Boscov’s model and brands probably didn’t fit the higher end buyer at SHV. We used to buy furniture at Monroeville Boscov’s.

Great vid! Stone and Thomas was out of Wheeling ,WV replacing LS Good (also of Wheeling), they were originally where Michael's is at now. They moved down to the end of the mall where Dunham's sports (then Kmart) is in, in 1996, between Tilt and Sam Goody's (4:30 mark) where all the wall ads are. II was a strange split store on both sides of the mall (they also were in the Marshalls space). Crafts 2000 was identical to Michaels. JC Penney were originally in Wheeling , along with Sears and moved to OVM when the mall opened. The Triadelphia retail center was coveting the mall stores but only Penney's moved there, as they were shifting to stand alone locations at the time. Sears is getting subdivided currently and will house 3 stores, supposedly. and the theater is set to be remodeled and reopened this year.

The store next to that mall is Marshalls. It's the newest place in Lehighton.

Actually crazy to see the whole thing enpty like that, many trips there as a kid

Macys goal is to only have 1 store per metropolitan area or like a 50 mile radius and relay on online sales, what the CEO said last year.

This was about 21 years ago when I was about 12 or 13 years old when I was here, it was a guy that was here that showed me a couple of magic tricks. One he did was he asked me did I have a card and I gave him a card I had in my wallet and he spinned the card and the card was floating and spinning in the air between his hands, another one he did was he asked me did I have a nickel so I gave him a nickel I had and he told me to hold the nickel in my hand with my hand open and he snapped both his right and then left fingers and then he put his hand over my hand and lifted his hand up and the nickel flew up from my hand to his hand. I never asked him how he did those things and I wish I asked him how he did it. He was a cool guy though.

A good friend of mine just recently passed away, and so I was remembering how he and I would spend time at this wonderful mall back in the late 80's and 90's. A very troubling trend with malls these days, I guess due to increased online shopping, but Thank you for posting your excellent video while the mall was still open to see.

This Big Lots location was my childhood Big Lots for 14 years since 2010 and I already closed while I had a great 14 years of shopping at this location on Titus Ave

Wow, this brings back memories. When I was a kid in the late 90's & early 2000's my grandparents (may they both RIP) lived in La Fargeville. The mall was the most exciting thing to do up there as they were surrounded by farmland & only had one tv with satellite. We used to go to a movie at the theater, eat at the food court (which used to have waay more) and I would go to EB games & I think Borders was there? The biggest draw for me as a little kid was the giant perpetual motion machine. Good memories, thank you.

So glad that the cracker plant company bought the mall and all they did was put a U-Haul store in. And then they build a bunch of hotels for the out of country workers that they just had to hire than fire as soon as the cracker plant was done. Sadly they don't care about the mall. They lured in dumb politicians thinking they were going to build all these businesses and all these economic jobs and then they didn't do anything but pollute the environment and destroy the rest of the land around it And let The mall die. Heard rumors that they're supposed to just turn it into a warehouse like Shenango valley Mall. Not sure how true that is because it's rumor.

The original Toys R Us in London was located on Wellington Rd right where Chapters is near Farm Boy and Burger King. It was massive and by far my favorite store when I was a kid. The stores of the 80's were far superior to what they have become today.

Anytime I see footage of this mall, it is always so shocking. It was so busy and full of people less than 10 years ago.

Another victim of the" Retail Apocalypse"

TH-cam shows a lot of them doing poorly in the bay area were I grew up. Malls over a lot of America aren't doing like they used to. I think it's modern times and the internet because people can shop all over the world from the comfort of their home.

Hey man,great video Alex!Hey I'm a former fellow Hamburg friend such as you,in Angola now.If I'm not mistaken my aunt worked at Boulevard mall JC penny many years ago.Been there a couple times like you.Also like you McKinley mall was MY MALL.I lived that mall.I worked at Sears there.I also hung out there.As a teen but probably more often in my mid twenties somehow.Man the sad fact ,ALL the malls are,or eventually will be closed.The sad end of an era!Listen I have a great idea on a prospect former retailer in Buffalo for you to cover.
