I've heard Claire as Operator Estelle from Arknights. I loved how sweet she sounds.
I wish I could get this audiobook for my complete classic condition CDs because I only need two more than I have got them all thanks you for your help from Frank in the UK
These 1st dr Boxsets just get better and better, and whilst fugitive is the stand out I actually really like The Incherton Incident as it reminds me of Quatermass. I would listen to this story as a telesnap reconstruction or an animation. Steven grows on me more and more as the 1st dr. I recently met him at big finish day and I can’t praise him enough I actually really think he could play a new incarnation of the dr just as he is. Great stuff.
@@baldeagle3715 Great to hear that, mate! And especially great to hear a vote for Incherton, which may be my personal favourite. Yes, Fugitive is the show-piece - and it was spectacular to play with Maureen and to characterise the Robot. But in Incherton, Nicholas writes the First Doctor sublimely; and it was hugely enjoyable to have him plunged into that (as you say) Nigel Kneale-ish scenario. 👌😁
G’day! How you goin’? I think it’s high time we did another early ‘70s watch along. That late evening you spent with me in August viewing Spearhead from Space was one of the most enjoyable early afternoons I’ve had in a long time! 😁
I agree with that. It was a lot of fun. Just need to see the 7th Doctor depart our shores and then I’ll be ready for the 1st again. ❤😊
@@philipedney1931 Excellent news. Coincidentally, I was going through my vinyl collection this morning and came across 1970’s excruciating ‘Grandad’ single by Clive Dunn - which hit number 1 in the UK during transmission of Terror of the Autons! Its B-side, I discovered, is an even more excruciating song called ‘I Play the Spoons’. 🤣
When Big Finish were at the height of their powers in the early 2000s, with Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy having their semi-regular releases and Paul McGann was monthly, I couldn't have cared less if the TV series had never come back. So if we'd have never had Big Finish or the later BBC Audio Originals, I would have felt bereft of the kind of Doctor Who that I love. The post-2005 series is its own thing, and the post-2023 series even more so. The audio ranges are more in line with what I want in a Doctor Who adventure and I would be suffering loss if we hadn't experienced them.
I get the feeling that the Richard Hurndall interpretation in The Five Doctors was based exclusively on the irascible, impatient, aloof characterisation demonstrated in An Unearthly Child and the first Dalek story. He has none of the light and shade that came later. David Bradley seems to be playing 'William Hartnell playing the Doctor' as per An Adventure in Space and Time, rather than the First Doctor straight (and it seems written that way too!). As for Stephen Noonan (who I'm sure will read this at some point!), I wasn't sure at first. This is probably because I was hoping John Guilor who voiced the animated lost episodes on the Planet of Giants DVD was going to be cast and I was disappointed when he wasn't. Having heard Stephen Noonan a few times now, his performance has really grown on me. Hartnell is one of the hardest Doctors to recreate without sounding like a caricature. Stephen has captured all the subtle nuances without sounding like an impersonation.
Well, bless you Will. You’ve grown on me too! 🤣
Well said.

I wish she was asked about Rule of Rose
Given the money and constraints, Blakes 7 52 episodes are so good and fun and you just like the characters. really only Animals and a couple that drag, but 9.5/10 for the effort and rewatchability of the series. Dr who was same and the English so the best with limited resources and so many stories to watch over so many series like space 1999, UFO, The Professionals and so many more.
I enjoyed episodes 3 & 4 but found the initial premise of an Edwardian home on an alien planet, and the matrix style dream sequences, a bit unoriginal and tiresome. 🤖
Sorry you didn't enjoy it as much as we did, but we really appreciate your comment. 😃
The biggest problem is that there is no Bessie.
Undoubtedly
Lost me TDS. Lynching of Black people? Doesn't understand the DEMOCRATS were the ones who did that.
I don't know what that means
I've never understood why the first few years of Big Finish are included in 'The Wilderness Years'. I don't consider the audio version as any less than the TV version, especially as so much of Big Finish is as good or better than what's on TV. Maybe it's because I went for ten years without a TV around that time. I've always loved radio.
Stories were so good.
You guys, 'Who's Views' and 'Sense Sphere' are such a breath of fresh air in Doctor Who fandom. We need to get your viewing figures up. If I spread the word any further I'll get stretch marks!!
Thanks so much for the support!
25 years 😮 what a journey.
Not wrong!
Another great episode guys 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks Mike!
Any guesses on why Big Finish are releasing product information later and later to release date?
I don't know if that's necessarily the case. They usually only make announcements once a story has been recorded. I noticed that the new Companion Chronicles was announced and it has only JUST been recorded in the last couple of weeks. Other stuff they have had in the can for years, like the 4th Doctor adventures, so they hold off on those announcements.
Looking forward to meeting you guys! Thanks for coming to Adelaide too, happy to hear Adelaidians are turning up :)
Hey Josh! Dwayne here. It's going to be a privilege to meet you too. A MASSIVE voice in Doctor Who fandom. Loved your recent review of The Invasion animated episodes. Wonderful! And to have you with the 50% boys in Brissy. Can't wait! 😃

Do you guys buy the physical disks for the big finish audios or do you just buy the digital copies?
99% of the time it's download only these days. Postage to Australia is simply too expensive.
Toby is genial and brilliant, as usual. And he mentions David Warner in The Man With Two Brains...my favourite comedy movie. Double bonus! 😁👍
Yep he's a lovely guy.
The collage cover for the Genesis of the Daleks LP was absolutely perfect. Even though the TARDIS isn't in the transmitted version and we don't hear it on the record, we are told the Doctor "stepped from the TARDIS" and it is on the cover. So in that version, the TARDIS is there in my head. I also love the painted cover of The Music LP. The model TARDIS superimposed over the Tom Baker title sequence for the Sound Effects LP---a massive part of my childhood, that (even though I could see the title sequence police box poking out underneath!).
Great chat guys. Sean’s work is excellent 👍
Hi guys - disappointingly for me, all the dates for Janet and Sylv's tours clash with already-booked live caricaturing gigs. Bitterly disappointed I can't support the initiative of bringing these legends to Oz with my presence, but I so wish I could.
Ahh that's a shame Steve.
Australian tv played Dr. who since the 1960s. At least we got a female doctor before Disney stole it.
Excellent discussion, as always.
Glad you think so!
"When I suspect we come to US politics we probably are All on the Same Side" How So Exactly? Doctor Who used to be great for debates now its you are a this or that and must think a certain way on certain matters. Which is what's Killed it in my humble opinion, particularly with certain producers and even viewers who have made it their Soapbox.
That was David talking to Philip.
@AudioSirens Ok, it didn't seem as such which was my point. Thanks for Clearing it up!

How is a baby poo powered spaceship not classic? Seems like an extremeist hot take!🤣
Haha! I know!

Just finishing part one and had to comment… wow… this was an absolute joy. Genuine, humorous… self effacing. A real person… one of us. Wonderful.
Glad you enjoyed the chat. Let us know what you think of part 2.
I really wish there were more stories like this, exploring the mundane lives of companions after they've left the TARDIS. Another favorite of mine is London, 1965. Thank you for making this audiobook! I would never have experienced this story otherwise!
I previously listened to every First Doctor story released on audio (other than the novelizations of non-missing episodes), but I was unaware of these stories read by y'all. And I'm glad that I did, because holy hell, this is one of the best First Doctor stories, only behind The Witch Hunters and Farewell Great Macedon. First Doctor historical tragedies just hit different. The language used is so horrifically obscene that it is impossible not to feel the visceral horror felt by Ian. Thank you for this audiobook. Your narration is incredible and really helped this fantastic story. I know you have produced some more First Doctor audiobooks, and I'm excited to get to those, and I really hope that you produce more in the future!
I really love Nicola.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks
Isn't John Leeson an absolute gentleman? What a lovely chap.
He certainly is. Thanks for the comment.
Hi
Gday
Thank you, Jan, for making Cally a most impressive addition to all the strong female role models in the sci-fi universe.
She's amazing isn't she?
Malcolm Hulke gave the Whoniverse some very interestingly memorable creatures: Silurians, Sea Devils, Draconians. 👍🏻
Absolutely wonderful!
sorry the original video has not survived
It was discovered over 10 years ago. Where have you been?
@@PureHistorical1 The video of the trailer doesn’t exist. Only the audio. Somebody animated it though…
Thats a brilliant video!
A fascinating conversation. I was thoroughly absorbed. Intrigued by Richard Carpenter's Robin of Sherwood and how it informed later versions. Children of the Circus sounds like it might be a nice parallel to Big Finish's Greatest Show sequel (not least because Barnaby got more of the original cast back, plus Toyah Wilcox!). Will definitely purchase.
Thoroughly absorbed in this discussion, I was just about to comment with "a bit of a novel" here in the comments (🤭), when I found at 23:00 I already had!! 😂 Agree with Steve's contribution regarding received fan opinion. With me it was The Time Monster, which I avoided for years. When I eventually purchased the DVD (because I found the three-story set going dirt cheap in a store), I loved it.
Cool! BE-J! Did you ask him about Robin of Sherwood?
We certainly did!
@@AudioSirens You think of everything! 😊 👍
"Organised gossip". I love it! On a plane, or anywhere, with Katy Manning sounds like heaven!
Remember hating the Vincent Van Gough episode watched it again with a review and know I love it now I think it has a great understanding of mental health and the historical character
I cringe at the sort of fan I was in the 80s! Thank God there was no social media then! I was pretty down on Sylvester's first season, with some justification I think, but I've come to love a lot of it. Season 25 onwards was a great return to form. Heaven bless me, I might even pop Paradise Towers on today! Build high, guys! ✊
I like all big finish audios but like I said, I still have to get the prisoner in video format to enjoy in my video library but everything big finish makes including this prisoner run with this actor I like
Hmmmm. Mmmmmmmmm...

Jon is wonderful.
