Two Crappie Experts Top Tips for Brush Piles
Crappie experts Dan Dannenmueller and George Toalson may live in different states, Dan - Alabama and George - Oklahoma, but both have tons of crappie-fishing experience in many places and states. The two have some similar thoughts on dissecting brush piles for crappie-catching success, but both also have several great individual tips to share to help you be more productive in doing the same. Dan talks about his strategies regarding approach, lure presentations and bait choices for each. George relies almost exclusively on a cast and reel technique that he says "paints a picture" and tells him all he needs to know about what's below. He also shares info on his equipment of choice and the 3 crappie casting baits he uses 90-percent of the time. Lots of good info here from two anglers who know plenty about crappie and how to catch them out of brush piles.

Bobby Garland Top 6 Crappie Bait Profiles - An Inside Look at Bait Shapes
มุมมอง 114K3 ปีที่แล้ว
There is good reason why soft-plastic crappie baits come in so many colors - the options allow for changing to meet given conditions around light penetration, water color, sky cover and matching forage. Anglers are also learning more about the importance of bait profiles, and understanding that a profile change can also be advantageous to trigger strikes, extend success in a given spot or match...
Hell nah, that's the bass pro tank at the pyramid in memphis 😂
I haven’t fished brush piles in 2 years and my amount of keeper crappie and finishing my limit quicker increase drastically soon as I quit fishing brush piles .
What pole and reel is he using?
I really like how he mentioned that you don’t need big money, sonar electronics to get this done to include lower budget fishermen
👀🔥✅
Slab slay'r is a piece of crap, the tail flips back on itself and doubles over all the time! Everything else Bobby Garland makes does great!
Great tips on long line trolling
Having 12 and 18' rods will cost a fortune.
You should grow this channel. Great information, and great video presentation. Very well done. Following...
Awesome, Awesome video. That is a technique I have never tried, but after watching your video, gonna have to give it a try. Thanks! I will be watching this multiple times. I am also a big fan of Crappie Conection.
I received the mayfly in ice blue and crazy chicken then the swimming minniow in blue grass. The mayfly packaging is innovative and great for storing non-scented baits in with the scented mayfly. These soft plastics look promising. My only dislike about all received is that they were " Made in Guatamala."
Notice the pile diver did none of that flickering action he talked aboit
This old man talking about these tiny things like they're the most alive looking baits with features he over embellishs a lot
I need to get some of them, great video thanks.
How’s far back you let the lure out from the boat?
Same question please
Planer boards????
Great education! Thank you!
I have so many bobby garland baits in every shape and size its actually ridiculous lol. One might ask why, well they simply produce fish for me and I have the most confidence in them🤷🏾♂️. Vertical deadstick, dipping laydowns, casting, shooting docks or under a float I stand behind bobby's garlands products. Hell the baitshops already know what im coming in for so that should tell ya something right lol. My disease of CFD CRAPPIE 🐟 FISHING 🎣 DISORDER 🤪 🤷🏾♂️ I live for them thump
I’ve always wanted to fish the bass pro shops tank.
How deep does that allow you to get the bait down to ?
Well done Brad. Very informative Keep them coming. What kind of poles are you pulling with?
Watching old timers giving so much valuable advice is inspiring.
They also work for panfish, trout, large mouth and smallmouth bass, oh yeah i cannot forget about perch either. Yes I caught plenty of them with them
I wish they had one thats bigger than this but smaller than the standard one. The standard is more like a bass bait.
🙋 My two favorite colors of Bobby Garland crappie baits is baby shad bluegrass and baby shad hologram ghost. Both or these colors work fantastic and I always buy the ones that come in pack of 18. They work for crappies, trout, perch, smallmouth and largemouth bass. I only thought they catch crappies but I was wrong. Great baits right here
what color is that ? And what color jig head ?
The livescope its awesome
I love the slab slayer I've had great success with it I recommend that profile
This is great.. I use to live on old Ross Barnett.. Keep hanging them.
I have the one of those. I jig it and pop that thing thru the water on 6lb and fish it slow an aggressive. Kills em .
Great video! I love Crappie fishing 🎣 Pink Pond Princess TH-cam Channel Stopped By To Say Hello 👋🏽😀🎣💖👸
I really like the pile diver and baby shad. I haven’t used the scent wigglers yet but I’m definitely going to.
I understand the profile of the horizontal bait design in skipping. However, the horizontal color scheme is plain counterintuitive (flat stupid). It's easy to design an injection mold that will fix this...but yet they continue to produce this stuff?
@Davemike27 Not if you have any intelligence. Do you not know how to layer Cait colors? Second, not upset. Just pointing out the lack of common sense.
where do you buy them ?? it would help us if you gave us the seller website
I know how you can modify a bobber to detect 1/32 of a ounce pressure. I slay crappie doing this.
Or you can use trout match grade floats...that's also fun.
But can you sling it out there like a bullit? Match grade floats don't weigh much.
@@scarecrow6741 you're right, they don't weigh much at all! It all depends on the line and rod choice. The goal it to make the jig the overweighted component. Like when I'm using a true drop shot rig for crappie, I'm using a 3/8 oz weight with 6lb line and a soft, parabolic bend med rod. This way it maintains bottom contact unless you make it do otherwise. With a match float and a 32nd weight, cut down to 4lb line, preferably fluorocarbon. That will allow for further casting distance and have max sensitivity. If a fish passes gas in the vicinity of your jig, you'll know it. With that said, I'd love to hear about your modification. I'm always eager to learn being that fishing is a learning spot and no one can ever know everything there is to know.
@@cerebraltackle I use the ez trout float for panfish all the time and it works great
Just use a mini shy bite and you'll be able to detect 1/64th....
Colors don't matter..it's all body size, profile, and movement..keep your colors natural
I respectfully disagree. Light penetration, water clarity...they all play a role in making the bait easier to locate. I once thought the way you did...then I learned differently. He is absolutely correct that changing up the color after the bite has slowed can get them biting again. I've seen it happen too many times with too many species!
@@cerebraltackle I disagree..look at the title of the vid..they're talking about the impotantance of shape and profile..there is no such thing as a sac-a-lait..that's what we call them here in south louisiana..not biting..they will hit anything cause they are color blind..
@@jerryfrancois2014 Ugh. They do see shades and some colors. I don't believe anything that comes out of a Les Miles state. Lol.
@@cerebraltackle ok..don't know what a les miles state is but they do see different shades of black and gray..not colors..
@@jerryfrancois2014 science says otherwise. You living Louisiana and don't even know the name of the former LSU coach? Yeah, you've lost all fishing cred. If I'm ever out your way I'll give you a holler and we can "fish it out". I promise not to post pictures of your tears afterwards (just kidding).
it's a shame that every fishing show on TV has turned into a commercial to sell.. it's no longer about watching someone fish it's like watching QVC.
Most baits are made to catch fishermen more than fish. I've caught lots of fish in my life using simple basic homemade lures or natural bait. I refuse to bite the lures all these bait companies are fishing with to catch consumers.
@@mikelovin7 not all. There are a few out there that do actual research and design accordingly. Not many, but a few.
100% agree
