Thanks! Yes it is a vocal sample. The speed of the sample is controlled by a krell patch, the krell patch also controls a chord from SWN which is hi-passed to create that wispy effect!

I have a specific question about the A8 you might know the answer to: if I chop a drum break into 8 zones can I go into each zone and move the start an end for each zone in case the chop function chopped too late or too early? The menu doesn't address this and I haven't seen this specific use case in video tutorials on youtube.

No it does not. Arp has a seperate sequence unit called the 1601. I believe there is a Behringer clone as well.
