn't come up with many, apparently the demo of Money by Pink Floyd was originally in 11/8 but they changed it to 7/8 on the album version. Peter Gabriel's Solsbury Hill is in 11/8 but sadly there's no drums 😞
Thanks for the assessment. I just do my own thing at the end of the day. I am focusing on being creative and original, vs trying to copy a song or something that's already been done. I am trying to do something that's never been done before. Anyone can play other people's stuff, try creating your own, that's the challenge.
Do you have a transcription for this beat?
Unfortunately I don't. A lot of what I do and play is all by feel and ear when it comes to the drums.
Nice!
@@lorianguillaume Thanks !!!
😘🥰♥️
What happens when you turn them that makes the pitch go up and down?
Yes it does, these were a little stiff when I first got them, but with a little grease, they work fine.

Sounds good. Download a metronome asap and make it your best friend for a few months. Huge difference. Also, there's a piece of equipment called a drop clutch that will let you release your top hihat so it will rest on bottom hat while using dbl bass. Snare sounds great. Supraphonic?
Thanks, actually the Snare is an old L600, and I have a better hi hat stand with a drop clutch that is for a new kit I will have set up over the next few months. I plan on buying a supraphonic to go with the new kit.
@@jskypercussion Ive had a Supra 5" my entire life. The 6.5" has a bit more presence and is better live. Studio, I'll keep the 5". 🙂 Be well.
Snare has to much ring to it imo
@ezramarks6081 I get it some people don't like alot of ring, it's all preference. I personally like the ring. It's a 1972 Ludwig.
😘🥰♥️
Typically I am not the biggest fan of Paiste Rides, but damn this ride is absolutely fantastic and super beautiful. Well it better be, brand new it is $650 usd.
Awesome as usual
Thanks 👍
Awesome son 😘🥰♥️
I am not a big Sonor fan, but damn this was a great drum kit. This is the AQ1 6 Piece. The Snare and the Toms sounded great. For the price this is a kit I would consider buying.
Not bad! You’re entire drum set needs tuned though that’s for sure especially the snare. Snare sounds awful
@Ghostfacethakilla96 it comes out flat sounding on the camera. It sounds better in person or if you play it through speakers. Plus it's not a high end kit. I am planning on getting a higher end kit soon.
Alot of cymbals!
😘🥰♥️
Nice groove! Your grip could use some attention. Here’s some tips if you care! Your thumb and pointer are super strong 👍🏼 but some of that effort needs to be balanced into your remaining 3 fingers. As well, you are choked up very far on your left stick. Spend some time focusing on the level of grip vs tension across your hand as you play. Most action should source from your wrist, arm and core. If your hand is tired, check yourself. Grip and posture are closely related, so also spend time checking your seated position, and that as you sit you are fully supported in your foot work. We want our posture to support all of our limbs so we can freely play. Any Sticking exercise on the snare will gain you consistency across the set 🤟🏼 add some bass notes when you feel ready. Always with a metronome! Happy Drumming 💜🥁
Excellent!!
Thanks 👍
That is an impressive rack... I am sorry but I hate the sound of that snare. Lol Personal preference and all that.
😘🥰♥️
Zildjian is to cymbals what Ferrari is to automobiles.
It's definitely a fantastic ride. It has both a good bell and crash.
Paiste all day
😘🥰♥️
They both aren’t good but I’d take the paiste over the sabian
For the money they are not bad and quite decent, but comparing them to $400-$500 crashes, there is no contest. I do have some high end crashes that I will review soon.
This is excellent!! Keep up the great work
@@cdalton5321 Thanks

Those sound badass! Well done man
@@T.Maximus Thanks 👍

I really like the snare and tuning. The toms and bass drum were ok. The Zildjian S Dark hi hat and smaller crash were great. I would consider purchasing them especially for the price.
Were these recording customs or tour customs by chance?
@@T.Maximus I think they were recording toms. They definitely could have been tuned better. I didn't have the time to mess with them. That was just a quick stop to the store. Lol
@jskypercussion got ya!
Wow can you do more? I am a self taught drummer as well i would love to watch your videos of you reviewing things or even reviewing your own items. I am in love with drums!
@Churchloverboy Yes I got plenty more videos coming of reviews, or just playing grooves and drum solos.
@@jskypercussion ok
I like the lower pich and more shimmer of the thin. The regular crash sounds nice though.
