The ride quality on a 777 is not great. Looks about equal to that of a 375
@@SolomonClarkeTrains-nw1sf I don't know about that, I went on a few 777s up Liverpool and none of them were as bad as most 375s. But perhaps equal to the not as bad 375s
@@JackHymers-cq6kt No, the lurching in this video looks about equal to 375823. There doesn't seem to be much difference.

I have a question, how does the Class 80x series compare to, say, an Electrostar/Aventra/Networker or similar? They seemed pretty bad when I rode them to London, although the 802s seemed to be worse than the 800s. It's also weird how the 171s seem to have a rough ride considering they're almost identical to the 170s we had here in Wales, I remember most of them having a flawless ride (even smoother than 158s). Probably the fact they had just been refurbished by Greater Anglia before they came down helped.

@@JackHymers-cq6kt I'm pretty sure the newer ones are smoother (803 and 805), most of the rough ones I've had were 802s, the 800s were fairly mixed TBH, prototype 800001 probably the smoothest. The worst riding modern train I've been on was probably one of the 197s (sitting above the bogie though in Standard Premium declassified on a single-class service, to escape those nasty Standard seats - more of an upgrade than some First classes! *cough* Gatwick Express). Sitting above the engine in a 197 is fairly smooth with the odd wobble but starts to bounce from 60mph onwards. I also felt sick on a 142 once, but most of the Pacers were actually fairly smooth on well-maintained continuously welded track. It's when they hit the old-fashioned jointed track that they become "Nodding Donkeys". 150s/153s perfectly smooth for the most part, but there's the strong vibrations from the underfloor engines. 158s are also smooth, but with a little jerking at speed.
@@JackHymers-cq6kt I went on an 800/3 recently, there was a slight bit of bouncing/jolting going round the corners, but nothing worse than a 158 and surprisingly quiet, with none of the rattling/clunking they often had when they were new (especially on 802s). Also rode 197115 that rode fantastically considering the norm for Civites (especially 195s/197s/331s), some vibrations but no shaking and barely any rocking, and as a bonus, declassified Standard Plus!
Rode an 800/3 the other day, it was fairly smooth - a bit of bouncing/jolting but nothing worse than a 158, also very quiet with no rattling like when they were first introduced (especially on the 802s with the build quality from the ex-AnsaldoBreda plant.) Also had 197115, surprisingly smooth considering the trend for these units, a bit of vibration but no shaking and very little rocking, also had the treat of declassified Standard Plus with those lovely seats!

@@SolomonClarkeTrains-nw1sf I've noticed that the 375/8s tend to ride worse than the other subclasses. There are some 375/8s that don't bounce much, but quite a lot of them are the most violent out of all the 375s

I was only on 465929 3 and half months before this video was taken and it didn't creak at all! They deteriorate fast!

Not surprised at the slightly rough riding; 466s (as I said in my SE train ranking video) always seem to be the worst riding Networkers to me. What I am surprised at is the continuous creaking at high speed. I've only ever got on 2 Met-Cam that creaked a lot at higher speeds - 465934 and 465923 - and the former is now stored. The latter suffered from rough riding unlike the former. Regarding 465923 - I saw it for the first time in years lately but I have no idea if it's been fixed or not.
This is the same unit that Jaden said was one of the best about 8 months ago. I guess it deteriorated quite a lot, didn't it?

This unit is SUPPOSEDLY good now, according to David, but I don't know, because I haven't been on it, and I don't think it has been to Doncaster either. Do you know? Last time I went on it, it was a very rough riding unit - nearly as bad as 465928
Do you know if 465925 or 465908 were any better than 465922? I only ask because you filmed them and I wondered if you were on either
@@SolomonClarkeTrains-nw1sf oh I didn't go on 908 or 925, I had a 377 up to Charing of which had ride quality about the same as 465922
@@JackHymers-cq6kt I do know that 465901, 465904, 465906, 465916, 465919, 465924, 465929, and 465932 are much smoother than 465922 but not sure about most of the others, it's been a bit since I was on them.

@@JackHymers-cq6kt Remember my community post - 465908, 465909, 465911, 465914, 465916, 465923, 465925, 465927, 465930 and 465932 have not been to Doncaster as far as I know. I could be wrong though.
I went on that unit a couple of weeks ago and though it had a couple of jitters it was nowhere near this bad! I wonder what happened to it...

377505 is another bad one. I'm on it as I'm typing this and just now before Charing, while I was drinking some water, there was a VIOLENT jerk to the side which resulted in me getting water over me

BRELS have pretty consistent ride quality to be honest. There aren't really any weak links

@@JackHymers-cq6kt One thing's for sure - Met-Cams are way more hit-and-miss than the BRELS are. Most Met-Cams absorb bumps very well but the few I listed in my post don't at all. The BRELS, on the whole, are more even with each other when it comes to ride quality and aren't so variable like the Met-Cams are

@@JackHymers-cq6kt No, because the 375s/376s also bounce up and down as well as move sideways. Javelins only seem to jerk sideways

I think this my train southeastern loves though the tunnel and wobbley like Turbostars are very fast with bumpy and wobbly.
I'm gonna love this poles blue with this my newest blue livery Southeastern Electrostars, this blue poles is gonna be mine forever when I'm going to Hastings with this my newest journey and my academy stuffs of southeastern.
That was pretty bouncy, but I swear it's not as bad as the 375 you got on a few days ago.

When it comes to ride quality, 171s >>>>>>>>>> 375s/377s 171s >>> 465 BRELS 171s ≈ 465/9s (decent ones ofc). I hope we're in agreement on that - though I could be misremembering, as I haven't been on a 171 in ages.
OK, I just finished watching, and wow. I've been on some shaky 376s and 377s before but nothing quite this bad. You should get another train (171, 395, 465) over the same track, and then compare them. I bet that, whatever train you choose, it'll be much better lol. BTW I've not been on a 375 in ages. How, on average, does their ride quality compare to 377s? As I said, I've been on some very shaky 377s before
Some 375s have better ride quality than 377s, but some 377s have better ride quality than some 375s. In other words, all Electrostars are hit or miss, just like the creaky 465/9s
I thought the 1972 stock was bad, but 375823 takes it to a whole new level, I don't think the pacers were this bad?
@@JackHymers-cq6kt Yep, I've not been on a 375 in a long time, but this one looked terrible. That being said - I don't even know if 375s are hit-or-miss or just plain bad. If I'm remembering correctly, I've yet to have one with decent ride quality.

2:26 that must have caught you by surprise! That was a BIG shake! Even bad 465/9s don't shake anywhere near that much Also - just a tip - do you have image stabilization enabled on your camera/recorder? If so, turn it off. It gives a more accurate picture of the ride quality

BREL/ABB 465s can be a little bouncy, but they never do the quick jittering/violent movements that some of the Met-Cams do. Furthermore I also find them far less variable than Met-Cams

It was fine. Not exactly flawless, but fine. It is a little rough at speed but other than that fine. 178 is a better unit than 179 I had in the opposite direction, it was a bit more rough than this, however I didn't film it because my phone was low on battery

Dude, I got this kind of ride quality on 465912 (wiggle, waggle, wobble), 465910 (this is a new issue for Networkers), 465906, 465924, 465928 pre Doncaster, and 465905 before storage. That being said after going on a 376 I will say it was quite a lot worse than 465912. "As bad as an electrostar" - I wouldn't go that far, but it's bad.
"It needs to be sent back to Doncaster" - as far as I know this unit was never dragged there
This is worse then our 507s around liverpool (example 507017 507033 507021 and 507018)
Yep, 465/9s are so variable with their ride quality and creaking. The difference between 465904 and 465912, 465922 and 465901, or 465910 and 465930, say, is massive

Can confirm that this unit is one of the worst /9s - and has only got worse since the video was posted. The ride quality was quite unsteady compared to the rest of them and it had a big door fault today. Will be surprised if this unit does not get fixed in the depot.
I'll have to upload video footage showing how hit or miss the /9s can be when it comes to ride quality. The difference is so noticeable when you get that pesky rogue unit (likewise when you get one in decent condition), yet only you and I seem to notice. I've not heard many others comment on this. 465912 looked pretty OK but I've def been on smoother units, for sure.
Still not as bad as a 377 I got down the Brighton Main Line/East Coastway. The 377 I was on (377460 - video up on my channel) pretty much imitated a fairground ride, which is not nice for people trying to relax on the train
904 is a good unit alongside 927 - neither are creaky - but I'd say 904 looks smoother based off what was shown of 927, as 904 rode just as well at much higher speeds than 927 hit in the video
