This week, artist and friend Ryan K. Peterson joins me in a part 2 of our tribute to the one and only David Lynch. We were both so bummed at his passing that it seemed to be a good way to celebrate the man who had such a big artistic influence on us both. You can check out part 1 here: th-cam.com/video/ZcXm5R55od4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=PKwSgi9yKP8LZAOO

Wild at Heart is my favorite. Followed by Fire Walk with Me. The way Lynch constructs films he’s always on the verge of collapse narratively. The scenes are paintings in motion. The one that fell apart for me and I never finished it was Inland Empire.
might be worth giving another shot. not one of my favorites but i liked it better on 2nd watch. It's currently on HBO Max. I liked a lot of the scenes in Wild at Heart but didn't love it as much as his other stuff. But I know a LOT of people love Wild at Heart!
I just thought about how you like film, and I would love to hear you talk about Robert Eggers in general, and Nosferatu as well. A24 stands out as more artsy, and I personally like Eggers. Blue Velvet screwed me up a bit, too, when I first saw it. I didn't come to appreciate him until I was in my 20's though.
Love Eggars. I still need to see Nosferatu!
I love the skull with the roses!
The Elephant Man was also my first David Lynch movie and I saw it when I was 10 years old. My dad had a copy on VHS somehow and I watched it often and I would just cry and cry. It was that kind of thing like how you would voluntarily put on a sad song because you wanted to cry. The ending is the most moving moment in film I have ever seen.
@@tabithalahr5396 agreed! It’s heart wrenching and amazing
Why do I keep forgetting he did The Elephant Man?? An absolute masterpiece. So is Blue Velvet. Watching it, I felt like I was party to something I shouldn't have been involved in. I should have done something to help but I couldn't. It's such an odd feeling.
That's a great analogy! I felt the same way. Like when you see something bad happening when you are a little kid and are powerless to do anything about it.

Brutal, Dune Cliffhanger man. <3 How about that Matango opener earworm while you are getting paint out ready? Stay safe sir!
Haha we discuss Dune first thing on part 2!
That was really enjoyable. I could have easily listened for 3 hrs!😂 I totally agree that Lynch was most likely autistic or on the spectrum. I'd never thought of that until you said it, but it now seems so obvious
My brother had a double feature movie night. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Mulholland Dr. the week it was released on DVD in 2001. My 13 year old mind was blown! Lynch is my biggest artistic influence and greatly informs my own art.
Great double feature!
I’m so glad it didn’t kill you.
Cool interview! I wonder, could you use foam for large bulky areas for the light-weight filler, then put silicone over it? Or use foam and dip it in silicone, (almost like a plasti-dip?)
yeah i bet somebody has tried that! i know a ton of R&D has been tried over the years. i remember in the 80s when foamed gelatin was all the rage for prosthetics but it never quite totally worked
Fun and interesting interview, Chet! It would be awesome if you could get Mr. Baker on your show...
Thanks! I'm trying! He said he would when i asked!
I love listening to you two talk, there's so much intelligence and right brain activity. Mitch has always been my favorite author and writer ever since I discovered him on Gaia channel talking with George Noory. I'm watching this podcast, and it's amazing how you're talking about Elon Musk being a nazi sympathizer, and he just gave a nazi salute the other day that was caught on video.
I know, right? i totally forgot about this. I was seeing the writing on the wall at the time. On a more personal note, as somebody who has hung out with Mitch a few times and gotten to know him, he is the real deal. Down to earth and good natured, always kind to his fans and of course as smart as hell! He's an American treasure. It's nice to know that out there in the media landscape there are still some people you can trust (especially in the occult space). I'm proud to call him a friend!
@darkartsocietypodcast Awesome podcast, dude 👏 I really wished I lived in NYC or California. All the cool people (my tribe ) like you and Mitch live in those states.

That was great. I'm like you guys; I think about this stuff all day. Great conversation/analysis on the spiritual nature of art and the creative process as a divine process.
Thank you!
You can DM Bua? Yes you can and he replies. Financial security vs Creative security... having the main job and the personal creativity on the side.. in this place the time on the job is the yearning thinking space and off the job the blissful creativity. Lots of names dropped here that's a ton of homework to do now. Thank you both for making this podcast can't wait for part two.
I enjoyed the name dropping and I’m not even in the industry. Fun podcast!
Chet Zar and Justin Bua 👏👏👏 Found my Bua poster in the hallway of my apartment building in Denver in the early 2000s took him in right away🤘😎 Have met both of you in real time at art events nice to catch your convo. Crazy times. ☝️😮
This was a great podcast. You guys had me laughing so much. From throwing down to throwing up. 😂
Rob, Cool shirt!
Take Elon with a grain of salt. He didn’t create any of his tech. Someone else made Tesla. Someone else created Twitter. He just has money to buy in.

Great podcast. Sleep paralysis demons are something you never quite forget.
Great episode! I can relate to some of the sleep paralazis stuff, lucid dreaming an all that. Some stuff is really scary but some things are just cool and weird. I've had a bunch of OBE in woken state, looking at myself talking to people. Very strange feeling!

HOT TIP for emailing mailing list - if its a sale, or an event, put that in the email subject!! A big % of email subscribers just read the subject then delete the email without even opening it. Use the email headline the same way for skimmers. Also apparently using different words can entice people to open the email but learning what those words or "triggers" are is a slow process
Thanks Ash!
I'm so glad I stumbled across this podcast, it is bringing me back to life.
