Hi, very informative and interesting video. I'm studying fashion in Germany and I have question out of curiosity since teaching methods and stuff are varying a lot in the industry and between countries: do you have a class for pattern drafting at your school?
hi! it says for Fashion Design AAS that we're required to do a sewing project for the portfolio? im absolutely afraid as I haven't sewn anything. What do I do?
love your videos ❤
GIRL LOL I LOVE UR PILLOW
I'm 23 i can sew but I'm not good with Sketching can i still apply for fashion school? And i didn't do art courses in highschool 😢
What apps do you use to make your portfolio
what if i dont have a portfolio
Girl ur so funny😭😭😂🫶
As someone who is in thier sophmore year of high school, I don’t know how to draw at all or sew anything. What actions should I take right now for the future when I’m making my portfolio? I’m thinking of finding sewing classes and asking my school teacher to help me with drawing and painting. I have no idea😅
Hi a quick question is it needed to do exam for FIT,if yes what kind of pictures or it’s another type of exam ?does it have like no payment lessons like write the exam and be accepted for free, and can i enter there with ielts/?
There is no exam, you just submit your application and your portfolio.
@@annahudson4692 oh so its easy to enter that university
Not sure if I’m not the only one that noticed or if it was hidden for the sake of the of the camera but I love how you’re so chill about starting two weeks before 😭 like I’m freaking out about it now… but hey, congratulations for getting in!!
Yeah, I would not recommend, but hey here we are! I wish you the best of luck, I am glad the video inspired you!
im so confused about what exactly to apply for as a beginner between the MFA and BFA AAS. Also is there a specific area you apply for? Im super into haute couture and not sure where this would apply to.
So you start by applying for your AAS and then when you are done for that then you apply for you Bachelors. The first two years are just general fashion design classes then you choose a specialization for your later years. That is where you could focus on more haute couture type stuff.
has anyone ever told you , YOU ARE INSANELY TALENTED! Also ur brows r inspiring all by themselves gurl, u is on FIRE. thank you so much 4 this video....wow so cool u even did an architechture internship , absolutely amazing! one of my best friends in college majored in architecture and he mentioned that the critcism was def a thing too. thanks again i feel so much better about taking a stab at this fashion dream i have always had! Ahhhh!!!
I am so glad to hear all of this. Thank you so much! I wish you the best of luck.
hi, your work is amazing! did you prepare this for the bachelors or masters there?
This was just for undergraduate.
honestly they look so well done!
Thank you so much!
Hi Anna, your video is really helpful I will use yours as a guide as I’m applying for fashion school. I also want to ask a question about the video part. Do I have to film each style on my portfolio. I will really love to get a feedback from you🙏🏻 thank you
Hey, I am not sure if I understand your question. You don't have to film your portfolio. Just take pictures or scan everything that you make. Let me know if that answers your question.
got accepted for the fall and i’m seeing a lot about how the workload is very high. Also is trying to fit a job in while working for fashion design program impossible? lowkey feel like ima be stressed asf
I'm not gunna lie it is hard and you most likely don't have time for a job, but the first year is fine if you manage your time. There will definitely be some weeks where you are pushing to get a project done but other than that first year was chill.
damn that jonas dude is super chill
he is super cool
Wait I think one of your classmates Jonas was on that show Upcycle
I have not seen it, but I know he has a brand where he does a lot of upcycling work so it probably was him. He is very talented.

I got accepted into FIT and will be attending Fall 2024. Prior to FIT, did you have sewing skills? I have very little. Im excited and nervous
omg!!!
Can I have your Instagram plzzzz?
So amazing! You got accepted from my dream university:))))
No, I had very little sewing experience. You learn VERY fast. So don't worry.
Hey Anna is a gpa of 2.10 can still allow you to apply to fashion design on FIT with a good portfolio?
I am not sure about what they want your gpa to be, but I think a good portfolio will help.
“I mean I got in so yeah” is gonna be on my cap when I do this for myself 🥹
Yes, I love it!
Which app did you do the mood board on and how did you do the colours
It was on canva. I just added rectangle shapes and filled them with color.
i've always been hesitant because I'm amazing at sewing but drawing is where i struggle
Just put in some practice and it will come together. I am thinking about doing a video soon about drawing ,so stay posted.
@@annahudson4692 thank you so much!!! can't wait to see it!!
Hello! On my offer letter, it had some conditions I needed to meet. One of them was my Final transcript submission because I didn’t graduate high school yet. But, my problem was that on the offer letter, there weren't any specific GPA requirement I had to maintain for the rest of my grade 12 high school subjects. Do you know anything about this conditions regarding how much GPA I should maintain and would my admission be rescinded if my GPA gets lower?
I don't think that it is a huge deal. I don't know for sure but you should be fine.
so cool. i started applying to FIT but unfortunately my dad didn't support me so i have to go to a school near me. thankfully they have a fashion major but i still wish i could go to FIT. i start my first semester this year and im nervous. i wanted to do fashion business and management but at this school you must take fashion design if u wanna do fashion retailing and im not great at sewing or making clothes
As long as you are still learning the things that you are passionate about I think that you will enjoy the process no matter where you are.
Hey I enjoy watching your videos and showing a little of your life at FIT. I have a question that I’m not so sure of. Does FIT care about your GPA, im trying my best to meet a gpa of 3.0 but I’m struggling to get there and I’m thinking in just turning in the gpa I have now with my fashion portfolio, I heard a lot of ppl who applied at FIT say that anyone can applied with a gpa lower so I wanted to know if it was true?
I don't think that it is a huge deal. As long as your portfolio is good I think you have a fair chance.
@@annahudson4692 thank you!
what paint do you use on your sketchbook? so far i’ve been using markers but they shading on yours with paint looks a lot better
I used water color in the video. I now use makers, because they are much easier. Make sure you use copic markers and marker paper or else it will be very dificult for it to look nice.
hiii i have a question! What was your gpa when applying for FIT? I want to apply for fall of 2025, but my gpa recently dropped to a 3.4🥲
Starting with less than 10 days to do it 😓
Did you do finish??
Did u get accepted?
Yes
@@annahudson4692 wow. can I know what your overall high school grade was? For me, my grade 10 is B and grade 11 B+ and grade 12 is A. Do you think this would be enough?
Are the fashion schools looking for more simple desings in the flats?? because i havent seen many complicated or elaborated designs, its a rule?? Or why is it like that?
I think it just depends on what you feel like you are capable of.
@@annahudson4692 oh thank you! Never thought you'd anwser, that is sweet of you:)♡
Enjoyed your video!
So glad, thanks for watching!
I’ve heard a lot of people say that fashion school is not worth it and that you can do it in your spare time can you tell me if it’s actually worth it or not?
There are some people who do fine without going to fashion school, but that is very rare. I would say it is worth it because school forces you to learn all of the necessary skills and provides you with connections. And when you go to get a job you have proof that you are capable. It is possible to get a job without school but it is much more difficult. I think if you were to learn at home you would need to be really serious with you self and not let it get pushed to the back-burner. I hope this answers your question.
I know this might be an extremely dumb question but i just need to know what do people mean when they say they got accepted into like a certain season program like fall 2022 or spring 2023 does that mean you only get to go to that semester? Cause i thought FIT and most colleges was way longer than a semester lol i know this question is dumb but i just dont know (also my english isnt that good so sorry if there are any mess ups)
Fall 2022 means your semester will start in fall 2022 :) and spring 2023 means your semester will start in spring 2023. Btw did you apply to Fit?
thank you
Do you have to be able to draw before going to fashion school
They teach you how to draw fashion figures in school, but you should have some basic drawing skills before going.
Thank u so much for ur video, truly
You are so welcome!
The school i want to go to doesnt have any requirements on the portfolio except: 10 images, showing who you are and your progress adn a moadboard, but does that mean i dont need to make flats or patterns, because i never use patterns and i jsut sew it out of my head and it always goes well most of the time, so i will just put in my sewn garments but idk if its good enough like that
If the application does not say that you need to show flats I think you should be fine. FIT just has really specific requirements. As long as you fulfill what they ask for you should be fine. I hope this was helpful!
Hey so I’m currently in high school and wish to apply for F.I.T I’m not sure about the grading requirements but I average around a Low B, but my current report card Averages a strong B I was wondering on gpa requirement as well as deadlines I’ve done my researched but couldn’t piece it all together. If you could provide me with anything it would be extremely helpful and I know I’m really late but please
I think the application is due in January so you have time. If you have Bs you should be fine you just need to make sure that you have a strong portfolio. I hope this was helpful.
THANK YOUUUU THIS WAS SOOOO GOOOD! This video really helped me feel better on my journey to FIT (currently applying) Your vid was so helpful!
I am so glad that this was able to help you in your journey, I wish you the best of luck.
thank you so so much for this video! im from lima peru and here theres lit no one that could help me:( im applying and hope to get it! thanks again!
I am so glad that you found this helpful. Thank you for letting me know!! Best of luck
I see Timothee Chalamet in the background! ❤❤❤
we love him
can u explain what's a mix and match? why is it different than the fashion designs?
Yes, So for part of the portfolio they want to see you make a small collection that has pieces that are made to go together. Then they just want to see some other random fashion artwork that you have done. I just decided to make mine all go together. Let me know if this answers your question
@@annahudson4692it does, tysm!!
