History:
Forum Copenhagen is a large, multi-purpose indoor arena in Frederiksberg, Denmark. It accommodates up to 10,000 people and serves as a venue for concerts, markets, exhibitions, and other events. It operates as a convention center, concert hall, and indoor arena. The arena opened in February 1926 for a car exhibition and was last renovated in 1996-97. It spans two storeys with a 5,000 m² exhibition floor area and includes a restaurant seating up to 250 guests. The Forum Metro station is adjacent to the building. Construction began on August 11, 1925, with Prime Minister Thorvald Stauning laying the foundation stone on September 25, 1925. Designed by Oscar Gundlach-Pedersen with lighting by Poul Henningsen’s PH-lamp, it officially opened on February 20, 1926.
In 1929, Forum hosted an architecture exhibition, showcasing functionalism in Denmark, including Arne Jacobsen and Flemming Lassen’s cylindrical "House of the Future." During World War II, the Danish resistance group Holger Danske destroyed the original hall in August 1943. It was rebuilt and expanded in 1947. An annual six-day bicycle race was originally held at Forum but later moved to Ballerup Super Arena. In 1997, the venue underwent a 70 million DKK roof renovation, improving acoustics and making it more suitable for concerts. Over the years, Forum Copenhagen has hosted numerous music acts and continues to be a prominent event space.
