How did you book a track day for your own vehicle? I'm trying to go myself in my Mustang as well!
This was during the Mid-America FORD Nationals in June. Here's the website: info@midamericafordmeet.com
1:54 that's me 😅 that last session was great so few cars!
That was good. Enjoyed running with you, loved the track.
Damn so it's pretty lawless out there as far as passing on an open lap day huh? Like that vette that passed at 6:35 ish, I was surprised they would allow passing in the corkscrew. I think you may have also said "jesus christ" so it was definitely an unexpected move lol. This is one thing that has made me not go out to race. I don't want to be in an open lapping day with a few idiots, but the instructor days have a billion rules too. No great answer other than risk it on an open day.
It's usually not like that at High Plains. I knew he was back there and half expected it, but still surprised me he chose to do it there. This was a case of one idiot who can't follow the rules. If I would have said something to the staff they probably would have done something but I chose not to. I have only had issues like this running in the fast group. After this happened I changed to slow group and found it easier to run on open track. Don't let something like this deter you, High Plains staff does a great job with their track days and they want everybody to have a good time.
@@stevesmith5355 That makes sense. Everyone has an opinion on open lapping days. I have been told by so many people to avoid them as a new to the track driver. They say I would be basically eaten alive out there. Then other people say it isn't bad at all. I know the answer is to just go out and see what happens at the end of the day. I had considered an instructor lead day or more of an HPDE type deal but there are just so many regulations it makes your head spin. I almost went to one that said I was allowed until I emailed them and suddenly because my car had a roll cage they said I couldn't come out lol. I am basically stuck at doing an open lap day or nothing.
My first time on track was with NASA's HPDE program and I'm glad I did it that way. They do educate you on track driving and it gave me the confidence to continue. I intend on working through their program to HPDE4 and maybe get the competition license for time trials, but that's not a priority. For now I'm just enjoying track driving and work on getting better. Since I have started this I have participated in track day events with various organizations at different tracks and have had a great time and met some great people and made some new friends. So don't over think it or let a few bad apples deter you.
Nice power on the long straight. Any engine mods?
Cat back exhaust with x-pipe, cold air kit with tune.
