i recommend "health communism", i was just considering getting it myself this morning with the (re)release of this episode Organized Abandonment w/Ruth Wilson Gilmore by Death Panel. seems interesting! thought of it when i saw the title alone ngl
Very timely 4 me, i came across the article you wrote re: this. I have been going through this 4 quite sometime. My most recent appt was the absolute worse. I had my fiancé, who just recently suffered ischemic & then hemorrhagic stroke, and a heart attack, with me. He was shocked at the treatment. He even had us go back up after we left appt to speak w/ the doctor. She did talk w/ us. However, she raised her voice at me when i said something as she was talking to him LOL. I am the patient.
Sorry to hear about your experiences! I am glad you found my article and channel. Gaslighting is such a common problem! If you check my website www.rebeccahosey.com under the media tab, I was on a podcast that discussed gaslighting. I wish you the best, and remember keep pushing forward!
That's really discouraging that it takes so long to be diagnosed. Endometriosis doesn't seem like a "rare" disease... You'd think there would be better screening processes for it.
You are correct. This is indeed not a rare disease and another example of the medical system failing women.
This was my favorite video yet.
Thank you!
I appreciate your video, however, you make it sound like men don't get the disease or that men are treated differently - but as a man with autoimmune illnesses (including Sjogrens)....it has been seemingly even harder for me to get treatment than stories I hear from many women etc... dazodalibep is a drug in the pipeline....I'm on Medicaid - I'm not really happy with my specialist - but I have no options....it stinks....
Thank you so much for your response. I am so sorry to hear about your difficulties. You are correct, that I did not mention the aspects of men or even children that have Sjogren's, as it was meant to be more of an overview video. I do plan on more in depth videos about Sjogren's in the future, where I will absolutely provide more about our fellow Sjogies. For many viewers this might be the first time they have even heard the name, plus I am told I should keep videos to around 5 minutes, which is so hard to do with Sjogren's :) That being said, I have read stories about men with Sjogren's and how it is particularly invisible! More awareness will help us all! Hang in there! I wish you the best!
What a great video… much of this I was not aware of. Thank you.
Thank you!
Excellent video!
Thank you!
What resources do you recommend for researching if you want to avoid misinformation?
Great question! While a ton of information is available, not all sources are reputable. Using websites ending in .org or .edu tend to provide more authentic information. Also, major hospital facilities like the Cleveland Clinic, provide trustworthy educational based articles.
Would rural patients be at high risk? Usually they have limited options for doctors.
Yes! But interestingly, health disparities are sometimes seen as only limited access to care, but it is much more convoluted.
Can't wait to read your book!
So excited to hear your story.
